I have never really had luck with Vets. They seem like they love to take your money without fixing the problem. Usually the cure is common sense.

Time usually heals all wounds so just do not make him use it for a year and see if that works.

Go to a farm supply and buy a 100 gal water trough for $79 that you can put your pup into so he tread water for exercise. Cheaper than a Vet.
