Terrence Stamp gave one of the deepest and most soulful performances of his whole career in this movie. The character he played was not just some "funny drag queen". If you watch the movie and really pay attention you'll see that. In fact they all played people that were real and deep. This is one of the best movies ever made, not just for the laughs either.

Has taken me a while to realize I had comment responses! You're right - General Zod in drag! Kneel before Zod! :) An even older incarnation of Terence Stamp, where he 1st came to my notice as an actor, "Far From the Madding Crowd", released (1967) but I didn't see the movie till the 80's.
