This song is the BEST song to wake up to. I have used it for years on my alarm clock and it is amazing the way the song builds. You don't wake up all in shock, but instead it draws you up and you bounce out of bed.
@TheAnthonybozza, Sound is AMAZING in this Video,, I Guarantee the Soundman is TOP Notch, the Band usually gets louder as the night goes on and the excitement builds!,,, the Mix Changes and Soundguys are Working HARD to make sure everyone is happy, 1st and foremost the Talent on Stage...I'll bet Danny soundchecked and Said Good Go With it...and It was fixed later...(this is Why In Ear Monitors were Invented!)..
@PizzaInChicago This was shot in 1985 and at the time, musicians didn't use ear monitors. He's closing his ear so he can hear his own voice better while he sings. You'll notice he's doing it more when the song gets in the higher notes; he's making sure he's in tune with the song.
@darklove678 yea....he is just sexy all the time...Have you seen the music video to this song...where is wearing that hat and he has that yummy look....I love him in that video ...he looks hot up there as well lol
@Despina838 Interesting. I didn't know WH was the original name, I thought it was The Ritz. But as far as the location, was it at 125 East 11th Street just like it is right now? I know there was a Ritz in midtown-west for a few years (West 54 Street I think).
really very cool

This is before the days of in-ear monitors... Danny may have had to plug his ear to hear if he was on key.

What an amazing performance!!
I noticed that Danny was holding his ear a lot in this performance...wonder if this was the beginning of his hearing loss :(

I think it's for tuning.
He's singing pretty high for some of it, so I suppose he wanted to make sure he was in tune,
(I do this in choir all the time)
