Senna, Mansell, Prost. 3 Titans in one generation. My personal favourite was our boy Nigel, but the sheer talent he was fighting against was truly epic.

F1 will never see the like of these three guys at the same time again imo.

And for true respect, despite their fierce professional rivalry, see the video of Nigel giving Senna a lift back to the pits after Senna retired and Mansell finished the race. Class thru and thru, both of them.

@Gallyga You forgot to mention Piquet. Mansell and Senna are from the same generation ('82 and '84) Prost and Piquet are from a generation behind. ('78 and '78).

Also, Piquet won 2 WC in his first 5 years, that makes him outstanding. Usually Nigel lovers are the same people as Piquet haters, 'cause of the fight them had constantly.

But... 5 drivers that will not be forgotten.(Including Lauda, his last years, but still manage to win the '84 championship against Prost).

@Taikamya I appreciate Piquet as a racing great, just as I do Senna. There was supposed to be a lot of bad blood between Mansell and Senna too according to the media but this doesnt affect what I think of them as drivers.

I would say that Mansell was extremely unfortunate, possibly the most unfortunate driver in F1 - would have won a lot more than 1 title without all the mechanical failiure he suffered. Also won KART same year as F1, not bad at all.

Agree 100% Those days of those 4 drivers were truly magical and will never be equalled. What was great about those times was that there was a supporting cast that was so strong too.

Gerhard Berger, Riccardo Patrese, Jean Alesi to name 3 regular interlopers. And there were others like Alessandro Nannini who may have really moved on if it wasn't for his helicopter crash. I also remember a chap called Ivan Capelli who showed some real speed from time to time.

what's more important he had heart and passion for winning but without the cheating of Schumacher.

Awesome overtaking. Mansell goes ahead of Piquet in Silverstone that is Mansells hometrack. One race before Mansell F1 career in a F3 race Mansell got some fuel leak that burned in his cockpit. He still went finishing the race. Now that is strong will.

Only a madman would say Senna wasn't the better overall driver. But our Nige was pretty much the only driver of the era who gave as good as Senna did on the circuit. Prost through stratergy/pitlane, he rarely beat Senna in a straight up fight. Put two drivers in a straight up fight and I'd back Nige over anyone.

Mansell will always be my sporting hero, I grew up watching him & Red 5 battle it out with Senna (R.I.P) the '92 season saw the greatest of all F1 battles ever in my opinion...... Monaco!

Never since has there been an all out battle like that, true F1 racing at its absolute best by the two greatest drivers!

I was a huge Senna fan back in the day.

However, the ONLY F1 driver who was able to take on Senna and match him for aggression and daring, was Mansell.

All the others just paled in comparison. Mansell was ALWAYS one to watch - the battles that these two guys had were just legendary.. Those days were fantastic and I miss them so much....

Could have been, should have been WC two more times. I'd definately place him in my all time top ten. A driving style similar to Ronnie Peterson's, almost as aggresive as Giles Villeneuve. The 1990 Mexican race was one of my all time favorites, his pass on Berger -outside in the perelltata on EXTREMELY worn tires was spectacular. I would highly recomend watching that entire race if you want to see a classic battle.
