The basic difference is that if you want more basic go with Dish. If you want great technology a bit more channels and the best sports channels get Directv. There strong point is technology. Directv was the first to introduce hd channels, 3D channels and now blue ray. Plus they are always coming
Out with new stuff like setting you dvr to record through your phone. Watching tv trough your iPad. Go with Directv if you want the best resolution.
Directv has way better equipment. They hold 400 hours of recording space while dish receivers only hold less than half of that. Dish has better international/spanish packages. They do beat Directv hands down on this although if you have a multilingual home and also want English channels this might be a problem because they do sacrifice many of the channels.
Directv's HD equipment is 1) in 1080p definition which is Blu-ray equivalent so it's a higher resolution.2) Dish share receivers between multiple tvs so you actually get a diluted hd picture and remote control problems. ( evidently this is why they are a bit cheaper) they cut corners and pass the savings on to the customers. If you want the most out of your new HD tv hands downs.
I work for A company that markets both companies and can tell you honestly half of his information is off by miles. amount of channels that has is not 350 and Directv is not 250. Dish's only real advantage is that they do have more basic packages do it can be about 10.00 cheaper but if you upgrade it's almost about the same amount. Dish does not have over 200 hd channels. I guarantee it. Directv is the leader in hd channels. If you count the channels that broadcast certain shows in hd only the
Which one to choose.... None! When it rains the both lose service, if its cloudy you lose service, and comcast and verizon is better! Think for once people!
@spartant22 They do have NFL Network. I think Dish wins the battle if you're not somebody who wants to pay for extra sports packages. If you're just going to get a basic package, Dish has many different plans to choose from that are cheaper than DirecTV's cheapest plan, so you can choose a package that works for you, and their DVR system is way better. And before you call me a Dish homer, I currently have DirecTV, and am signing a new 2yr contract with them. But for just basic plans, Dish wins.
@spartant22 they dont.but they have Multi Sport Package with redzone as low as $7.you could watch Your favorite NFL games and other football games. im a dish homer too love their service
