Yes there is corruption still in the country and even with poeple in her government but it is true with all governments including 1st world countries like the US and UK! Liberia cannot change in a blink of an eye. It took 2 decades for Liberia to be destroyed, it may take twice as long for it to return to it's former glory. Wow...comments here are ridiculous. Throughout history (including Liberia) Civil Wars have contributed nothing to society. Its never a proper solution. War is terrible, and war from the inside is just poisonous and self-destructive. From what I gather, Sirleaf has eliminated Liberia's entire foreign debt and opened up commerce for natural production in just 4 years after the heels of a Civil War. Thats damn impressive.

@jpusar Change is slow. It takes time, and especially in the state of most African countries. Recent revolts in Libya and Egypt won't help much in matters of trade. I don't think there's a single person (at least I hope) in this planet that does not want to see a industrialized Africa. Especially Liberia (HUGE respect as an American). When I look at Wikipedia for noticeable African people, I want to see Scientists. Mathematicians. Scholars. Not Footballers or (sadly) sadistic leaders.

@juliusloiusweeks I'm quite aware of her background. The circumstances in which she grew up qualifies her as an Americo-Liberian. They have been overbearing since they arrived in the early 1800's. We've (native Liberians) considered them to be ours, but most of them (with their outlandish names which they don't intend to change) look at us differently. They consider the US their second home and could care less about the future of Liberia. Excepting Tolbert, what did all of them do?!! Nothing!!!!

Ellen is a destroyer and not a unifier. She orders  the murders of pregnant women, senior citizens and many many Liberian children.
