They gotta re-record and mix this song, sounds like it'd be amazing if it was mixed a little better - by that i'm basically saying let that bass line stand out more.
I never get tired of Porcupine Tree. PT is my favourite. It got to do with the specter, the darkness, yeah all of that. I heard of them for say possible 3 years ago, I became fan after I got In Absentia and Fear Of a Blank Planet. I just got Signify and the band are now my totally favourite. I seen them two times. They where as amazing as on the records. They are so good.
@WillyTheHurricane i have seen them 3 times and it was just lovely. i have almost all albums (my dad is a collector) the only album we missing is the original futile. stars die is beautiful i can call them all up, they are all really good !
Wow is an understatement !!!! I have never heard a band that has so many albums that each one is amazing, I'm heard them for the first time, 5 years ago, I went on 2 concerts... each one of PT is a genius!!, and together they create the most amazing songs I have ever listen to... even this song ( a bonus track) is a work of art!!!
I admire each one of the members.. and I hope I could create music so beautiful...
Steven Wilson is the God of modern prog. Check out his work with Israeli singer, Aviv Geffen, in the band Blackfield also. And if you like these guys, check out the canadian band, Fen (new album "Trails out of Gloom") and Anathema's last album. All great stuff! You may not want to miss Katatonia's last album either.
Sounds a lot like an expansion of the material from Deadwing. This is something I could expect to hear as a hidden or bonus track from that disc. Very nice. =)
it seems that before going into recording a full studio album, they discard many beauties like this gem right here. no wonder their actual official albums are masterpieces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand. I just don't get how everything Porcupine Tree does, even their random throw-away b-side songs, are just so ethereal and flawless.
@seekah1 A lot of people have enormous amounts of talent, and still pop out more poorly structured songs for album filler and the like, but nearly every PT song really is a songwriting gem. Even some of the older, not-actually-song tracks from their very early releases, like Space Transmission, still serve a purpose and are easy and fun or interesting to recall.
Lots of bands have good songs, that a bunch that most people don't really care about. Porcupine Tree is just a wealth of great music.
wow this song is so full of harmony. it drives me in deeper athmospheres in which deeper in myself. it tells you the best story ever! the band is so amazing and i want to hear this song every second of my life, in every situation. : ) much respect and love!
Already released on 7" single as b side to "Shesmovedon" in 2000 and bonus mail order CD with reissue of "Lightbulb Sun" (coupled with 14+ minute instrumental backing track of "Buying New Soul"). Both now deleted.
You're right, the song surely worth USD 0.99. But I live in Argentina, a country where the vast majority of people don´t own an international credit card, which is the only way to get the song through the website. (Nevertheless, I have all their albums and some hard-to-find stuff.)
Just when I thought this song is about novak djokovic.

Theres so much great stuff by this band which they still haven't officially released on CD yet. Their B sides are better than some bands best songs!

If you get the deadwing record, which is like 150 dollars, you can get half light and so called friend on it.
tannerdrummer48 2 years ago
Pity it's impossible to get (unless you have a record player, which I don't, or buy it on-line, which isn't worth it. I want to hold it in my hands).
nitarbell 2 years ago 9
No, it isn't possible to get on-line. Maybe on e-bay, which I don't trust.

epicprogrocker 2 years ago
i can send it to you if you don't have it already
RICECAKEGOESWHEE 2 years ago
Thanks man! I already have it. I hope it is released on a physical format someday because I'm a big PT fan. Anyway, thank you again.

I was talking about the song "Meantime" from the In Absentia sessions, not "Novak". Thanks anyway.
