i wouldn't know for sure, but i'm just gonna give an educated guess by my experience. the Daisy at 4 pumps is most likely to get between 200-350 feet per second with a BB. the Remington would most likely get around 950 feet per second with the pointed pellet and maybe 800 feet per second with the hollowpoint. the Remington has more than enough power to kill any game under 15 pounds and with certain ammo, just enough to kill you with a shot in the back or mid-torso.
Haha there is no way what ever gun you have will penetrate 12 inches into well made gel, especially if the gun gets below 1000 fps. The Remington in this vid is a 950-1000fps gun, and it, as you can see, only penetrates around 7. Either your gel (or whatever your using to take measurements) is made extremely thin, or that's a big exaggeration.

The first cooling is to actually turn the water with the gel powder dissolved into jello. I'm not sure if it would work if you just heated this water, but I'm guessing it wouldn't. The second cooling process is to turn the melted gel into the ballistics gel substance. Less than two hours in the fridge in the second cooling will yield a softer gel, one that will not give consistant results to this video.
I made my gel by just adding the powder to warm water and stiring it giving it 10 minutes to disolve before heating and allowing it to set overnight. It worked nicely my S&W M3000 (325 feet per second shooting 0.2g bb's) penetrates just under 1 inch. i'm going to make 2 batches when i have some more power to see if the 2 hours wait makes a difference to the consistency of the gel.
Lemon, airsoft guns are not capable of penetrating skin, so you must've made your gel wrong. To penetrate skin at all, let alone almost 1 inch of it, you need 1ft/lb of power; all airsoft guns are under 1ft/lb of power.
Agreed. I've been shot alot by airsoft BBs, they hurt like hell but doesn't penetrate skin, not even from a few feet away. They leave marks much like small paintball bruises ;P

the wadcutter or flatheaded one is for target shooting. its made to be accurate and punch nice holes through the paper. its not used for hunting and they are very inaccurate with my gamo big cat

u can easely make it yourself, just put 1 part of gelatine on 10 parts of water, then mix it(be carefull, dont get bubbles). then put it in the refrigarator for 12 hour, and voilá!

happy with it i bought it in a little nicer quality with some checkered grips and it coasted about 200 dollars and it worth the money and it came with some nice pellets and a pellet case good deal highly recommend it.

I think there about 170 dollars, thats what they cost at the Gander Mountain here in Wisconsin maybe less online. I have a Crosman break barrel pellet rifle which is similar to the Genesis.
My dog won't eat this stuff, and that's saying something. I've also left a small batch out for about 3 weeks, and it was rained on over and over, and it was still in one piece. So I guess it's technially edible, but it's so tough that its just nasty. It has no flavor either, because it was made from pure gelatine, unlike the popular JELLO brand.
I love it, good science. Just fyi, the hollow point is so devastating due to what is known as hydrostatic shock. All animals (much like humans, and ballistics gel) are made mostly of water. the hollow point doesn't penetrate as deep because it transfers energy faster. It creates this ultra sonic shock wave through a body sometimes causing more damage than the bullet itself causes. In center fire hand guns, hydrostatic shock can actually rupture organs in humans! Very cool video. I loved it
The genesis 1000 would shoot a crossman premier at around 850-900 ft/s. And a scientific study i found suggests that penetration increases linearly with velocity. if youre gel just came out of the fridge and you have EXACTLY 10% gel, this means my gun has 4/6 the velocity of a genessis,around 600ft/s max. pretty good, cuz that what i estimated and they wrote 490 ft/s on the box. I have a beeman 1041 which is a rebadged beeman gh650.
Thanks for the info, always interesting to see the physics behind these kind of things. I'm always tempted to put that kind of information in my videos. But please don't think I'm saying this is perfect gel. Real stuff varies in consistancy depending on what their testing. Might want to base your fps on a chronograph, not my gel. Sorry, I should have put this in the description. It was twenty yards, and the reason it looks like I'm shooting inside is because I'm shooting from my driveway into the garage (I had backstops and such to make sure there was no harm to anything by accident.) It was raining out, so I didn't want to get the gel, or more importantly my camera, wet.

What is the importance of cooling it for two hours prior to heating?
Would it still work if you skipped that stage and heated it right after you've added the gel powder?

The first cooling is to actually turn the water with the gel powder dissolved into jello. I'm not sure if it would work if you just heated this water, but I'm guessing it wouldn't. The second cooling process is to turn the melted gel into the ballistics gel substance. Less than two hours in the fridge in the second cooling will yield a softer gel, one that will not give consistant results to this video.

I made my gel by just adding the powder to warm water and stiring it giving it 10 minutes to disolve before heating and allowing it to set overnight. It worked nicely my S&W M3000 (325 feet per second shooting 0.2g bb's) penetrates just under 1 inch. i'm going to make 2 batches when i have some more power to see if the 2 hours wait makes a difference to the consistency of the gel.

Lemon, airsoft guns are not capable of penetrating skin, so you must've made your gel wrong. To penetrate skin at all, let alone almost 1 inch of it, you need 1ft/lb of power; all airsoft guns are under 1ft/lb of power.

Agreed. I've been shot alot by airsoft BBs, they hurt like hell but doesn't penetrate skin, not even from a few feet away. They leave marks much like small paintball bruises ;P

Pardon? I'm referring to lemon's post above where he mentions his gun shooting .2g plastic ball-bearings at 325 FPS. If you're trying to tell me that BB guns shoot .2 gram plastic balls at only 325 FPS, then you're sorely mistaken.

the wadcutter or flatheaded one is for target shooting. its made to be accurate and punch nice holes through the paper. its not used for hunting and they are very inaccurate with my gamo big cat

u can easely make it yourself, just put 1 part of gelatine on 10 parts of water, then mix it(be carefull, dont get bubbles). then put it in the refrigarator for 12 hour, and voilá!

i just bought the Gamo hunter. great gun very power full but no sights just a scope i am very
happy with it i bought it in a little nicer quality with some checkered grips and it coasted about 200 dollars and it worth the money and it came with some nice pellets and a pellet case good deal highly recommend it.

I think there about 170 dollars, thats what they cost at the Gander Mountain here in Wisconsin maybe less online. I have a Crosman break barrel pellet rifle which is similar to the Genesis.

My dog won't eat this stuff, and that's saying something. I've also left a small batch out for about 3 weeks, and it was rained on over and over, and it was still in one piece. So I guess it's technially edible, but it's so tough that its just nasty. It has no flavor either, because it was made from pure gelatine, unlike the popular JELLO brand.

I love it, good science. Just fyi, the hollow point is so devastating due to what is known as hydrostatic shock. All animals (much like humans, and ballistics gel) are made mostly of water. the hollow point doesn't penetrate as deep because it transfers energy faster. It creates this ultra sonic shock wave through a body sometimes causing more damage than the bullet itself causes. In center fire hand guns, hydrostatic shock can actually rupture organs in humans! Very cool video. I loved it

The genesis 1000 would shoot a crossman premier at around 850-900 ft/s. And a scientific study i found suggests that penetration increases linearly with velocity. if youre gel just came out of the fridge and you have EXACTLY 10% gel, this means my gun has 4/6 the velocity of a genessis,around 600ft/s max. pretty good, cuz that what i estimated and they wrote 490 ft/s on the box. I have a beeman 1041 which is a rebadged beeman gh650.

Thanks for the info, always interesting to see the physics behind these kind of things. I'm always tempted to put that kind of information in my videos. But please don't think I'm saying this is perfect gel. Real stuff varies in consistancy depending on what their testing. Might want to base your fps on a chronograph, not my gel. Sorry, I should have put this in the description. It was twenty yards, and the reason it looks like I'm shooting inside is because I'm shooting from my driveway into the garage (I had backstops and such to make sure there was no harm to anything by accident.) It was raining out, so I didn't want to get the gel, or more importantly my camera, wet.

Good video! Precharge airguns are still my preference but hope to get a springer soon. If the following is not new to you, please forgive me:
Make sure your scope is airgun rated...springers have two types of recoil and even scopes running a couple of hundred can easily be destroyed if mounted on springers.
