@brownmuscle Well...not really...we speak mostly in creole, french and english....but those willing can learn Tamil in different school... there are mauritians who speak tamil but only a minority of the population unfortunately...day by day...the tamil culture in Mauritius is disappearing....
piercing is a personal choice, nobody forces u to do so.i myself had the choice n i did pierce my tongue, because tats wat I WANTED n i hav absolutely no regrets, lord muruga certainly helped me n i fely absolutely no pain watsoever.may he keeps his blessing onto me n my family...vel muruga
I myself am a Tamil and I like Lord Murugan very much and he is my favorite God. But I wonder why should we have to still follow the piercing during kavadi festival, which seems to be rather crude. We could show our devotion to Lord Muruga in more Satvic (Peaceful/Harmonious) or refined way. This is my view with concern for the devotees of our Lord Muruga because I feel the pain while seeing the piercing of the devotees.
Thanks for sharing, I didn't know about Thaipusam in this country. I wish to visit there one day. Om Muruga Sararam.

As long as devotees of lord muruga choose to show their faith and devotion one can only admire such a celebration of faith . vel muruga vel vel .
