  • 1st time I ever heard this song, I was in Tampa, Fl and had this great easy listening radio station on radio. The song was sung by Louis Armstrong-great also. Willie's style touches me like he knows hard work as most all of us do that were not born with a silver spoon in our mouth....thanks for sharing and posting.

  • Willie, you are a classic. A voice that's so beautiful. You can come sing to me any day....Thanks for posting

  • This is the most beautiful version, IMHO. Many thanks for posting. xo

  • Willie has got the beautiful velvet throat and his unique style of his wonderful guitar genius.

Muriel xxx Thanks for posting davidt888

  • I have always loved Bluegrass music but I've never really ever been a fan of country music...except for the music of Willie Nelson! While I guess he is officially categorized as a "Country Music" singer, I find that he often pushes the limits of that label and I really love that! He is also socially conscious and seems to care for the working people in the US, especially farmers and the like. You rock Willie, I hope to see you live some day amigo.

  • @mythgar by categorizing Willie as a Country Music singer, you are doing him a disservice. I do not listen to country music, and for that reason was reluctant to listen to his music until I came across a video of him singing "Funny How Time Slips Away" and the above "The Lucky Old Sun" and I was hooked. He is also a master with the guitar and all around performer.

  • @joeluis98 If you read my comment a little closer I think you'll find you and I are pretty much saying the same thing and he is categorized by radio stations, itunes etc. as a country music singer by the way...but again, I think that label is inaccurate because he clearly performs music not of that genre.

  • Willie is a legend...thanks for posting!

  • my grandpas song. :(

  • my dads song ..miss him to bits

  • @canthill3 Good man!

  • I used to sing this to my horse. He was a firey sort and singing to him calmed him down. MY singing? He must have been tone deaf. Another he liked was Don't Fence Me In. Good days...
