I dont know what mix he was using but regular tanks contain 78% nitrogein, 21% air, and 1% other gases. He was pushing his limit at 90m+ (288ft+). Ever 33ft (about 10.3m) is one an extra atmophere. He was under about 10atmospheres. He was breathing heavy. The amount of air is not only encificent, but at that depth requires lengthy decompression stops, a tradgety was in sights. RIP Yuri :(
Every day 1 diver to dead on Blue Hole. Think again.
Technical divers drag bodies of the lost divers in the high sea, for an arch, there, where absolutely the few swim away, that divers them did not see. And that dead persons at the bottom of Blue Hole for a long time already steels "sight"... About half from victims lift on a surface. And the others remain eternally to be based in a chasm... From many there already remained only scuba... Let they are based with the world...
This guy tried diving to 300 feet on oxygen alone. He was so drunk at that depth that he didn't know up from down. Something probably told him he was in trouble, but he didn't have the reasoning power to know what to do about it.
Down about 8 drinks real quick, then look at the video to figure out what is happening... you'll understand somewhat.
i recon it was suicide, not that narcosis whatever, they say he took all his equipment off on wikipedia i think. and why was he checking his depth right up until his end?
any average joe can go on wikipedia and type stuff in, if he took off all of his gear how did he sink??? theres lots of things that could have happened narcosis is very likely, but it could be something as simple as heart attack, i recon u dont dive because if you did youd know it is such a awsome experience you wouldnt think of suicide no matter what was going on above water,
I speak russian and from what the diver said before he died, he was talking about his failed relationship with his girlfriend. So he basically committed suicide. He knew he didn't have enough oxygen tanks to go in the blue hole.
Why do they talk that jibberish? Can't they talk American like all the other people? (JOKING) I wish I spoke Arabic - the video was bad enough without the narration, but I don't now the cause. Did he over stay his air supply? Or was it something more complex?
just wanted to correct something this is not Arabic this is Hebrew .. i honestly don't understand what he's sayin ...but i think that he exceeded the depth limit and he died becoz of high preasure.
It would bee horrible to discover that, a hobby sometimes with a consiquence, amazing when cautious, it catches the best of divers off guard. R.I.P to all who it catches x x
this was not an accident.....sadly and unfortunately, he was killed, in the footage at 5:12 there is some of a fish that ripped him to pieces.....R.I.P
correct me if im wrong but with normal compressed air in ur tank ur max depth is 60m.. u need nitrogen/oxygen/helium mix to go 100m..and then another mix (not sure) for a max 200m dive... so why did he go so deep on just 1 oxy tank ( if that pic is him with the tank floating above him)
Some unexperienced divers tried (and failed) to make a fast descend in the blue hole, getting disorientated (and drowned), but it was not the case of Yuri Lipski. The never found his body.. I read on a site that it is still a mystery of his death but the most possible conculsion would be because of his fast decent he lost control of his body and became blacked out losing his regulator and became tangled in the sand which drowned him.
he was dead way before he could have been tangled in the sand
he was diving air... i dont know if you you tech dive, but if you do you know that you should never dive deeper than 150 ft on air, and after 210ish feet it becomes toxic and will kill you this is around 450 feet
lipski didnt die due to a shark pullin him down...he descended to the bottom to fast and hit 91 meters....he blacked out...got confused and tangled and drowned.
its not. dont worry this isnt one of those copy and paste or will die messages. its a true story. there was this guy who concreted his feet and jumped into his swimming pool. some guy tried to help him out but he was too heavy but he was still looking around under water after 15 minutes! he passed out 3 minutes later and he finally died after 28 minutes with no air. its in the guinness book of records as the longest time someone has survived with no air.
I agree with u. This guy didn't everything a good diver wouldn't. One tank and a buddy he didn't even know. Ah, i don't know how he was allowed to dive. I think this dive site should be more controlled and psych evaluations too. I saw some footage were this dude said he had a calling from the blue hole, go figure. No experience and mental issues for sure. This vid should be viewed by all propected divers to the hole
Yes, indeed that is Yuri. I have to assume that this guy Yuri had some sort of mental issues or impairment by doing the blue hole on that equipment. Plan? wonder what was he thinking and who agreed to go down with him. There should be some sort of regulation on that site and a good psychiatric evaluation before they are allowed to dive. His footage should be viewed ( MANDATORY) by those who venture to the hole.
Variety of reasons for carbon dioxide not being expelled completely when the diver exhales: The diver is exhaling into a vessel that does not allow all the CO2 to escape to the environment. The diver then re-inhales from that vessel. The carbon dioxide scrubber in the diver's rebreather is failing to remove sufficient carbon dioxide from the loop. The diver is over-exercising, producing excess carbon dioxide due to elevated metabolic activity. Too deep too fast. Probably caused carbon dioxide
I am an advance diver. He made many mistakes which cost him his life. He decented without his buddy, his biggest mistake, if he had his diving partner with him, he would be alive today. God bless him and his family. It wasn't suicide, you can't make mistakes when diving, you have to always use extreme care. Thats why I never dive below 120 Feet.
I can't take any more of this. "I am an advance diver"...? You idiot. If you knew what you were talking about, you could see exactly what happened. 23 y.o. Cowboy diver + bounce dive = dead. Why?
1) He was using an open circuit single. Hear the bubbles?
2) He was on AIR (fact), which means...
3) Rapid onset N2 Narcosis followed by either Pulmonary or CNS O2 tox. In short, he narced out, oxtox fitted, spat his reg, died. Simple.
This is why people die. Lack of knowledge. Like all you muppets.
Well said, truly sad that it happened, but lack of knowledge kills divers,i hope that this is used as a lesson to all"recreational"divers out there who think they are invincible
Well said amidyville... so many armchair divers with so many breathtaking snippets of diving knowledge - not! How long will it take for folk to learn that what is written in text books about Narcosis, Oxygen toxicity and depth/endurance calculations are TRUE... believe it or die, simple.
I Fucking bet that you are not a diver, if you call a regulator " a thing in his mouth" and there is nothing in there that will or would attack a diver..............................you should notr drink to much while looking at you tube DUDE
So basically you're saying he made very poor decisions and narced out. I'm not a diver. I don't know these things. I just see toward the end, he looked at his depth gauge several times and saw he was at 80-90 meters, and instead of instantly going back up, he stayed down there... was it just too late at that point? If you dive with this equipment, and fall fast, and look at your depth gaughe and see you're at 80 meters, is there anything you can do?
It didnt look to me like he was paying attention. He had a camera, which meant he wanted to watch something when he got home.
When you listen to the audio of the breather, you can hear a long vent after he checks his dive comp. Sounds to me like it was an "OH SHIT, IM OUTTA AIR."
Im not a diver, but dont you have problems if you try to rapidly ascend. If he knew this, would he stay at the bottom cause he knew what would happen either way.?
You can see in the clip (and by the distinctive retro-valve primary regulator sounds) that he is using the Dacor Viper. This reg had many manufacturing issues. Specifically, excess cromating of the internal compnonets which would release COCh2 gas under extreme depths into the secondary regs..He was never down long enough for oxygen toxicity; this was foreign gas ingestion...his family should sue Dacor...This is really a tragedy!!!
i was there when they took his body out side from the sea after 2 days from his death , it's a real story hear it people( this diver who died his name is yuri lipskis he is from Russia he is 24 years old , he dead when he dived in Dahab city in egypt at the blue hole site , he get panic and that,s what happened with him , his name is written in the mountain of dahab city beside the blue hole site from his mother.May god bless his soul and may god be with his family . Dm(Safa)
Oh, you know that for sure eh? Did he tell you from 'the other side' or what? IF he was any kind of experienced diver he would know that a single 12 litre tank aint enough for that kind of depth and air is a potential killer at that depth. Either a BIG stupid fuck-up or........ SUICIDE!!!
Well, i saw some footage where other divers heard him say he had a calling to do the hole. Serious mental issues i would say killed this dude. 100% stupid
If it is true that he did the dive on a single cylinder of AIR and went to 90+ metres one should not discount the possibility of suicide. If he was an experienced diver then he would have known that he may well be on a 'one-way ticket'. Either he wasn't as knowledgable and experienced as people make out or he got what he actually wanted.
A single cylinder of AIR to dive to 90+ metres... has anyone considered suicide? All the time he was on bottom his hands were not visible on camera, he may have been securing himself to something on the bottom?
What is REALLY sad is that people think that this kind of 'cowboy' diving is cool and clever and want to try it themselves. Not so long back 3 Russians tried to see how 'deep' they could go using the same crazy set-up as this guy - 1 cylinder of air - they never came back either! I don't feel sorry for anyone who wipes-out in this way, only for their dependants and family back home. What do they acheive or prove at the bottom of a 'bounce' dive? Nothing, nothing at all.
those last images the guy was only diving on a single tank, and those tec's were on twins, with mixed gas cylinders, what was that guy doing with one cylinder
Would have been a lot better had the rove at the biggening only filmed the bodies from a distance instead on disturbing them for no reason. Didn't look like a recovery mission seeing they wasn't recovering, only poking and proding the bodies
because of the underwater streams inside the tunnel at blue hole you sometimes end up caught inside the tunnel and die people die every year there.. i have been there last spring.. the latest memorial plate is from this dude in 2007..
I have a theory that one of two things occurred. (1) he was murdered and someone kept pushing down on him until the bottom (glimpse of murderer at 3:35-:52), maybe pulling out his air hose; or (2) that he had a heart attack, stroke, or seizure that paralyzed him, until he reached the bottom. Once at the bottom, he regained consciousness. He had narcosis and was disoriented and couldn't get out of it. What do you think of these theories?
someone couldnt have been pushing down till he bottomed, because he bottomed in less than 6 min(watch time in video)which is extremely fast decent and he would have to stop to equalize for pressrue or switch air tanks to mixed gas. my theory his boyancy vest hose popped which left his weight belt to sink him to the bottom. or suicide
anyone trying to do this would die of caissons disease pretty soon after reaching the surface, if he could survive the trip up that is. when you dive your lungs get filled with compressed air, this air expands when you accend, but while accending he would die of lung overexpantion.. both horibble ways to go. my sympathy goes out to the man's family, friends, and him offcourse.
Who is responsible? If cylinders were provided by the boat, he had no way of being sure of what's inside. I'm very concerned that there is so little detailed information available about this accident. Stinks like a coverup by the operators.
He seemed to still be ok when he hit the bottom and was checking out his computer. This indicates that he was still in control.
My theory... he was confident in his descent. But... he thought he was going down with on a mix. He might had taken a wrong cylinder or had his cylinder mixed up while on the boat. His breathing was slowing down towards the end as O2 poisoning started kicking in. It had to be the air.
I don't understand his descent at all. I didn't notice any attempts to regain buoyancy. He seemed to exhale normally which would add to his descent rate. I didn't notice any attempts to slow his descent by swimming up.
This guy was diving at 90 meters with a single compressed air tank ... only to think of such a dive with that equipment is suicide. at 40 meters you already start loosing your head from nitrogen narcosis, at 90 meters, it's just your brain does not respond anymore... you hallucinate, you suck the entire tank in about 5 minutes because the volume you breath is 9 times bigger. all that without mentioning that at that depht oxygen is also very toxic. That poor guy was reckless.
When you film underwater you have to filter out the red spectrum, when Yuri started to panic the last thing on his mind was controlling his camera and the red spectrum flooded the shot.
I think his buoyancy controller malfunctioned and for some reason he did not drop his weight belt. He either did not think of it or could not find the buckle in time. He would have been toast a couple minutes in even if he did drop it.
why dont people go in there with those propeller-fan type machines that help you zoom through the water if things go bad? i'm not a diver but u'd think that some sort of safety apparatus could be protocol...
The divers name was Yuri Lipski he dived in with to much weight on him and went far to deep 80 meters+ he got entagled in the sand or and paniced, when he was panaicing he riped his skin up he took off the air thingy or breather and just let himself died the reason why he died was he went to deep with to much weight and inexperience.
There are many dive spots called 'blue holes' around the world. They are almost always a spot where there is a vertical cave that appears in the bottom of whatever body of water you're in. Some empty out into other caves, and some just stop, almost like a pit. There are three in Guam as well, I've been in one. When they are deep enough, they just look like a blue hole from above because you can't see the bottom.
The Blue Hole is a submarine pothole (a kind of cave), around 130m deep. There is a shallow opening around 6m deep, opening out to the sea and an 26m tunnel, known as the arch, the top of which is 52m. The hole itself and the surrounding area has an abundance of coral and reef fish.
IZzachan: This is not the original footage but an edited Israeli documentary "The Rapture of the Deep". These guys are only "experts" in the way that they're scuba divers, not soundmen who have taken the footage apart and listen to it. Sound is very distorted underwater.
Some instructors think that it is cool to go really deep. In Egypt "bounce diving" is too often common practice. To show off he went alone with his diving computer, and a video camera to prove how deep he was. He filmed his computer at both 81mts and 91mts. At this depth he has CNS O2 poisoning as well as narcosis. CNS 02 poisoning made him convulse, spit out the regulator, and drown. what sounds like help is a hiccup reflex from the convulsion. He dove without PROPER TRAINING and it killed him
I am a technical diving instructor. I will try to give you a short explanation. Some instructors think that it is cool to go really deep. In Egypt "bounce diving" is too often common practice. To show off he went alone with his diving computer, and a video camera to prove how deep he was. He filmed his computer at both 81mts and 91mts. Mate, do you know anything about diving? Judging by your comment I would say you don't have a clue what you're on about. Stupid opinions like yours should be kept quiet.
Maybe you should try diving, find out the basics about the theory of it, and then rethink your stupid comment.
Unforseen things can happen at any depth, also I bet you didn't know that the mojority of Lung Overexpansion injuries and air embolisms (DCI) occur between 10m and the surface. This means your theory of staying shollower and nothing will happen is rubbish my friend.
You must be thinking about casual rec dives. But these guys are at serious depth, using gas mixes and massive decomp stops. Actually quite easy to die on these things.
I can see a tentacle in the lower left hand corner. This dude was eaten by a squidor octopus!! You can hear the slurp soundsand the crunching of his bones. He didn't make too much noise because of the poison that the squid has.

This is why people die. Lack of knowledge. Like all you muppets.
amidyville 3 years ago 22
Well said, truly sad that it happened, but lack of knowledge kills divers,i hope that this is used as a lesson to all"recreational"divers out there who think they are invincible
lauragsi 3 years ago
Well said amidyville... so many armchair divers with so many breathtaking snippets of diving knowledge - not! How long will it take for folk to learn that what is written in text books about Narcosis, Oxygen toxicity and depth/endurance calculations are TRUE... believe it or die, simple.

how did the diver actually die in the video?

yuri died when his air thing came out of his mouth or something attacked him and forced him down

mangethegamer 2 years ago
So basically you're saying he made very poor decisions and narced out. I'm not a diver. I don't know these things. I just see toward the end, he looked at his depth gauge several times and saw he was at 80-90 meters, and instead of instantly going back up, he stayed down there... was it just too late at that point? If you dive with this equipment, and fall fast, and look at your depth gaughe and see you're at 80 meters, is there anything you can do?

omg that would be the worst thing ever i dnt relly fell its right to show this man dieing like this but idk R.I.P

current or something dat makes him go down or something
chargerboy411 3 years ago
It didnt look to me like he was paying attention. He had a camera, which meant he wanted to watch something when he got home.
When you listen to the audio of the breather, you can hear a long vent after he checks his dive comp. Sounds to me like it was an "OH SHIT, IM OUTTA AIR."
Im not a diver, but dont you have problems if you try to rapidly ascend. If he knew this, would he stay at the bottom cause he knew what would happen either way.?
Sad either way.

Jesus, it's a graveyard down there. I'll think more than twice befor ever diving there!

You can see in the clip (and by the distinctive retro-valve primary regulator sounds) that he is using the Dacor Viper. This reg had many manufacturing issues. Specifically, excess cromating of the internal compnonets which would release COCh2 gas under extreme depths into the secondary regs..He was never down long enough for oxygen toxicity; this was foreign gas ingestion...his family should sue Dacor...This is really a tragedy!!!

i was there when they took his body out side from the sea after 2 days from his death , it's a real story hear it people( this diver who died his name is yuri lipskis he is from Russia he is 24 years old , he dead when he dived in Dahab city in egypt at the blue hole site , he get panic and that,s what happened with him , his name is written in the mountain of dahab city beside the blue hole site from his mother.May god bless his soul and may god be with his family . yes we can say it is suicide!!!
he did the very stupidest thing in his life!!
why is he dive in that deep sea with single what do you call that thing on their back??
i think on that kind of deep water u need three right??three or two tank on their back right??
GwapoSaDMMA 3 years ago
shut the fuck up Berkcam its not a suicide idiot..
lordthugui 3 years ago
Oh, you know that for sure eh? Did he tell you from 'the other side' or what? IF he was any kind of experienced diver he would know that a single 12 litre tank aint enough for that kind of depth and air is a potential killer at that depth. Either a BIG stupid fuck-up or........ SUICIDE!!!
Berkcam 3 years ago
Well, i saw some footage where other divers heard him say he had a calling to do the hole. Serious mental issues i would say killed this dude. 100% stupid
SailsOfSharon 3 years ago
If it is true that he did the dive on a single cylinder of AIR and went to 90+ metres one should not discount the possibility of suicide. If he was an experienced diver then he would have known that he may well be on a 'one-way ticket'. Either he wasn't as knowledgable and experienced as people make out or he got what he actually wanted.
Berkcam 3 years ago 4
Suicide!
Berkcam 3 years ago
you could be right there mate
ButtsontheBarbie 3 years ago
A single cylinder of AIR to dive to 90+ metres... has anyone considered suicide? All the time he was on bottom his hands were not visible on camera, he may have been securing himself to something on the bottom?
Berkcam 3 years ago
What is REALLY sad is that people think that this kind of 'cowboy' diving is cool and clever and want to try it themselves. Not so long back 3 Russians tried to see how 'deep' they could go using the same crazy set-up as this guy - 1 cylinder of air - they never came back either! I don't feel sorry for anyone who wipes-out in this way, only for their dependants and family back home. What do they acheive or prove at the bottom of a 'bounce' dive? Nothing, nothing at all.

Alb1rdy 3 years ago
did they just leave him at the bottom?
alboman1 3 years ago
I have a theory that one of two things occurred. (1) he was murdered and someone kept pushing down on him until the bottom (glimpse of murderer at 3:35-:52), maybe pulling out his air hose; or (2) that he had a heart attack, stroke, or seizure that paralyzed him, until he reached the bottom. Once at the bottom, he regained consciousness. He had narcosis and was disoriented and couldn't get out of it. What do you think of these theories?
southbend891 3 years ago
someone couldnt have been pushing down till he bottomed, because he bottomed in less than 6 min(watch time in video)which is extremely fast decent and he would have to stop to equalize for pressrue or switch air tanks to mixed gas. my theory his boyancy vest hose popped which left his weight belt to sink him to the bottom. or suicide

but why nobody who died took off his weight and swom up so fast as he could?
SkinnW 3 years ago
Yes, i think considering its around 100m reasonable. But he really needs to get in a tank then i think to decompress.
Primeevil30 3 years ago
anyone trying to do this would die of caissons disease pretty soon after reaching the surface, if he could survive the trip up that is. when you dive your lungs get filled with compressed air, this air expands when you accend, but while accending he would die of lung overexpantion.. both horibble ways to go. my sympathy goes out to the man's family, friends, and him offcourse.

That was Yuri who died. For those of you who want to know why he was not with his buddy,is becuase he thought he was expierenced enought to go alone.
Ronhend 3 years ago
Who is responsible? If cylinders were provided by the boat, he had no way of being sure of what's inside. I'm very concerned that there is so little detailed information available about this accident. Stinks like a coverup by the operators.
DrTTube 3 years ago
He seemed to still be ok when he hit the bottom and was checking out his computer. This indicates that he was still in control.
My theory... he was confident in his descent. But... he thought he was going down with on a mix. He might had taken a wrong cylinder or had his cylinder mixed up while on the boat. His breathing was slowing down towards the end as O2 poisoning started kicking in. It had to be the air.
DrTTube 3 years ago
I don't understand his descent at all. I didn't notice any attempts to regain buoyancy. He seemed to exhale normally which would add to his descent rate. I didn't notice any attempts to slow his descent by swimming up.

i really dont understand why he could sink and die. it must be something with the narcosis. why else he not just drop he´s weights?
i´m only advanced, i really want to understand this accident...!
i feel very sorry for this mate:-(
paparazzizi 3 years ago
This guy was diving at 90 meters with a single compressed air tank ... only to think of such a dive with that equipment is suicide. at 40 meters you already start loosing your head from nitrogen narcosis, at 90 meters, it's just your brain does not respond anymore... you hallucinate, you suck the entire tank in about 5 minutes because the volume you breath is 9 times bigger. all that without mentioning that at that depht oxygen is also very toxic. That poor guy was reckless.

bigd270 3 years ago
When you film underwater you have to filter out the red spectrum, when Yuri started to panic the last thing on his mind was controlling his camera and the red spectrum flooded the shot.
thegirl44 3 years ago

M4X1984 3 years ago
There are many dive spots called 'blue holes' around the world. They are almost always a spot where there is a vertical cave that appears in the bottom of whatever body of water you're in. Some empty out into other caves, and some just stop, almost like a pit. There are three in Guam as well, I've been in one. When they are deep enough, they just look like a blue hole from above because you can't see the bottom.
b1cc2 3 years ago
Then it would be a dark hole, no it's blue from seeing it from under water.
Primeevil30 3 years ago
Its near syira and Dahab Egypt
HabboStories 3 years ago

Seems like he'd have to be pretty dumb to die on a dive. Maybe he should have stayed closer to the surface.
p1q0 3 years ago
Mate, do you know anything about diving? Judging by your comment I would say you don't have a clue what you're on about. Stupid opinions like yours should be kept quiet.
eddev 3 years ago
Maybe you should try diving, find out the basics about the theory of it, and then rethink your stupid comment.
Unforseen things can happen at any depth, also I bet you didn't know that the mojority of Lung Overexpansion injuries and air embolisms (DCI) occur between 10m and the surface. This means your theory of staying shollower and nothing will happen is rubbish my friend.
eddev 3 years ago
This dive is no joke, no doubt about it.
You must be thinking about casual rec dives. But these guys are at serious depth, using gas mixes and massive decomp stops. Actually quite easy to die on these things.
