  • haha...this pedal sounds good.

  • I got the pedal and its awesome. Not suited for ultra high gain but for anything from classic rock to hard rock it rocks and it cleans up nicely with rolling the volume down even with active pickups.

  • does it require different adaptor for 9 volts and 18 volts? or do you just flip a swithch and it doubles de voltage internally?

  • Who pissed off the Bees?

  • Got this pedal, and no disrespect, but I couldn't disagree more. This pedal is great for all kinds of hard rock'/metal goodness. I use if for a Kings X-type sound. The dudes amps sounds flat, obviously adding a pedal to that is going to going to make it sound flat. Also, the mixing of the live mic is really compressing your sound with the lack of master volume hearing your picking attack.

  • I think you demo'd this pretty well. Thank for posting.

  • I'm not sure about this pedal now.I saw Metal Mike demo this pedal with a Jackson Rhoads through a Fender amp and it killed. Then I here this and it totally sounds like shit!!!

  • Those are cool effects, you should check out this true bypass looper too, watch on You Tube ID "xj7P-ajPeZM"

  • this pedal is actually good but this guy doesn't demonstrated it capabilities really well

  • see the gain knob? GOOD....now turn it DOWN!!!! then play something good

  • @1952Telecaster the pedal sucks, if i wanted a overdrive there are far better options , my main reason for demoing this pedal is to show ppl that it sucks and they should buy something else, .....i love maxon stuff usually but this is a turd. ...for me anyway

  • @joemiracle220 There were some of these pedals that had different op amp chips inside. There are 4 chips in each SM-9 and Maxon switched to using inferior chips when they ran out during manufacturing. The ones that are great sounding are the ones with 4 x JRC4558D op amp chips.

  • @joemiracle220 The three best overdrive pedals in my opinion are the Seymour Duncan Power Grid, the Digitech Tone Driver and the discontinued Zoom Hyper Lead. I know there are a ton of the out there and I probably tried have of them before purchasing them three.

  • @joemiracle220 I dont see why anyone would demo how bad a distortionpedal for metal sounds... I mean, its obvious... Good tone for metal = good highgain AMP. A pedal cannot recreate the sound of a good highgain amp. Good rack equipment can though, Axe Fx for example...

  • @GibsonRocker1958 take a listen to the Amptweaker Tight Metal. I say that pedal does sound like an amp.

  • @joemiracle220 Maybe you should first know the diff between an overdrive pedal, and a distortion pedal, before you do vids ragging on other peoples hard work. Just sayin. You can hate the pedal as a "distortion pedal", but dont hack on it if youre looking for an overdrive pedal. Apples/oranges.

  • no offense to your review or video but I gotta say the pedal sounds terrible: I got an Ibanez sm9 and it sounds incredible; no tin can sound, very warm and smooth; kinda like a mesa mark iii seriously: In my opinion get the original sm9 off Ebay; you will NOT be disapointed. Its such a shame they dont make stuff like they used too; All the "metal" pedals today are processed, cold, garbage.. But good video LOL

  • Wtf The gain doesnt change at all when you adjust it? My Ibanez SM9 is a beast and the new Maxon one is like ridiculously over priced. May look the same but wow nothing close

  • I mean, its alright for beginners and noobs out there, like kind of a starter pedal. But for the more experienced, id probably go for more of a blackstar or line 6. Personally that is.

  • Comment removed

  • their sound is similar to Danelectro Fab Metal

  • The Old SM9 was capable of great tones ,as long as you don't EQ it badly .Any distortion pedal can sound bad in the wrong hands .Don't let this terrible demo put you off.

  • @ajpeagle My SM-01 maxon also has 5 knobs, smaller knobs, not the typical maxon knobs... whats up with that?

  • Well, what can you do... Too bad because Maxon is such a great pedal effect manufacturer. All other Maxon pedals I've tried sounds amazing.

  • @strybel IMO no,

  • Buzzzzzzzzzzz... Too bad it has almost same name as old Maxon/Ibanez SM9 and nothing in common. I'm sorry to say that, but for me, it sucks big time.

  • @SuspiriaXP i agree, i had high hopes but they were dashed......thought id do a demo of it b4 i sent it back to save ppl the trouble

  • Your amp has a nice clean tone!

  • @jeserty6 thanks
