  • does changing any of these change the picture as you look at it through the lens?

  • are these changes done the same way in the video shooting mode?

  • Hey thank you for making this video it was very helpful and easy to follow :D

  • Why don't people just use the automatic mode? Does it adjust all of those settings for you?

  • Does anyone know how i decrease the shutter speed past 30 seconds for my 550d? For example, night shooting at stars, i want to capture the movement of them. I i reduce it to a ridiculous 1 hour?

  • @mynameisjamesj If you get an Intervalometer you can keep your shutter open for a long time and get the night shots.. I do it all the time.

  • @nightssky117 Cheers dude, been looking at them since you told me haha. I shall buy one soon I think. Also, thanks for the helpful video =D

  • @mynameisjamesj No prob. Good luck. They are not a big expense but give you a great product.

  • Hi, I'm new on on this photography, mind if I ask? I'm using Canon EOS 1000D, and I was wondering how and where is the shutter? I'm trying to do light painting, but didn't works. Please help.

  • @wawahappy4ever I don't know this camera sorry.

  • thanks

  • @Djssatyamm Welcome

  • is it possible to change the settings for filming? if so, is this how you do it?

  • thank you very helpful

  • THANK YOU!!! This was such a big help! I read the manual but I kept on forgetting what I read and always end up lost when I want to change the settings. Thanks! :D

  • how do i change it on the 550d?

  • So if you want to change these settings during video recording, do you swap to "Manual" mode, change the settings, and then back to "Video" mode?

    Great video by the way

  • can somone explain to me how to focus on a close object and blur the area around it?? example? portraits of people when you dont want the background in focus, ive played around with the f stop iso and shutter speed all together and the only thing ive gotten is everything in focus except whats up close and it just makes it darker or lighter which you kinda just have to tweak that but still how do i focus on close objects without auto focus?

  • @specificlyvague. So what lens are you using start but steping back and zooming in if you are using a zoom if you have a marco prime the just get up close for all the above turn down you f stop as open as you can like 2.8 or lower so you can get a nice blured out background

  • @nightssky117 im using the default lense that comes with a canon t2i a 18-55mm lens and the lowest the f stop goes is 5.0 is the blurred background not possible with the default lense?

  • @nightssky117 ah nvm i figured it out i didnt know there was a focus option like on the very end on the lens i thought that was just for the zoom tysm for all ur help.

  • so you said that you get more grain in the picture at higher iso like 1600? but in lower ones like 100 you get alot of motion blur unless you dont move? is there a medium your suppose to go for?

  • @specificlyvague Turn up your shutter speed for a bit less motion blur.

  • @nightssky117 yes i know less blur but it lowers the quality of the picture like he said and adds more grain correct? so is that to say if i have a tripod and the subject doesnt move i could set it lower and the picture gather more detail? ty for taking the time to reply

  • @specificlyvague Yes in a way.. A low ISO means a picture with less Grain/Noise.. My advice for good images is to use good lights!

  • @nightssky117 lol ok tyvm for the advice, any type of light in particular like a soft box?

  • @specificlyvague shutter speed should be double frame rate.60fps=120 shutter speed

  • How do you do all this in VIDEO mode?

  • @cpo2u Same way just turn on Video mode.

  • @urbanbonvivant No prob

  • never mind i just looked up that you ant have it on 1080p at 30fps

  • how do you change it in video, i know how to change it to manual but i can't figure out how to change anything but ISO

  • @cat325ccr same here

  • Thank you for the answer and informative video, thank you

  • Can you do all of these things in VIDEO mode?

  • @nightssky117

So, um, how can one adjust the ISO in video mode? I mean, I know that in manual mode there's the ISO, F-Stop settings and so forth, but everytime I switched the M mode to Video mode, and clicked the ISO button, the camera says something like "function is not available in this mode". Would you care to explain it to me on how to adjust not just ISO, but F-stop and shutter speed also but in video? Thanks in advance :D

  • If you point the wheel at the 'M' , Does that will led you to this settings on how to change this stuff? :)

  • thanks that was really helpful!

  • i can't record in m mode(in the wheel) when i press the record button the menu pops up..i can only take pictures..why is this?

  • @batatacreew You have to press the video record button not the Shutter for pictures.. If you are pressing the correct button and still can not record in manual mode, contact your local camera store or Canon.

  • @nightssky117 you're telling me...that if i put it in m mode..and i press the record button its supposed to start recording? because if its supposed to i guess im doing something wrong cuz i cant record:/

  • @batatacreew Did you press the live view button first so you can see an image on the screen. Can you make a video with a cell phone or something to show the problem?

  • Have you looked into using the Q button on the back of the camera instead? You can hit it, move to any of the settings with the arrows and change a setting using the main knob.

  • read the manual.... it's in there... when in movie mode set it to manual exposure then you can change everything... hint.. touch the av +/- button... jebus.

  • i was recording the other day..but when i put it in manual mode and customized everything...i could only take pictures like that...how can i do this in video mode?

  • @batatacreew Not sure what ya mean in M mode you can shoot video just press the Video record button?

    Can you show me?

  • @nightssky117 i'll link a response with a video of me trying to do it i'll pm you when i do...but i will try it again to see if im doing something wrong

  • @nightssky117 Just the M on the wheel.

  • Do you know how to change it while filming plzz tell me

  • @TheRickkert Change what? Everything I show in the video you can do at anytime.. But I would set up my shot and camera settings before hitting record.

  • Can you change F-stop in video mode. (make the picture sharper.) Not using the zoom on the lens?

  • @NoPointSketch Of couse the f stop can be changed while shooting but to "iris" up or down while shooting in the camera will show on the video because the Iris or fstop is not on the lens it a camera function. I would set my level before hitting record.

  • @nightssky117 Thx. I actually found it out of my self after clicking on all the buttons on the camera :)

  • Set the camera to manual mode m on the dial and the iso should dtay what you set it at don't go over 1250

  • Is there anyone who can tell me how to manually set the ISO in video on the T2i?... I just got the camera the other day & I've taken it to a couple basketball games. The noise is just unacceptable! It keeps setting the ISO super high automatically, and I don't know how to change it...

  • Your tutorial was fun. The explanation was good. It was very helpful and detailed. I wish you would have add more stuff to it, or make part two. Either way, this video was very cool. Thanks for making it.

  • does this work with video also?

  • Yes

    @batatacreew

  • I wanted to know how to change the shutter speed, becuase I wannted to draw with light. and with a longer sutter time I can "drag" the light to making a draw.

    Thanks for your video.

    Joshua.

  • Thank you!!

  • @nightssky117 i have the 50mm lens and when i put it in av mode, i do not get the option to change my shutter speed can u tell me why?

  • @mrrap4food need to shoot in m mood for total control

  • mmy f stop only goes as low as F5.0? and why is my t2i in black and white? i dont understand... ];

  • @LandScapeProd Sounds like your lens only goes that low.

    What kind is it?

Also the black and white is something I never came across. Maybe you have the B&W filter on.. Look in the book that came with the camera for in camera effects/ filters

Good Luck and thanks for watching

  • mmy f stop only goes as low as F5.0?

  • @LandScapeProd That's because of the lens you have on.

  • How do you change the aperture in movie mode? please help!

  • @toms900 Hold the AV button and scroll the top wheel.

  • @nightssky117 thanks, i was able to figure that out cause i remembered that these things came with manuals hahaha!

  • turn the black wheel with out pressing any other buttons and it will change I will make a video if you need to see

  • @nightssky117 i thought during the video when you moved the black wheel was the exposure. Im stupid ><

  • how do you change the shutter speed for video?

  • @CuteDemons turn the black wheel with out pressing any other buttons and the ss will change its on the. Left side of the screen do you need a video?

  • for filming in the light box you might use a marco lense like my 60mm and some good lighting

  • most of the time you want a shaper picture from the camera, but some times for a artist effect and if you know what your doing raising the iso or changing the settings can make your footage look great.

  • Thanks for the info. Question though: why would someone want a "granier" picture, which then like you said they'd raise the ISO. Doesn't everyone want the sharpest picture? Also any idea what these things should be set to if I'm taking pictures of mannequins wearing hats in a light box? Thanks!

  • wow my canon is so fucked up when i want to do the manuel mode you just used i have to go to landscape and if i want to use the film mode i have to go to CA i dont get it xD

  • can u show me how to shoot video at night ? like how to set up ur camera please?

  • @YoungB4o8 What type of night shoot? Good lighting will help at night time.

  • @nightssky117 low light man. can u suggest me a good set up on this camera to do a night video please ?

  • i thought one couldn't change the ISO without having the f stop change itself

  • @valleystylez1 Hey, Nope on this camera it is it's own function. Just press ISO then change it. The F-stop is separate.

    Sean

  • thanks alot man, I couldn't figure out how to change the aperture during movie mode and this just saved my life, thanks again!!

  • @MikeyCProductions Really happy to help. Spread the video around to help others.

  • Hey ,

No button needed. Just turn the wheel shown in the video and the shutter will change in "M" mood. This is one you don't have to press anything else just turn the wheel

Let me know if that helps

    Sean

  • @nightssky117 how do you change the shutter speed for videos

  • @TyMcFly91 Just turn the black wheel in video mood and it will change the shutter. I usually keep it around 50 or 60 for indoors and around 125 plus for out door or motion shots.

    Hope that helps

  • @nightssky117 why would someone even change the shutter speed on video? Does that not affect the resolution when video recording?

  • @valleystylez1 Not just will effect the crispness of the video. Might add some strobe effect or help with lighting. The "quality" will not change but the video might look a bit different. Do you need a tutorial to explain?

  • @TyMcFly91 thanx, it helped alot

  • Hi, my shutter speed botton is missing. can you help me how to show it?

  • @Ragtime4 Yeah i dont have the option to change my shutter speed either
