Both are great singers! Alexandra has such control over the low notes! Leona and Alexandra are both great belters! Leona just has the flexibility to sustain them longer.
@ThePianoguy89 Leona can sustain those notes longer than Alexandra just because her voice is naturally placed higher, it's not a matter of skill. Anything above E5, her notes are way too squeezed and forced, her placement gets so unstable. Very little resonance indeed.
@Stefano94x Leona does tend to squeeze past E5 and to a point when it becomes very shrill. Alexandra has a beautifully unique and sultry tone. Her belts are far more resonant.

You cannot really compare them because they have such different voices, Alexandra has a much soulful and deep voice when Leona probably struggles with the lower notes but can hit the higher ones with no question about it.

Belting - Overall it's Alexandra, but not by too much. It's Leona is squeezing too much....but she has good presence there. Alexandra has more control and can do more things.

Both amazing! Leona's range is wider and her tone is sweet yet powerful and she sort of hypnotises you with her voice. Alexandra's voice is husky, powerful and full of warmth and she puts on an amazing performance. Both should be so proud of themselves.
Leona is a bit boring. Leona has the slight edge in voice, but she and her producers do too many sleepy songs. Alexandra does more uptempo, dance tunes, rhythmic, and exciting stuff. It would be nice if Leona's producers, writers, and herself try to be more relevant or hip. Leona has the vocal edge, Alexandra had less training and is more of a natural raw talent. So as time goes by, I expect Alexandra's voice quality increase a bit more, as she hits her peak.
In my opinion, Leona has a better voice, but, as we say in Spain, Alex has got an angel, she´s a true artist! I prefer to watch Alex than Leona on stage! Leona sometimes is boring, Alex never is!

I preferred Leona's E3 better. Both their F3's we're ok. I love the tone on Leona's low notes better thou. Alex takes C5, C#5, D5 Leona, Eb5 both, E5 both, but more so Alex, Leona F5, F#5 both. Bb5 Leona, Alex's was nice thou. Fave, idk. Kinda Leona. But, Alex is a bad ass performer & singer.

They are both unquestionably great singers, and at the end it's more a battle whose type of vocals you like more, rather than discussing which one is better singer.
Alex has a good lower register. Alex can belt but Leona's tone makes her belting more "special"? Head voice hands down goes to Leona. She is probably one of the best with regards to head voice.

Well I must say, Leona's F5 was awful.
I prefer Alex's voice because of the raw power and soul. But that doesn't detract from the fact that Leona is a great singer.
I would also prefer to see Alex live than Leona.

leonas mum was a ballet teacher and her dad was a youth worker...so im sure alex had much more help with singing than leona lewis.

Where are leona's G5s and recent live G#5s that Alex is yet to hit in chest, plus the higher falsetto notes from Leona you stopped at F#5 then Bb5 cos that's where Alex stops, not a fair comparison if you ask me!

in terms of this vid, low notes= alexandra, but since x factor leonas low notes av vastly inproved, all other leona, especially the high 1s leona just hammers alex on these cs tht Bb5 it was effortless 4 leona, weras alex had to push it out, u could tell with the tensing of the face haha

How can you evan compare these artists!!! Alexsandra is really good and its nice to see another great singer win the x facter. Leona though is the winner because she is the only female singer in the world that is compared with the great Mariah Carey. Leona can hit those high notes that Alexsandra cant evan hit. Evan leonas head voice, folceto is better. Leona should never be compared to!!

love them both, but Leona has a better voice, especially wen it comes to ballads she has more of a chance of bieng categorized as a belting diva with Whitney, Celine and Mariah. Leona is not boring! shes a lovely girl, wen u have a voice like that who cares bout personality anyways :)

Lower Register - Alexandra
Belting - Overall it's Alexandra, but not by too much. It's Leona is squeezing too much....but she has good presence there. Alexandra has more control and can do more things.
Head voice - Leona

@KyoHanjin thats hilarious, okok the vid showed the notes in 3rd octave went to alex no questionm, but that is where alex is meant to shine...and she doesnt. the chest was leona i mean c'mon she sustains the notes for a bout 3 times as long as alex and they are clearer. leonas head voice far out reaches alex's i mean she can go anothe octave above wat alex just did. can we see alex do a whistle...no, leona can bang em out like beckhams crosses

Both amazing! Leona's range is wider and her tone is sweet yet powerful and she sort of hypnotises you with her voice. Alexandra's voice is husky, powerful and full of warmth and she puts on an amazing performance. Both should be so proud of themselves.

Leona is a bit boring. Leona has the slight edge in voice, but she and her producers do too many sleepy songs. Alexandra does more uptempo, dance tunes, rhythmic, and exciting stuff. It would be nice if Leona's producers, writers, and herself try to be more relevant or hip. Leona has the vocal edge, Alexandra had less training and is more of a natural raw talent. So as time goes by, I expect Alexandra's voice quality increase a bit more, as she hits her peak.

In my opinion, Leona has a better voice, but, as we say in Spain, Alex has got an angel, she´s a true artist! I prefer to watch Alex than Leona on stage! Leona sometimes is boring, Alex never is!

Leona Won this! Leona's Low notes/ Belting/ head voice/whistle sounded better. And also I never knew who Alexandra Burke was before this video lol. But hearing Alexandra Burke voice, I still think Leona rocked more.

@LoboAscuridad Falsetto is the male equivalent of head voice, girls dont have a falsetto voice, falsetto is the term used for a man when he sings high and breathy like girls do in head voice :P

@LoboAscuridad Everyone has different voices, some girls head voices are more strong than others like in this video leona lewis's sounds stronger than alex's, but your not listening to me......the word "falsetto" is used for MALE singers only, the correct word for girl singers is Head voice. Basically Falsetto is the male equivalent of head voice, hope this helps you to understand more :)

@EbieApple I have msn, do you have hotmail/yahoo? My vocal range is unstable coz my voice is kinda at the changing stage it's quite low but getting lower lol :) It's about a crazy 6 octaves lol = D2-C8 but i can do Eb2-F6 without effort :p

I preferred Leona's E3 better. Both their F3's we're ok. I love the tone on Leona's low notes better thou. Alex takes C5, C#5, D5 Leona, Eb5 both, E5 both, but more so Alex, Leona F5, F#5 both. Bb5 Leona, Alex's was nice thou. Fave, idk. Kinda Leona. But, Alex is a bad ass performer & singer.

I know nothing about notes, but nice vid.
They are both unquestionably great singers, and at the end it's more a battle whose type of vocals you like more, rather than discussing which one is better singer.
I'm proud to say I love them both.

Alex has a good lower register. Alex can belt but Leona's tone makes her belting more "special"? Head voice hands down goes to Leona. She is probably one of the best with regards to head voice.
