Trains in Eastern Europe aren't even as advanced and nice as ours were in the 50s. Sure wish we still had a train system here. It would cut down on a lot of the foreign oil we have to import if people would use it.

57 years after Bobby Watson, we travelled (by other means of transport) from Amsterdam to Lamy and stayed there for three weeks. After this experience we can say that the place where uncle Ray used to have his ranch, nowadays still is a magical place and a wonderful destination for those who want to meet America at its best (and the train whistle still sounds like it used to sound in the American westerns we saw in Europe).

This vid is a testament to what America use to be. Yes, there were problems with racism and corporate greed, but overall a much cleaner and safer place. If Eisenhower (and GM, Firestone, ) had not pushed so hard for the "Federal Highway Bill" (interstate system) we'd likely have a far better balanced transportation system than the nightmare congestion roadways today.

i love this because my grandmother and i use to ride the Santa Fe in it's last days. the "Texas Chief" to Oklahoma City.
