  • magnificent bro.

  • Perfect!

  • Nice Job, probably one the best melodic solos of all time by Larry when he was at his peak, the great chord structure under the solo also helps a lot.& with that cooking bass & drums track it's pure magic.

Larry is probably the tastiest player of all time, his work with Steely & Joni Mitchell is the ultimate, I've seen flashier & faster players but no one is as tasty as Larry in his prime.

  • Man it would be so cool to jam with a band that could feel this stuff.Great Job!

  • Nice playing! Great job and it's nice to have someone play the lead out also. The middle solo is one of the best ever, but that lead out Carlton played first time on the fly and then one pass for the middle solo and nailed it. I can only wish on that level. Thanks for your post.

  • this is an epic lead done epically wonderful. one of my 5 fave solos of all time and i knows almost all of them the guy that payed for steeley back then in the studio had some of the tastiest leads ever. another one of my faves by far is a guitarist named audrey freed. played in agreat band called cry of love..great great songs and fret work ..great playing pgs ..you are very talented

  • great classic solo

  • Bitchin'

  • *****

    excellent !

  • Excellent. Have you ever tried the Grant Geisman solo in Chuck Mangione "Feels so Good".

  • Does anyone get the feeling that, the last solo at the beginning sounds a little like Mario 64, In the first level (But could be any level, i just remember it more on the first level) and it's awesome... Wait I mean, Mario reminds me of this... I know, this is older.

Awesome Cover bro. It sounds very crisp.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • note for note! that was fuckin awesome!

  • Fantastic job on a GREAT Larry Carlton solo!

  • A Larry Carlton solo?

    great job!

  • Anyone who knows anything about guitar will tell you that the Kid Charlemagne solo is one of the greats. This is a damn good attempt, more like the original than the guy that Don and Walt have in the band at the moment.

  • @wolfcarcass John Harrington is good ,but when they play Kid Charlemagne it's hard not to expect this solo or at least a good attempt.

  • @joemizzi1 That would be 'Jon Herington',I wish I could afford some spectacles.

  • wonderful .. thanks for unlocking this great solo for me and many others .. keep on keeping on JM

  • great... ,but that first vibration should be there mate!!

  • sweet

  • Good job. Now I want you to show me Don't take me alive.

  • Oh you're so cool Howie!!

  • awesome

  • WONDERFUL!!!!!!!

  • Second favorite solo...first being the Do It Again solo. Incredible job.

  • Best solo video on youtube so far- Keep up the great work mate

  • "Slower Vibrato"...are you kidding!!! How could you find any fault with that. It was virtually flawless. Nice Job, Dude!!

  • @cooley23 Totally flawless.I listened to the original solo so many times over the years and can't find any flaw .I also watched many of ths guys videos and he's the real shit.

  • great job. i would say to use little slower vibrato. great job though

  • Great stuff, you have really nailed the solos note for note and have the same Dan feeling. Even Jon Herrington (last Dan guitarist I'm aware of) did not reproduce solos exactly but interpreted them in his own way and stamped his own personality on them.

  • i love the second solo

  • Nice playing man!

  • ive been at it for 35 years, and after stumbling upon this i could puke....i would kick the shit out of my grandmother to be able to play that good!...how?!what the fuck?!...some of us have it , others just dont...obviously you do...and i dont....youre the man...........

  • you totally own those solos... love steely dan... after watching you I threw my guitar in the river.

  • Very nice.

  • You're brilliant. What else can be said.

  • Jeez that is awesome.. you go the stuff

  • Great job. I've been working on those for 30 years and I still don't quite have it.

PS: I understand Larry Carlton improvised those solos in only a couple of takes. Nailed it!

    Fuckin' awesome

  • I HATE YOU ,,

    LOVE,

    DENNY DIAZ

  • I absolutely hate you. Great stuff mate.

  • You sure you weren't the sessions man who played the original tracks when they were laid down?

  • DAYMN!!!

  • I CAME

  • Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

  • Outsanding! Even as a non guitar player I know you've nailed a LC guitar solo which still takes my breath away. Thanks

  • You got chops dude! I've been working on that for too long. Good job!

  • Flawless dude. You make it look easy.

  • OUTSTANDING

  • i even love the solo on the alive in america album... please can u cover that too???

  • Great job on this. Larry Carlton's solo is one of the greatest in recorded history (so is another one you do, 25 or 6 to 4).

  • I totally concur w/ your call: Carlton's solo on this tune is one of the all-timer's, and Kath's 25 or 6 to 4 shred is brilliant.

  • this was maybe the best cover of that solo on here...plus most just play the solo only, not the outro as well....very nice

  • only the best !! Fantastic !! Grüße from Germany.

  • This is one of the better Steely Dan solos out there, and I believe you did it justice. Great sound!

  • What city do you live in and do you give lessons?

  • awesome! great song and great playing!!

  • very impressive. I am completely lost trying to learn this. What key is this in???I'm thinking c maj, but then it seems like g maj in some parts. I can't find the tonal center. These types of lead with arpeggiated chord melodies kill me. Can anyone help here??

  • The solo is built around the progression.

And really good job on the song playguitarsolos. :rockokn:

  • Solos are great and all but the thing that makes Steely Dan so hot is their rhythm guitar. I check the net for "Steely Dan Guitar" and all it is is solo, solo and another solo. That's the problem is to many soloists and not enough rhythm masters. I think that's truly why music has gone to shit. Everyone wants to be a super star...

  • +1 here. Rhythm guitarists get respect in one case only; if they are the band leader and they also sing lead. Otherwise they're just not visual enough for the MTV generation to give a shit about. Denny Dias was Steely Dan's rhythm guitarist for most of their lifespan and he was as solid as a rock (and of similar temperament).

  • wow that's awesome if there's another steely dan solo i'm dying to see it's "reelin in the years"

  • nice job! where do you get the backing tracks?

  • I'm just playing along with the original mp3.

  • thats sweet guitar!

  • wow you nailed it!

  • Wooohooooo don't stop tha rockin'!

  • Eh. Great Man . You don't fail me.

  • secon comment !!!! your all video are fantastic !!!

  • First comment yea and dude keep on rocking
