burned and several others were damaged. One person died.

大岩オスカールスタジオからのお知らせ：
９月26日午後６時55分ごろ、瀬戸内海の男木島の植田鉄工所
付近から火災が発生し、火元のすぐ隣にあった旧公民館も全焼、展示中
だったインスタレーション作品「大岩島」が焼失しました。もともと古い建築物に設置されていることと、画材に油性ペンを使っているため、最初から長い年月はもたないものだと思っていましたが、予想外の終わりを迎えてしまいました。
7月19日にオープンした瀬戸内国際芸術祭は30万人を超える人が来場し、男木島にも４万人が訪れているということです。あと１ヶ月の会期を残してとても残念な出来事ですが、これからも多くの作品を発表をしていきますので、今後ともよろしくお願いします。
