Please let me know if this GE Evolution really has that much of a better sound quality and chatter ( I'm not that interested in the detail as much because of my poor eye sight) than any other MTH Premier or Lionel diesel. Before I spend close to $750.00 for the CP vision line is it worth the difference in the price. And which next two diesels would have the best quality total sounds under it.
If you Google the 3 rail 0 gauge Forum, then look up GE Evolution Hybrid, you will see a few current threads about this engine. Lots of comments from seasoned model railroaders.
The features are extensive including functioning exhaust fans on the top of the engine which are synched with the rpms. Very, very, cool. I did not realize the fans worked until after I bought the engine. Pleasant surprise.
@havens51 .....something else I learned about this engine. If you have Legacy, when your in "speed button" mode, hit the symbol with the little "1" in it, notice the lights change direction....its the small things like that that make this engine unique
Thank you very much for the heads up. I set up my Legacy this afternoon. I will check that out. I cannot believe no one has made more of a fuss about the functioning turbo (?) fans which are synched with the audio of engine ramping up and down. I think this is super. See video.
not just the turbo fans, but the limited smoke output (or lack thereof). Everyone needs to read page 5 about the smoke unit in this engine...then it will be more understood.
there's nothing wrong with the smoke unit. Its realistic in how it works. Its not as constant as an MTH engine. It gives off a wisp in idle and sends out a plume of smoke when the engine ramps up...remember, its a Hybrid :-)
Truth is, the video does not do the engine justice. The sound effects are truly outstanding. It has a solid look and feel. Being die cast, it takes two hands to pick it up. The detailing and removable cab roof and opening doors and hatches with interior details are really special.
Not yet. I have not run it that much. i have the UP Genset (actually 2) and I like it as much as the GE

Sounds like a great engine! What size curves are you using? I know that engine is long!

it will be fine on anything 0-54 and higher...I don't have anything smaller as of now.
