Simon Phillips wasn't bad on the studio version. Anyone have that lp still? except me, save all vinyl. Some real good Schenker videos on here, great stuff.
Playing heavy metal music puts you right there with the other gladiator great! Perfect name for an equally impressive set of guitar licks! The MSG does it again.
WOW......What happened to music lately?..I could watch these "old vid's" from the past.. all day and night.....I'm I getting old ? very few can stand up to stuff like this !!!!!!
Michael Schenker is another Guitar legend. He came before Yngwie or Eddie Van Halen. He has like the best tone and melodies. His song writing is very good. Top 10 of all time in my list.
You don't know what you are talking about. Schenker was a drinker and still is I'm sorry to say. He is a musical genius. He never shot "horse". May have done some cocaine to but not "horse".
id he'd do enough he'd fall asleep. if he wojke up, he couyld play just fine. alcohol and pot limit your ability to play a lot more. coke, he'd get shaky hands.
What a fucking rip! You cant hang with that shit man.He shows once again how its not the notes you play so much, but more importantly, how you play them.
You're right - but 'real' players have respected Michael for decades. Shit, just listen! He was doing a lot of the hammer-on/pull -off stuff before Eddie came out.
time has seemed to have left MS behind, but he should be up there with all the other guitar greats, more players need to know about this guy, especially this era of his career
thanks for posting this, it brought back awesome memories of my guitar studying days!
He's in his 50's guys? I am the biggest Schenker fan in the world, but it's done. Michael Schenker was a genius at guitar in a rock band in the 70's and had a killer band in the early 80's. Schenkers heyday thank god was in the 70's, it fit him well. Rockin, drinking, smoking, girls, good time!
From what i've heard it seems the demon drink might of played its part, i saw him in glasgow last year and it seemed he was just going through the motions, maybe i expect too much but you can be sure that whenever he plays my home town, i'll be there! He is a guitar legend and will always be number one in my eyes. One of a kind and we should all be grateful for that. Still my hero.
Technique and theory huh. When it comes to song writing and very different sounding songs/solos they can't shine Schenker shoes. The 2 you name have ADD
Schenker is simply the best and this is him at his prime! I challenge any idiot that bashes him to try and play this song note for note and with feeling....GUARANTEE YOU CANT!
Some of these young guys ragging on MS,EVH,late R Buchanan,SRV,and others is ignorant.Check Becks,Cause we've ended as lovers, off Blow by Blow.Wish he still played like that. You don't hear playing like that anymore.Listen to MS,he must have perfect pitch,One of the few gp's,that can hear something in his head and play it exactly that way.great melodic phrasing, tone, vibrato.Hard to listen to a p'r without a great vibrato, comes with time and ex,most new guys seem to have lost.
"good but not great".. man.. whatever. You have some listening up to do. Michael Schenker is one of the greats.. and a legend. just ask Satriani! Schenker has influenced more players than probably any player period.
Satriani great o.k. lets talk about Satch Boggie sounds like Schenkers Ulcer instrumental about 95% of it was copies from Ulcer from 1983. Feel free to reply you might learn a thing or two.
hahaha, u make me laugh, its recognized by sooooo many people satriani is better the schenker, google any list of top guitarist, satriani is always higher, and satriani is not jsut playing random shit, my friend who is a guitar instructor talked about this, schecnker jsut plays notes really fast taht sound good together, satriani was things called dorian scaeles, and will mx and match, satriani uses techniqe, schenker is ok, but hes not close to the skill level of satriani
erurum you know guys from Metallica, Iron Maiden, def leppard, Whitesnakes, Becker, Vai, Friedman, Petrucci, Rhoads, Accept etc consider Schenker as their guitar hero and most respected by all guitar greats notice I never mention Joe as one of the great because Vai and Kirk play better than the teacher. If the two where to trades licks say when Schenker was at his prime no contest Schenker wins after the 7th trade of. Schenker has near infinite licks, tone and melody etc...
lol, yoru running out of stuff to say, lol, that last comment sounded so stupid, haha, well, still, satriaini, will alwyas be more ppopular, andin most poeples minds a better guitarist, i went to guitar center today, and was asking about schenker, and the people that worked there laughed when i brought up his name becasue he was not taht good, he would pik up a guitar and play notes that went welll together, he didnt play guitar as an art, but as a hobby,
not really, obviously you dont play anything, you use scales such as pentautanecs and dorians to create riffs, like he souds good, but from a music standpoint, its not to great
Most Guitar Center employees know as much about the guitar as nursery school girls. I routinely plug in there and vaporize those characters because they can't play. Their opinions carry about as much weight as my grandmother's when it comes to guitar playing. When guys like Malmsteen, Michael Harris, and James Byrd site Schenker as an influence, you'd better believe the man can play.
Guitar Center carries great merchandise; it's the employees they hire to sell the stuff that I have a problem with. As for your opinion, I don't agree but I can certainly respect it.
Schenker is a musical genius, and I'm sure you have none of his stuff.I like Satriani too and Satriani used to play Schenker stuff for his students. None of his solos/songs sound alike, and they are very melodic, dynamic and soulful. His is self taught and doesnt use a whammy bar or other tricks to impress. Go practice your spelling and watch your military videos. BTW Schenker writes songs not shred shit.
I checked out Schenkers discography yesterday and was blown away by how many albums he's put out. I stopped following him after the "Save Yourself" album and tour.. so I have a lot of catching up to do! Thanks for the recommendation Bad1967!
