Look, in that hole behind you. It's the biggest Western Diamond Back I've ever seen. He's twenty feet if he's an inch. Ooops, he's seen you, an he's not to happy about it. Here he comes. Whatever does he want? Oh, I think he's going to envenomate you. Yes, that's it allright. I don't suppose you want to hear what happens to you after one that big bites you. Look up fasciotomy. That's what they do to arms or legs to keep them from bursting from the swelling. There's also NO pain med that works.

Not to worry. Not only did I check out the area first, I keep a little .410 Snakecharmer shotgun within arms reach. But I know those rattlers are nasty. Sometimes I take out my little .22 and put in low velocity target loads. I don't have to aim, the snake strikes at the heat signature and blows its head off (high velocity is just too quick for them).
