And I'm not making reference to our colonial past, I'm looking at the Commonwealth of Nations and the fact that we're allies and the UK provides you with military hardware. i appreciate your views.we live in a very different environment.we have almost 0% growth for the first half of 20 th century. it took lot efforts to achieve some strength and respect.in the mean while we fought 3 major wars with pakistan to which west supported through out the cold war with air, loans, arms supply.though we wanted to keep away from both superpowers , we finally had to take some help from former USSR.

@MrXray2011 UK gives about 300 millions of dollars as aid (not billions of dollars). The funny thing is, since the last four years, India has been asking UK not to send any AID but UK insists on it. This has more to do with internal politics of DFID of UK (to provide a justification for funds). And this aid has nothing to do with India's carriers.

@DarknessUnofficial Confirmed; the Royal Navy will get both QE Class' currently being built. HMS QE will be STOVL and HMS PoW will be CATOBAR. Sailors will be trained on HMS QE whilst PoW is being finished, then HMS QE will be converted into CATOBAR. The possibility of a third is a possibility and may happen. The government has put billions away to invest in the military when the economy picks up. I have not denied that this carrier will not be good, I know that it will be.

But, truth be told, Britain’s aid is just a big vanity project. It’s patronizing. India spends a lot more on poverty alleviation projects and subsidies than it spends on its defence program. Sailors will be trained on HMS QE whilst PoW is being finished, then HMS QE will be converted into CATOBAR. The possibility of a third is a possibility and may happen. And it'll sink. It's a shame but India is not ready for this yet. It needs to develop it's socio-economic status first so that they can execute this sort of project confident that it will not succumb to corruption, ineptitude or funding problems.
There's no point having carriers when you are weak economically.
Look at China, they are only now getting their first aircraft carrier. They have put a lot of work into the economy and for a lot longer.

it says that that carrier will have enough power to light up a small city, what i don't see is why india doesn't use that money to invest in its infrastructure, Like power generation so india may have a steady supplie of power or potable water production, so more indians have access to potable water or even investing in some other form of building insulation other then asbestos which will come back to hurt india in a big way in the future.
