Nice buck! if ya get a buck like that on wasatch front you earned it good job! some the best bucks are taken on public land are on the wasatch front. and it is because it is archery only! and alot of hunters I know let the little ones become big ones!

Just replying to some of the comments (I don't get on here very often) it's a 169 with a changed frame & has a 5 inch inline. So yes, he is a 170 frame.

& yes it was east of Salt Lake City, & the buck was running. He was on a doe so it was easier for me to get him, but I still followed him for 45 mins & drew back a couple times before I made a good shot.

Utah has the best mule deer hunting in the country. I've taken 3 nice bucks - all 170 B&C or better over the last 3 years up in the Uintas. This guy took his buck during the extended archery hunt in the mountains just east of Salt Lake City, right during the rut which probably helped.

@muleywatcher Nah, I stick to the rifle season. Fortunately nobody else goes where I go - even during the general season, and I get my choice of bucks each fall. Now I need to get myself a nice elk.

I have lived in Utah my whole life, this guy was just lucky. Most of Utahs Elk and Deer are pretty small unless you draw a limited tag

My mule deer scores 177 1\8 and looks a fair amount larger. I have a video of him on my channel if you wanna take a look.

Shit thats a good buck. Good dark color and mass. Could use some extra body....and yes thats a poke cuz our Alberta bucks are really big bodied. Pleas tell me your having that one mounted cuz if it were me in the video, id be holding his horns up with one hand and have the cell phone in the other hand talking to my taxidermist.
