Somehow we have turned church into Show Time At The Apollo . Whatever happened to ministry? What ever happened to deliverance, even through song?It seems as though we have a form of Godliness e.g. gifts/talents, creativity but we deny the POWER thereof. It's the anointing that breaks the yolks! Period.

Wow.... I'm a musician at my church, and.. I can just say that (that) was not the greatest performance I've heard. The background singers were actually "Trying" to make her sound good.
most of her siging was a mixture of straining, falsetto, and screaming....which is common in church singing...but she did have some pure soprano runs at times

this is not full voice....she is singing in a false chest voice or 'masked' voice. Stevie wonder does it. It is head or falsetto disguised as chest voice.
If you listen to the video carefully, you will discover that the way the choir is shifting through keys makes it sound like 2nd lady is singing off key but she's on each new key throughout. Sometimes the problem with key changes is that they have to be done in a way the ear will follow right away. The video being very loud and full of static does not help either, you have to really tune in to enjoy the music. That choir is BAD (in a good way). And the 2 solists KILLED (in a good way)!
Duh she is not singing in her falsetto voice because women do not have falsetto.....they only have Head and Chest voice....one day people will be learned.

No No im going to have to disagree with you women do not have falsetto.....not only was I told this by my voice teacher....who as trained many sopranos in his 50 year voice coaching career.....but I have heard this from our Ear, Nose and throat doctor whom I have sat in on his many seminars....when men perform the act of falsettoing our vocal chords move @ a faster rate.....it has been clinically proven that women have no such skill....research it for yourself...its out there.
No such bologna. Regardless of training sopranos or what have you that doesnt give anyone the right to give a poor definition of falsetto. Falsetto: an unnatural , or artificailly high pitched voice or register ESPECIALLY in a man. The reason why it says ESPECIALLY is because that women also have this UNNATURAL. What makes it falsetto is its unnatural-ness. Hence the word false. I dont think your ENT doctor because hes an ENT qualifies him to speak on falsetto.
Proof is in the pudding. I just read the definition. Look it up for yourself. The definition DIDNT suggest it was a mans voice because it CANT. Because both women and men have falsettos. How do you dispute that? If you can, that you have a reason to disagree other than that youre disagree'ing to disagree.

There's a lot of interferance. No matter how good a singer is, with this much interferance, people are going to call the singing a hot mess/shouting. MrWoodfin expressed some things concerning the overall ministry/delivery of this singer(s) and I must agree with what he said and I personally didn't feel an anointing that draws you into an awesome worship experience (unlike Tramiaine) Not comparing you to Tramaine, but even with your own style and uniqueness you should be able to carry the people to the throne and lay them at the foot of Jesus.
This is one of my favorite songs in the whole world. Loved it since a young boy. But I do have to admit that I agree with the varies constructive critisms of all and many points were expressed in genuine sincerity only to the edification of those ministering in this video and should be received as such.

I have to be honest, it was hard to figure out what key they were singing. I can't tell you what song they were singing. However when the lady in the white came on, it sounded like a whole bunch of screaming (because of the sound quality) until I was able to tune-in, and she was killin it! Here is the only problem, us singers get stuck in singing and not worshipping...I hope you all caught that, that means we need to set the atmosphere and not be set by the atmosphere. Be blessed!

this is not full voice....she is singing in a false chest voice or 'masked' voice. Stevie wonder does it. It is head or falsetto disguised as chest voice.

If you listen to the video carefully, you will discover that the way the choir is shifting through keys makes it sound like 2nd lady is singing off key but she's on each new key throughout. Sometimes the problem with key changes is that they have to be done in a way the ear will follow right away. The video being very loud and full of static does not help either, you have to really tune in to enjoy the music. That choir is BAD (in a good way). And the 2 solists KILLED (in a good way)!

sorry to deflate your balloon but women do have falsettos. It is simply called so because of the voice being not chest. Falsetto WAS what it was because it was a voice that men used. That doesnt mean that women dont also have this voice. It is like a woman cant be a tenor because TECHNICALLY tenors are MALES singing within certain pitches. So are you saying if women sang within these two pitches they arent singing tenor or they arent tenors. Not so. Traditionally falsetto but women have it

No No im going to have to disagree with you women do not have falsetto.....not only was I told this by my voice teacher....who as trained many sopranos in his 50 year voice coaching career.....but I have heard this from our Ear, Nose and throat doctor whom I have sat in on his many seminars....when men perform the act of falsettoing our vocal chords move @ a faster rate.....it has been clinically proven that women have no such skill....research it for yourself...its out there.

No such bologna. Regardless of training sopranos or what have you that doesnt give anyone the right to give a poor definition of falsetto. Falsetto: an unnatural , or artificailly high pitched voice or register ESPECIALLY in a man. The reason why it says ESPECIALLY is because that women also have this UNNATURAL. What makes it falsetto is its unnatural-ness. Hence the word false. I dont think your ENT doctor because hes an ENT qualifies him to speak on falsetto.

Proof is in the pudding. I just read the definition. Look it up for yourself. The definition DIDNT suggest it was a mans voice because it CANT. Because both women and men have falsettos. oh and stop telling people they need to "be learned" you learn. Theres knowledge out there search for it. Dont stop at your Ear and nose and throat doctor because being an ent doesnt qualify you to discuss music and your voice teacher sadly enough is traditional and has no idea what exists currently in people. This teacher probably believes that men dont grow past 7 feet tall. Its 2008 lets be learned.

There's a lot of interferance. No matter how good a singer is, with this much interferance, people are going to call the singing a hot mess/shouting. MrWoodfin expressed some things concerning the overall ministry/delivery of this singer(s) and I must agree with what he said and I personally didn't feel an anointing that draws you into an awesome worship experience (unlike Tramiaine) Not comparing you to Tramaine, but even with your own style and uniqueness you should be able to carry the people to the throne and lay them at the foot of Jesus.

To the person who is singing, I dont' know if you felt offended by what I said, I hope you didn't take that the wrong way. I'm just speaking from the spirit. I lead praise & worship and as I said we have to set the atmosphere. You always have to minister instead of singing it. There is a big difference: One is annointing the other is talent (and a lot of singers operate out of talent). I'm just saying we have to be careful cause it's a lifestyle that ministers rather than our voice. God Bless!

She killed that, I believe many of us are stereotypical, especially when it comes to Sopranos, which cause you to downgrade one soprano just because you may like another. Man she got some mad Vocal Chords hell i wish i could sing that high. As for pitch, come on now it called variation. You're not gonna sing he same notes all the time. So she was mixing it up. And plus the musicians were shifting thru all sorts of keys. So back off naggers.

I have to be honest, it was hard to figure out what key they were singing. I can't tell you what song they were singing. However when the lady in the white came on, it sounded like a whole bunch of screaming (because of the sound quality) until I was able to tune-in, and she was killin it! Here is the only problem, us singers get stuck in singing and not worshipping...I hope you all caught that, that means we need to set the atmosphere and not be set by the atmosphere. Be blessed!

You are absolutely right. But maybe were the church fails or could improve is not letting thing go without criticism or correction. For instance, "Oh its okay, its for the LORD , God understand" God said let it be a "sweet sound in HIS ear" now if what she was singing is "sweet sounding" my God is definitely deaf by now!! (Cynically speaking). The church should not be half assed.

So who are we to say what is pleasing and "sweet" to him...If you were speaking from a clinical aspect, as if this were a vocal critique, then yes there were pitchy portions, but is that what its all about...? But I think that point has already been proven...Imagine all those rinky-dink churchs who don't really have the musicians and voices, they should stop,? because to our standards they aren't giving a praise "done decently and in order?" Who cares about how much or how little she was off key... HER RANGE IS AMAZING. I think that's the point here. She did however falsetto some runs... not many but there was falsetto in there; either that or that loud synthesizer was throwing me off.
