  • i dont like that alan moore refuses to watch this movie, thats a bit cocky in my opinion, i know the novel is much more detailed and intriquite and philosophical but zach snyder did a pretty damn good job im pretty sure he was bummed to hear alan moore didnt want to watch his hard work

  • The one thing I truely loved about this film, was the opening scenes when they made the live stills into comic book panels. That gave me chills, it was a comic book bought to life perfectly. Master film making. This movie was so close to the source material. I mean there were obvious changes, but overall it was kept intact.

  • i just love the music theme here, it suits the moment right now like everything;s about to end...

  • great movie!

  • 1:51 i swear i heard this music before!!!!!!!!! in GTA 4 first trailer i think..

  • what's the name of the songs??

please, answer, I love them *¬*

  • I beleive it;s called "take a bow" by muse. This is the ocherstrated version.

  • It's called "Prophecies" by Phillip Glass

  • wow, im not a big comic book reader at all, but after hearing of watchmen kinda recently and following up on it, im dying to see the movie and im trying to raise money so i can get the graphic novel

this isnt just your normal comic book, with flashy and badass heroes spread out through the pages, this is like an ADD afflicted Socrates picking up a pencil and getting to work on a piece of paper, its a work of art

  • Look around, and you'll find more like that.

    It isn't all Super Friends.

Hasn't been for a long time.

  • well dont put down the originals, they´re what helped create newer comic ideas, they´ve just been overdone to the point where people get tired

  • I think you missed the point...

  • the comedian shouldnt have had a mustache when they showed him young

  • Maby not but he looks hotter with it :P mabt that's why.

  • Everybody talking about the penis. A perfect body, above those of humans, this is the way Manhattan shaped himself and he avoided to create anything useless to him, like clothes and hair. He is a mind of a man trapped into the body of a god, that is why he becomes more and more distant through the story. There is more violence shown than in the comic, some parts have been shortened, but it's a good movie anyway. C'mon, would you compare it with Spiderman 3 or the Blade movies? This is far better

  • actually.. you can NEVER compare it to Spiderman or Blade movies. Alan Moore didn't want this to be a "superhero" novel.. Watchmen has a completely different approach.. Average joes who wanted to be Vigilantes. They don't have any powers (except for Dr. Manhattan) and they actually have REAL personalities compared to the normal superhero who's either the unlikely hero/the badass covered in leather. This just isn't that which is why this graphic novel stands tall among the others... it's amazing

  • anyone know the name of the song in this video near the end? it's also in gta 4 i think

  • there is no such thing as to much nudity but the action/fighting was a little weak in this movie but it is still cool

  • Caught the midnight showing. Sweet tale, but a lil too much showing of a naked Manhattan.

  • I am 13... do you feel that it is WAY to graphic for a 13 year old or no

  • I think some of the violence is too much for a 13 year old, but moreover, there is nudity and a couple brief sex scenes, so I'd suggest talking to your parents about it, and maybe have one of them go see it first. Let them be the judge.

  • The film is pretty violent, some f-bombs ,sex scene with nudity and a lot of Blue Penis

  • the graphic novel? well, yeh.. i'm 15 and 4 me was pretty cool

  • omg it shows dollar bill getting killed thats going to be intresting and i want to see doc manhattan in the early satges when you can see his brain and stuff that'll be cool

  • I posted a non spoiler review of the movie on my page

  • it has a matrix kinda feel to it....

  • People bitch about the way Zach films but you cant take your eyes off the film or the action. So really I dont get the fuss.

  • Not saying this music is awful, but after the Smashing Pumkins song in the trailer, this sounds pretty bad.

  • Dude, Glass' pieces in this trailer are epic. You clearly don't get it.

  • Zach Snyder is not using his own script or storyboard. He's using the graphic novel as script/storyboard.

Sin City used the same technique. People said that wouldn't live up to the hype either? Was it one of the best comicbook adaptations of all time? Yes.

And rumour has it the Squid IS INCLUDED. They filmed a fake ending for the preview screenings, apparently, so that newcomers wouldn't know what happens. It also means us Watchmen fans have no idea what the Squid looks like, etc.

  • lets hope they leave out the giant squid that shit was retarded. they couldnt have made it like a bomb or something?

  • the squid was epic dude, shut up. >=[

  • im not saying it wasnt epic but the squid is only like 30 ft long and instead of just scaring people to death when he appears everyone is bloody and every building is destroyed

  • My friend saw it, and he said there wasn't a squid. I can understand why Snyder didn't put it in there, and to be quite frank, I think it will be a lot easier to understand for people who haven't read the GN, ya know?

  • Did you not read the book? It obviously said it sent out a giant shockwave explosion thing...besides, a bomb or something would just cause countries to blame other countries. The squid fit so freaking PERFECTLY. If they leave it out, I will be thoroughly annoyed...

  • no they just said that the squid would destroy watever was in the space it teleported to. like mega destroy. why a squid though thats just random

  • Dude, it wasn't even a squid anyway, it was an alien threat. It was the only thing crazy enough to actually unite the human race. Again, some bombs or something lame like that would completely ruin the story.

  • like the squid wasnt retarded. and Ozy catching a fucking bullet? boy the world must be stupid in that tangent if they thought that that was an alien attack

  • Are you serious? That's your argument? If new york was destroyed by a giant alien life form and millions were killed, then what the hell else could it be? "Oh the smartest man in the world devised a giant squid and teleported it here?" Yeah. Good luck guessing that one as a spectator. The impact the squid had would be nowhere near matched by bombs or something else...it just can't be matched.

  • dude theres a fucking squid in the middle of new york. i dont think a sea animal from earth screams alien attack. he couldnt have picked something more alien like?

  • I dunno about you, but I haven't seen a squid that looks like that. People just reference it as a "squid" because it has tentacles. It looks pretty alien-esque to me.

  • maybe but he should have made it like a super squid or something hes a genious. but the smart people all on one island was still pretty gay

  • Genetically modified squid that look's like a giant alien monster.

Go see the movie or read the book and you'll understand. :D

  • sadly, no squid...=( it was actually ozymandias.....(spoiler is censored).

  • anything is possible. shit we sheeple of

    americans believed for awhile that

Osma bin Laden and his men were

    behind 911.

  • Oh here we go....Another fool with a tin hat thinking America somehow pulled off the biggest secretive self-inflicted terrorist attack simply to start a war. No matter if it fly's in the face of facts or reason, the conspiracy lives on in the imaginations and through the stupidity of the gullible and skeptical. Pay no mention to the irreparable damage done to the entire nation if 911 turned out to be an inside job, surely America would have aimed for their own financial strength. Brilliant.

  • conspiracy is born in the minds of the ignorant. looking for something to stir up an argument about. 911; and inside job; bullshit.

  • denying conspiracies is also born in the mind of the ignorant, dont act like youre so sure you know whats going on with everything, nobody really knows we just all assume

  • i never said i knew whats going on with everything. i simply stated 911 was not an inside job

  • and how are you so sure of that?

  • wow... are you retarded?

  • Only USA and Europe believed that. Everybody in South America knew that was a lie. All that big useless war and they never found weapons of mass destruction, they never found anything.

  • Its not ruining anything. The point of Ozy's attack on New York was to make the world think it was underattack by an unknown force. A giant bomb that no one has ever witnessed is just replacing the squid Ozy made, its not changing the entire story.

  • I really do hope the movie lives up to the amazing trailers.

  • Me too. With 300 the trailer was so fucking awesome and the film was mediocre. It's unusual for a trailer to be a better than the film itself but it does happen.

  • But this is vastly different from the 300 trailers, which I do agree were extremely awesome. This is has a more old-school feel to it, like truly 80's. I really hope Snyder can keep that 80's comic book atmosphere present.

  • Dollar Bill at 2:39!!

    hehe..

I remember that article about him in the graphic novel where he is killed by gunfire when his cape snagged a revolving door..

sad thing about caped super heroes when put into realistic environments..

now I agree with eda Mode of the Incredibles! LOL..

  • .....WOW!

  • All the scenes are the same as the comic. MAN THIS DIRECTOR(dunno his name) IS THE BEST

  • Zack Snyder

  • the squid was the worst idea ever, thank god they are getting rid of that retarded monstrosity. it ruined the ending for me.

  • whats the name of the musical score during this vid?

  • it's Philip Glass' theme for "Koyaanisqatsi"

  • Prophecies is the name of the song.

  • That was AWSOME!!!!!

  • at least Dr manhattan is wearing pants lol

  • no, only in the parts they're showing in previews and on T.V., they wouldn't cut out the blue penis.

  • Snyder really isn't changing much except the squid.

That's why this is going to be good.

If they were going to cut anything it would be the rape scene or something like that, but they're keeping in that stuff.

    They even have Dollar Bill!!!!!

Snyder has done way better than we all thought.

  • Just like in 300, he recreates each frame in the comic book near identical to how it appears in the film. Each line of dialogue is the same, and because the graphic novel was so good, this will be the movie of 2009.

  • i like the way that all of the traillers for watchmen seem to give a completely different impression of the actuall story, like the bit with jon's accident., it doesnt make it obvious that its a flashback, it makes it seem like thats the main story,, lol

  • that's probably to throw off people new to the comic, so they don't know anything going in.

  • Yep, and on that note, it is exactly looking like the film that may spawn a major 90's grim & gritty ' era in comic book films. Soap oparatics, and glumness. It seems less invested in the superhero & high concept stuff, and more w/ the personal dramas. But, I dunno. That's what I always heard Alan Moore was a lot more at when he started this, anyway. If this keeps up, ' V for Vendetta ' is poised to remain as the ' purest ' Alan Moore film to date. ' From Hell ' being second ( sorry ).

  • This IS going to change the face of comic-book and all movies, I'm tellin' ya. Very surprised with the general feel and direction they are taking this. The characters seem a lot more deglamorized than the comics, for one. And it seems more 'bout their life stories. It's not Alan Moore's ' Watchmen ' - it's not even a comic book ' Watchmen ' - but it's looking pretty great. A gamechanger. Not a popcorn flick, but I can see it resonating with a LOT of people, all the same.

  • Doctor Manhattan's retarded. Rorshach's tight!

  • ya kiero ir a verla D:!

  • 2:17 a girl gets a hard right from the comedian

  • for anyone who thinks it will, the ending WILL NOT be changed, because in this clip it shows the owlship in antarctica (hint hint) and it shows veidt being attacked my jon's hand 2:30. They wouldn't include this scene if the ending was to be changed.

  • I don't think that's the ending people are talking about. It's the MEANS to the ending that was changed. The MANNER of attack at the end of the film that makes the world take notice. Something so strange and out of left field that the world is forced to change perspective. That is what is lost in the new film.

  • To continue... To fans of the book it would be like if somebody did a remake of star Wars and decided to keep everything basically the same, but change the ending to letting a virus into the death star to kill everyone, because the director and studios felt that the audience wouldn't "get" the original ending.

  • Do you know what they changed it to? cuz if you did you probably woudlnt be saying that

  • its changed buddy, the alien part is changed

  • they took the squid out, which is fine... that part was really dumb

  • Actually, if you look carefully in the graphic novel, Rorschach's mask *does* change. Intentionally. Throughout the comics.

On page 12 of the first book, there are three panels that have the exact same image of Rorschach, listening as a character behind him is talking. But with each three panels, the blotches on his mask are significantly different.

I, personally, was stoked to find out they were including this little detail in the movie. I am completely looking forward to it.

  • was tahat stephen mchattie as moloch?

  • no, it is matt frewer

  • Wow, I am really impressed. An adaptation such as this is bound to make a big Watchmen-fan like myself to be skeptical, but instead I'm just becoming more psyched up with each passing trailer.

It seems to be all there: the atmosphere, the odd colouring style, the emotion - everything. While I fear the final product may end up being mediocre, I'm worrying a lot less than I was several months ago.

Also, the Philip Glass music works incredibly well. I'm happy it's is ending up on the soundtrack.

  • It looks like they are going to do a good job, unfortunately I heard they are going to remove the Pirate comic from the movie as well as the Space Squid. But as long as Rorschach is badass I will be happy.

  • True. But they're going to release a DVD, i think a week or two after the debut of the film, about the tales of the Black Freighter. It's a completely animated film that is based on the comic that was shown through Watchmen and I've heard that they will show some live action footage of the news stand and the kid reading the comic. The ending...I'm nervous, but it's not stoping me from seeing this film.

  • actually it comes out 4 days after :)

  • Oh good, they pushed the release date up. Thanks

  • I agree with you. The rest is important, yes, and I was a little skeptical.... but as long as Rorschach is a complete and utter badass I can die a happy girl.

  • can`t stop watching

  • this was from comicon I think.

  • i never noticed Rorschach's mask change pattern in the book. hopefully this wont be a constant action in the film. just seems distracting. it does have a good symbolic meaning to it, though.

  • Comment removed

  • Then you can't have been reading very carefully, it changes in almost every panel.

  • pause it at 2:38 it kinda looks like Clint Eastwood

  • as if i needed a reason to re-read watchmen

  • music's badass

  • 1:51 This MUST be the opening music for this movie!

  • Its probably going to be the theme, but its supposed to open with a montage to explain the alternate 1980s with the Times are a changing by Bob dylan

  • It's lifted from the 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi - scored by Phillip Glass.

  • just from screen shots

I know the director is staying

RIDICULOUSLY true to the comic novel.

and I love WATCHMEN so to see this

as a live action movie is just going to be plain and AWESOME.

    Cant wait.

This just may become my secound favorite movie of all time.

    1. The Dark Knight

    2. WATCHMEN

  • That's just the trailer... wait till the actual movie come out :D

  • i know man! i was so glad to hear he's not really putting his own spin on it. i mean it cant really be that hard to make a good movie out of watchmen....

  • that was amazing and breathtaking and every awesome adjective that was ever created. I am so stoked for this movie!

  • my god i cant w8 4 this movie lol

  • From what I can see in this, most of the Watchmen comic has been included in the movie. Nite Owl's dream sequence, little Rorsach, and Manhattan's flashbacks. But I hope they include Rorshach and Dr. Manhattan's voice overs

  • endings changed though.

  • Not thematically. No squid, but the result is the same. That also means no secret research Island, but that was a minor bit of foreshadowing anyway. They will, however, have to change the whole thing with the Comedian confessing to Moloch, but the Comedian could have just stumbled upon a research facility that ties into the new ending. Problem solved. Even a lot of Watchmen fans disliked the squid (I loved it though). To the general population, it would have been one massive WTF moment.

  • lol u got this from itunes

  • yea i kno lol

  • this version of the song sounds very different... or is it the poor audio quality??

  • Well either way I don't really care. A true fan boy of Watchmen would fight over every scene from the movie that was cut out. But a person like me that is just ahead of the current doesn't really care at all what is changed. Because I know its not really Snyder's fault even though he is responsible for Watchmen. But it is really YOUR fault if you start taking this film seriously. I suggest you pretend it never was made if you don't like how the movie is. And stick with the Graphic Novel!

  • No one will ever be happy, what can you say...

  • Making any Graphic Novel into a movie can be a great film, but never 100% perfect. Theres always going to be someone argueing about something in a movie they did not like that was changed. I just think those Watchmen fans have over-reacted about this movie. Oh well. Fuck those fan-boys. And yea, no one will ever be satisfied.

  • This movie looks good and i'm not picky at all about the changed ending for the threatical release. I'm sure they'll have an alternate ending for the DVD release and maybe even some extended scenes that got left out from the theater. Its just that if I want to see the squid part, then I simply read the Graphic Novel and imagine the scene being played in my mind as a movie version. Even though I don't know what the DVD release will be like, but I am confident that they'll make an alternate ending

  • what's the name of the first song...??

  • (read comment below first) im going to be pissed because dr. manhattan is supposed to be the only one with real powers and altho changing your mask isnt really a significant power theres definately some kind of unnatural ability there

  • looks amazing but like whats up with Rorschachs mask? cuz i mean in the graphic novel it would change every once in a while but it was usually pretty unnoticed so they didnt really have to give a reason why but in the movie it changes pretty frequently and i hope they give an explaination as to why or

  • His mask was from the fabric of a dress that constantly changed shape. Since it's a graphic novel, you can't see it constantly changing because of the fact that the imagery itself is not constant. But there is validity within the novel behind that decision.

  • ahh see i knew it was made from that dress but i wasnt aware that it was always changing

    thanks dude

  • well since Fox are fucking bitches and this movie will probably not happen,I may as well shoot myself.

  • i new this song would be the theme tune

  • do you know the name of the song??

  • Ok,I initially had some doubts, but now this looks great.I only hope that Zack Snyder doesn't have too much slow motion.

  • Oh my GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD I love Rorschach so much. D:

His mask looks fucking awesome in this.

  • ohhh god. This looks greaat.

Jeffery Dean Morgan looks amazing as the comedian hah.

Veidt doesn't look the way he's suppose to but I think it could work.

Plus Matthew Goode is gorgeous so it's all good I guess x]

Im so ridiculously excited for this.

  • what is this song its so epic and beautiful.

  • So far all signs point to this turning out really good

  • This film looks so gorgeous. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has nailed the comedian. Patrick Wilson's sadness, and depression completely represents the heart, and soul of Nite Owl 2. And the gut who plays Ozymandias doesn't look like a villain, but he does look conflicted. Which does do a good service towards a character like Ozy.

I hope this film will be great. So far, Snyder has proven that the "Watchmen" can be made into a film. :)

  • HRVDNT itunes and quicktime are both made by apple, you can get the trailer for quicktime format on itunes.

  • hmmm I'm pretty sure that when the comedian was in the minutemen he didn't have the mustache..and was younger.. he looks a bit older than he should

    lol at captain metropolis's hair.

  • The Comedian is a 'Man's Man'; he had hair on his face and lost his virginity at least by the time kindergarten came around...AT LEAST.

  • True.

  • Looks wicked.

  • Will this ever be released in HD Quicktime?

  • yea its on itunes

  • I said QuickTime.

  • Fuck awesome

  • Holy mother.

  • wow, they really nailed the first silk spectre.

    looks great.

I'm not lovign Rorschach's voice (from the other trailers) but still.

  • No, that was me who nailed her.

  • No, it was probably The Comedian.

  • at first i was iffy on his voice too but i saw a video of alan moore reading as rorshach and it sounded just like that so...

  • This has the potential to be one of the greatest movies ever.

  • Yep, yep.

  • This boosted up my hopes lowered by the last trailer.

  • I seriously haven't been excited for a movie this much ever, and haven't been excited for anything as much in so long.

  • HOLY SH!T!!!!!

thats all i got to say

  • Moloch looks great!

  • WOAH. Wow. Just-wow. 0:57 is one of my favorite shots in the book, I'm glad they have it in the movie.

  • Same here!

  • Dick!

  • Haha! The Comedian is such a bastard...glad to see that they're making that extra clear. I mean, did you see the way he slugged that woman?! Holy crap...xD I also like the way Moloch's scene looks. It looks like it's a well made and very intense scene.

I don't like the way Veidt looks pale, sickly and has a very bad toupee...maybe it's to put the whole 'corporate man' thing into perspective.

HAha, and little Rorschach...'You're making me angry...' xD

  • Meehh...nice to see some new stuff, but it just isn't cutting it for me...and the panel to scene comparison falls incredibly short with 300's...I'm just not feeling it...it looks good though, hopefully it'll be amazing when I see the finished product from beginning to end.

  • Don't forget, 300 was Frank Miller's work. 300, Sin City, and The Spirit are all literal translations of each comic panel to film. Frank Miller also produces the films of his comics, so it's his money that puts the literal thing up there. This is an adaptation. Changes are indefinite.

  • There are changes in all three films. Miho's hair for instance.

  • Not to forget, in the comics Denny Colt doesn't die. He's just believed to be dead.

  • I thought as much, still doesn't bode well with me...=/

There were a lot of great scenes I thought would be awesome to see come to life exactly the way they were...well at least that mars scene is exactly the way it was...kinda sad, but I'll take what I can get..

  • alright, you just can't please this guy. It's not freaking easy to make a movie where they directly copy the comic panel to the storyboard. Directors and actors still want to make their own mark. and that's good. maybe the way it looks in the comic is not the way the actor can best potray his/her character. You need to calm down, after Sin City every1 expects movies to b direct translations. There are lots of good comic book movies that have no direct panel to screen shots

  • ...Yeah...I know...I thought I already made that clear...

  • Well it's fine to do a noir piece like Sin City or a campfire tale like 300 shot for shot, but Watchmen is different.

The director needs to focus more on details and the drama rather than the style.

And I still think this is too stylized for Watchmen.

  • ...Yeah, I get that...

  • AAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!awesome

  • oh my fucking god! =O i cant wait!!
