  • The Council of the Gods included everyone. Including you and me. We were there. And, there was no Creation Ex-Nihilo. That would violate physics as we understand them. So, the Ancient Hebrews had it right.

  • great video! i learned a ton.

  • This one really *WAS* fun to produce. Thanks man!

  • Kerry, you're not arrogant, at all. "Arrogant" seems to be a key word employed by the Establishment to silence or undermine any uncredentialed person (i.e., prostitute) who knows anything.

  • It seems like an extraordinary amount of work to say that the Biblical writers didn't mean that Hashem was really the only god, and completly misses the point. Furthermore, there are many passages in the Naviim and Nt which are clear on this, I just wonder, isn't it like straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel, just to defend your ideas from a Navi sheker?

  • "Navi sheker"

The definition of the navi sheker, the false prophet, usually focuses on two distinct cases: 1) one who presents himself as a prophet in the name of avodah zarah, idolatry; and 2) one who presents himself as a prophet in the name of Hashem but who declares that any mitzvah is no longer binding

  • according to that definition Smith was a navi sheker.

  • "according to that definition Smith was a navi sheker. "

I am sure the Pharisees said the same thing about Jesus the Christ who is my Lord and King!

  • You are aquating Smith with Jesus? Jesus taught one God, by definition of this person's video, they are saying otherwise. If Jesus is your king, why are you following lies?

  • No, he is equating the charge by the Jews that Jesus was a false prophet with the charge by you that Joseph Smith was a false prophet.

Jesus did not teach one God; He taught a God greater than Himself. Jesus taught that the Father is God and greater than Himself. Jesus also taught that He is the OT God of Israel, with the declaration "before Abraham was I Am". The Jews understood Jesus to be saying that He was the God who spoke to Abraham "I Am God Almighty" and appeared to Moses as "I Am".

  • Thomas also understood that Jesus was God, when he exclaimed " My Lord and my God!", but Jesus had told them to pray unto the Father in my name and to worship the Father as the one true God. Still, he didn't correct Thomas' exclamation that He was Thomas' God, so Jesus must have thought of Himself as Thomas' God, while acknowledging that there was a God greater than Himself, the Father.

Hence Jesus didn't teach one God, He taught one supreme God while admitting that He also is a God.

  • lol oh my word...lol Is this LDS logic and biblical interpretation?

  • (1) lol, oh you don't know the word of God?... Go read it. It is actually IN the Bible and plain as day.

Do you DENY that Jesus said the Father is GREATER than Himself? Do you DENY that Jesus said that the Father is HIS God? Do you deny that Jesus said that He is the God of Abraham and that Abraham saw His day?

John 20:17 I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] MY GOD, and your God.

John 14:28 ...for my Father is greater than I

  • Ed........ Gideon will deny *ANYTHING* we teach, so don't let it surprise you. I notice he, of course, and for very dang good reason refuses to give us the *proper* exegesis and interpretation of scripture. He is all about pretend and make believe. He knows nothing about the Bible, and I have called him on MANY things he says. He is of the opinion that all he has to do is state something and the world must believe that is the truth of the Bible. Convenient, but totally muddle headed.

  • I do have to say I like your vids I lean a lot of what your chruch really teach so I have to thank you for that :) I am injoying reading the bom.

  • Yeah so? who ever denied the order of the Godhead? Co-Equal in essense with offices that are distinct

Heb 1:3 "..express image of his person"

in Greek apougasma ho doxa kai charakter ho hupostasis"

Whne will LDS folks learn to properly keep things in context and get into the original languages to get to the bottom of the issue? instead "I testify"...

  • Yet the Son is not the Father. Each have their own separate person and essence. They are two Gods, or "powers" as some early Jewish groupd believed, following Segal's analysis about the Two Powers in Heaven. We are not misusing the Greek, we simply are not adding the Greek philosophy onto the scripture as you incorrectly do.

  • (2) Jhn 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad.

Jhn 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

Jhn 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Jhn 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him...

  • yeah ok how does this "prove" polytheism? how does this prove the LDS version of who G-d is? this is the best you can come up with?

Go back to your Greek classes you should know better this is Greek 101.

  • It is not straining at gnats at all, but coming to and understanding of the total context of ancient Israelite theology. It's the Ancient Near East worldview. Heiser, Mullin, Cross, Smith, Morgenstern, Kingsbury, Albright.... they ALL have shown this.

  • I Love Your Videos BYP! You're so smart man! To tell you the truth you're the reason I've decided to go to college! I figured if I want to have not just spiritual knowledge but knowledge with everything I need to go to college! Anyways BYP keep up the videos I love your videos keep them up!

  • That's GREAT! I am proud of you. It was the influence of Hugh Nibley, Daniel C. Peterson, John Gee, William Hamblin, Matt Roper, Jim Faulconer, Davis Bitton, John W. Welch, Leonard Arington, Louis Midgley, Blake Lstler, Paul Hoskisson, Royal Skousen, Stephen D. Ricks, S. Kent Brown, Brian M. Hauglid, John Tvedtnes, and numerous others I can't mention which has caused me to serously explore the scriptures. I have never regretted a moment of it, not one moment.

  • Awesome :) I don't think you come across as arrogant, all that's probably about not agreeing with your info, lol :P I'm glad you're well!

  • Thank you. I am well, and ready to pound out more vids. I can understand disagreeing with my views, no problem there. And I suppose I do come across a little cocky sometimes. But hey, when there is a good challenge, I justta gotta deliver it! LOL!

  • People will do that, oh well, lol.

  • "if you are reading the Bible in translation, you are not getting it"

I can read it in latin, does that count?

  • The problem with that is, you are still a language removed from the Hebrew. Even the LXX in Greek is a language removed from Hebrew. Don't get me wrong though, the Vulgate is still seriously important on many topics of Textual Criticism!

  • "The problem with that is, you are still a language removed from the Hebrew"

    yeah, I know.

but do we know for sure that the original Bible was in Hebrew and that the greek and the latin are translations from the Hebrew?

  • The earliest parts of the Bible were in Hebrew. Latin came later with the rise of the Christian church and I believe it was Jerome who started the kick into Latin. And, well, the Hebrew arises from the Canaanite/Phoenician scripts as well! Ayiyi! The Hebrew is not original, but it is presumed to be the language of revelation to Israel.

  • "The council of the gods are....divine beings"

    interesting!

  • Haa I went to check Heiser out online and I already had the site book marked and didn't know it. The book the Triumph of Elohim, by Elelman is awesome on the topic also. Also Cross's Canaanite Myth and Hebrew Epic!!

  • Oooooo, a book I don't have! Now you are costing me money - LOL! And yes, Cross just rocks! It's mighty fun to find someone else who enjoys Cross and the subjects he writes on.

  • hey that is great One of my best friends is a scout master. Hope your feeling better BYP! This was great I love these topics. Especially on the early tribal league!

  • Yeah scouts is really fun. At first I wasn't sure about it, but now I am really in love with it. And I am feeling better, and that means I am making more vids, so the world is going to just have to suffer - lol....

  • I just went to Mr. Heisers site. It is fantastic! It really answered some questions that I , as an investigator of the Church, have been wondering for a while. Thank you Professor.

  • Well that's just fun! My good pleasure!

  • "I just went to Mr. Heisers site"

    could you PM that site?

  • Whaddya mean pm his site? Sorry I am so dense.

  • "Whaddya mean pm his site?"

    PM--> Private Message

since youtube doesn't allow websites to be posted in the comment section.

I think dense is the last thing I would call you! =)

  • just Google:

    "michaelsheiser"

  • "just Google:

    "michaelsheiser" "

I agree that would have been an effective way. Nevertheless, the most effective way was for me to receive the EXACT webpage in my PM box.

  • This guy Heiser believes some pretty wacky stuff. He believes that some consultation with the dead isn't "satanic". First of all, a spirit personage "Satan the Devil" wasn't even a concept in Israelite thought in Samuel's day.

Consulting the dead, no matter who it is, is PROHIBITED to Israelites in the Torah...PERIOD.

Saul's Kingship goes downhill from there. Why wasn't he punished by man? The context makes it clear. HE was the one enforcing that law! He practiced hypocrisy, disguised.

  • Sauls downhill started long before consulting the witch, it started when he sacrificed without samuel, and when he wanted to save some of the cattle, or what about his attempt to kill david because of his jealosy?
