The 90's youth scene was so much more cohesive and unified...today we have too much self intersted hedonism. I think today's kids are too selfish and can't deal with dissapointment and hurt... except emo kids which are too extreme.
It reminds me summer 91 , I was 23 , drinking Gin Tonic while listenning to this song in my car parked in a field, smoking my last cigarette before spleeping..thanks
@madferit4life dude your a fuckin fag! he was apart of the first generation of shoegazers his generation started it you fuck if you said that to my face id deck you so hard
hey dont listen to that douche bag calling you old haha your generation is the one that started shoegaze damn man i wish i was born when you were im about to turn 18 soon and i hate my generation if i could id prob be hangin with some goths, listening to some grunge and shoegaze
had soulvaki on the walkman when on holiday in menorca this year. lying in the sun, baking hot & pouring with sweat, but then slowdive pull out one of THOSE chord changes & i was getting goosepimples all over. massively underated band. thanks for this.
I think this is the song in particular (and perhaps the only one on "Souvlakia") that Brian Eno had some involvement in. He produced, engineered or played keyboards on...or something. Yeah, Brian Eno---he knew...
Brian Eno helped on two songs from souvlaki Sing and here she comes now i beleive . this was realeased well before they met Brian Eno. it was probably this song that made Brian Eno think slowdive would one day be big.
Such an amazing song, it makes me want to slip into nothingness. I think the devil is just the negative energy that is attached to his soul, in which I can relate.
listen to this on a cold and crisp winter's morning, you can feel your brain melting... what's funny is that while there are a few mbv followers that sound decent enough (lilys, fleeting joys, guitar...), there aren't any slowdive followers that i find appealing... they all sound like bland tuneless versions of slowdive...
I don't know about that, if you read the liner notes for the re-release of Souvlaki, there were some harsh words directed at them. I find with Slowdive, it's not as overdone, and the songs almost have a pop appeal to get them in your head.
Heh. Yeah, I know what you mean. It's so Austin, Texas...but from the U.K., which I guess shouldn't matter, but.... That's not why I can't listen to it, though. I started listening to it about the time a gf ditched me, and if I listen to it now I get this big lump in my throat, and I have to go samurai kick a tree until my shin bleeds. At least I'm not an alcoholic...
@madferit4life Monster Movie? Funny how you get all these new bands name checking CAN albums for band names. Pretty cool trend. when we'll we have a Soon Over Babaluma?
Rachel goddamn is beautiful. Yes, I must agree, Slowdive are beyond words and the mental images their music conjures are far superior to a video...though it's always nice to see Rachel's pretty face.
I hope everone have checked out the "I saw the sun, unreleased" Slowdive-compilation? Som really great songs on this one, and the demo-quality makes them even more dreamlike. Try piratebay if you can't find it in a shop.
beautiful guitars...incredible images....you can't ask for much more in a music video

should have been smoking something stronger than a "cigarette"
lol
plus you making slowdive sound old. this is a band for the youth and stuff for the most even if they are from the past.
just saying you 41 and digging slowdive just takes the passion away. sorry. lol.
but what do i know. im only in my mid 20's.
:o)
hitting my 30's is bad enough to think about. hitting my 40's is damn near worth suicide.

Yeah. Im glad about that to be honest. Those clinging un-orginials taint the essence of their predecessors. That is to say, "in my opinnion."

Be careful though
There are good and bad spirits that are intoxicated by the music we create
