  • yamato didn't really perform. they expected too much of this obsolete weapon system (battle ships), in the end she was sunk by a few american airplanes which weren't even 1/4 her weight in metal and not nearly 1/6 the cost to build. aircraft carriers were much more effective weapons.

if you want to know about brave ships & sailors, look into taffy 3, USS Johnston (DD-557) & USS Samuel B. Roberts (DE-413). they fought against the yamato & the ijn center fleet. yamato was forced to turn back

  • What's the name of the song or/and where is it from?

  • ITT, a shitload of weeaboos

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Played battlestation pacific yesterday and in Okinawa mission i had duel against Yamato whit my Iowa battleship... i lost 2 cruises and Iowa almost blowed up.. thanks to my landing ship Yamato stopped and wasen't able to to move so i flanked and bombed every singel shit on Yamato.. That was one hell of a battle

  • You praising a ship that hardly saw any action until the last months of the war! Did not shell any Americans, Did not sank any ships! Our bombers in less then two hours of battle sunk Yamato! It took 12 bomb and seven torpedo hits to sank it!

  • @11B30Inf 12 bombs and 7 torpedoes? that was yahagi sir :D yamato took at least 11 torpedoes and 8 bombs but those torpedoes all hit the port sides

  • No Soldiers in any war should be forgotten so to forget is a disgrace.

  • 日本馬鹿にスンナ。JAMATOって何だ?邪魔だったからJAMATOか?邪魔じゃねーよ!邪魔になってねーよ!なんなんだよいったい!

  • The men of the IJN Yamato and IJN Mussahi were honorable warriors RIP

  • JAMATOじゃねえ YAMATOだ日本を馬鹿にしてんのか?

  • is the spirit of yamato. the Yamato must sail again...

  • Jamato-hehehehe JAMA means "to impede" or Hey you are JAMA! get out of the way..

  • Yamato is the old name of Japan...It's like that the entire soul of Japan as a nation during WWII is embodied in the Yamato

  • @partida101 Or also a warrior

  • WW2, the most terrible, epic and badass war EVER!!

  • the picture at 0:47 is the crew of IJN Nagato

  • YAMATO LIVE FOREVER!!!

  • das stärkste schlachtschiffe des zweiten weltkriegs stärker als alle europäischen und amerikanischen

  • Respect!

  • @ 0:46, is it me or is the bridge architecture based on traditional Japanese buildings? With the way the corners "Swoop" up ( to ward off demons?) seem very similiar to buddhist temples.

RIP Yamato. Though I'm american, all hands lost to sea deserve respect.

  • Dude.. Its Yamato Not Jamato

  • 海外の方から見た日本は、ずいぶんと綺麗ですね。。

  • the YAMATO was the lagest ship ever made, larger then Bismark and even more deadly with 4 tri mount 18 inch guns, the pride of the japanese empier R.I.P.

  • @sachaandsox "the YAMATO was the lagest ship ever made"

    Yamato

    Length: 840 Feet

    Displacement: 65,000 tons

    USS Enterprise CVN-56

    Length: 1,123 Feet

    Displacement: 93,000 tons

The Yamato has long since been dwarfed in size. Even cruise ships these days are bigger

  • @AcomsRazor1776 the yamato was among the largest ships ever made during ww2: 72800t fully loaded vs queen mary and queen elisabeth at around 83000t. however, It IS the biggest battleship ever, and it's sistership, the Shinano was the largest aircraft carrier during the war. :-)

  • Dude, are you retard? Yamato was the BIGGES BATTLEship, not ship. Dude, before talking, check.

  • @spanish111japan Yo Retard. Why don't you check the context of the fucking post before you start calling people a retard.

  • Dude, we know you retard, now go play back with your dog.

  • @AcomsRazor1776

but no other ship in history had 18.1 inch guns mounted...eternal glory to imperial japanese navy!

  • Largest BATTLESHIP, Not ship dude!

  • Respect to the Japanes..

  • hommage à tous les marins du cuirassé yamato

à tous c'est hommes morts pour la folie des hommes le cuirassé yamato ete le plus grand et le plus puissament armées

  • Sunk !

  • R.I.P.

  • 大和は全ての日本人の誇りです。戦艦大和は不滅なり。

Yamato is proud of all Japanese. Battleship of YAMATO is immortal.

    Thank you this video.

  • 三国志っぽい奴が混じってるぞ

    それはメイドインチャイナだ

  • @Theacorda the battle who sunk yamato and rocket warfare make obsolete the use of a battleship.Battleship "spirit" is survived in aircraft carriers.See it like Samurais(or other melee unit of medieval times) against rifleman.

  • lol jamato

  • Honour to Japan

  • it says jamato lol

    it's Yamato : )

  • ....AWESOMW...!!!!!!!!...:D

  • these people are gods

fuck you for calling them criminals because all of them have families asshole

  • hey whats up with the pictures in the beginingh had nothing to do with yamato or "jamato"

  • @Starspalace

Japanese soldiers and sailors believed that they were samurai (and in a way they were), or in the very least wanted to honor their samurai ancestors, and would make ceremonial rights to the samurai, either to honor them or become samurai themselves.

So the creator of the video was probably playing off of that, by showing samurai and then ww2 Japanese soldiers and sailors, as if they are the next generation of samurai

  • @Starspalace Yamato is the old name of Japan.

  • @Starspalac it's a tribute to the warriors during the HEIAN period...BUSHIDO HARAKIRI and is a suicide code to fulfill their honor to the emperor. that's excatly what a lot of the japanese troops did in the pacific rather than be captured alive. the japanese air force pilots went to thei deaths that way. tora tora or divine wind

  • @Starspalace read operation "iceberg" or the battle of okinawa. boy that was bloody. for the japanese troops in the ryukyu island...tha was the death sentence. to die fighting. BANZAIII !!!!!

  • @Starspalace lol prolly cuz it shows that they were warriors that weren' gonna give up lol...jaja...and ik i also notice that rght away....jamato lol.....

  • @Starspalace

I believe the idea was to show Japanese samurai tradition of honor.

  • @Starspalace

Read somewhere it was referred to as "the Samurai of the sea". Could be BS, I read it a long time ago.

  • @Starspalace Yamato was a prince of the ancient Japan, that's the why of those pictures, the thing that gave the name to it, Yamato. Such as the Musashi was given the name of a famous warrior

  • @spanish111japan

Musashi was named after the ancient province, not the Samurai Musashi.

  • @Exilninja Hmm thanks for the correction

  • @Starspalace pls inform yourself about japan culture ;)

  • @Starspalace They had everything to do with it. Do the public a favor and Google 'Yamato' before further enlighting us to your stupidity.

  • ... even if its radar fire control system for its mainguns was not that good the Yamato still had spotter planes for exact range finding and bearing and that would spell death for any direct BB confrontation with this ship!

  • And how well did that work for them in the one battle surface action she was in? Yamato against an Iowa class, hands down one of the Iowa classes would have put her under,

  • @grousekiller

The Iowa's guns would have had a very hard time penetrating the armor on the Yamato. The Yamato's guns are significantly higher caliber, and its armor can deflect that caliber. If it ever scored a hit on an Iowa, it would be catastrophic--the Iowa's armor can be compromised by its own guns.

Hell, I love the Iowa as a ship, and with its superior gun-laying radar, it probably would score more hits on the Yamato, but it would take a very long time to sink it.

  • they did a study years back that the yamatos 18.1 inch shell fired at max range the spaceing would be around 2 miles off the iowa radar fired 16.1 would be 10 feet

  • Guys who cares how long the Yamato and the Bismarck were cause both nations were allies as Nazi-germany and Japan were with the italians the "axis of evil".

However i I would measure in pure firepower and armour the Yamato is a super battleship while the Bismarck would be rather classified as a battleship cause the Yamato simply had more firepower and armour and if ever they would have confronted each other in a direct fight the Bismarck would have had a very hard time ...

  • this is really pathetic.

Japan was still defeated, even they had such a giantic warmachine. Because Japan doesn't have enough resources to be supplied with their army.

  • The Largest battleships ever made were all made by japan. the guns were the biggest, no country before or since has made a battleship of that scale.

The Yamato was beautiful, it's history flawless to the very end. It's end was one fitting for any battleship that size. Even as it rolled over, the guns were still blazing, as none of the crew left their posts...

Japan was the last country ever to fight the United States as true equals...

  • Well, Germany, too.

Just Japan was the one that really gave the USA hell.

Germany was crushed by Russia, mostly.

  • It was a joint effort. The final blow was done by Russia. The Russians from the East, the Americans and everyone else from the west.

Although, to be fair, the Russians lost more soldiers then everyone else COMBINED. some 20 million if I'm not mistaken. The Russians got real good by the end of the war, but to be fair, the Americans reached Berlin first. we let Russia enter it because we were polite. Although, with all the raped women I think that was a mistake...

  • @Inmango

even if late it is my opinion that japan is still the most powerfull nation.

what do we hear exept from the desaster in fukushima? nearly nothing their tech was state of the art back then what if they already have plans to equip an BB with the new systems the missoury got with her upgrades from the begining? its like Stargate the prometheus got upgradet but the BC304 was build with it imagine an super yamato with new systems. i would say no navy in the world could stop her

  • why do they send a ship like this ?

    it was kamikaze

  • Only one they had left?

  • i know it had to be sunk, but damn it was a beautiful ship =(

  • Would have been much better to send Yamato to Southern Kyushu for anticipation of future invasion instead of Okinawa, which was already cut off by air and sea.

  • Well.... it did get the intended effect. The US ultimately didn't invade Japan. (though, history shows it is unlikely, as Japan also was starting to shake from the inside, and the US nukes, combined with a massive Russian invasion, pushed Japan over the edge.)

But the overwhelming casualties of invading forces did have it's impact.

  • Glory for brave warriors from "Yamato"

  • the honor of the soldiers on the yamato will never be forgotten

    R.I.P.

  • @thaMBD2Ms ..,actually those that served on the Yamato were probably sailors from the IJN (navy) and Japans navy & army at that time really did not like each other. Besides a lot of backstabbing between both services they secretly plotted against each other to the point of undermining strategy at the cost of military & political gain.

  • Yamato class battleships were nearly twice as big as the other nation's biggest battleships but they remained mostly secret even to the average Japanese when they existed, known only as the "Superbattleship One and Two" during the war.

  • Totally wrong!

    Yamato

    Length: 263 meters

    Bismarck

    Length: 251 meters

As you can see, it was only 12 meters longer.

  • I didn't say long, I said big. Iowa class was even longer than the Yamato yet it weighed nearly 25,000 ton less.

  • 大日本帝國!!!萬歲!!!

  • Lol. Battleship Yamato sank because it was attacked on its way to aid the Soldiers on Okinawa. They were flanked by 3000 planes? I do not know the name.

  • the Yamato was sunk during operation Ten Go which was a suicide mission to Okinawa She was met by aircraft of Task Force 58 shortly after noon on April 7th. Attacked in waves, and it was a total of 386 US naval bombers and fighters. At the end of the battle the US lost 12 Fighters and the Japanese lost 4 Destroyers 1 Cruiser and of course the Yamato.

  • most of the heavy artellery of the yamato was looking foreward and the yamato was not as maneuverable as the bismarck so the bismark could fire all her heavy artellery and drive along the yamato so she couldnd use all of her heavy artellery. thats why speed is more important then 10 meter more or one canon more.

  • Yamato has 6 barrels forward and 3 aft for her main battery. Bismarck has 4 and 4. Both ships could only fire all their guns at targets off to the side, so Im not seeing your point.

The reason why Bismarck looses out is that she has a lot of trouble getting through Yamatos much thicker armour at any range, where as Yamato with her heavier can pretty much penetrate Bismarck with impunity.

Bismarck was 3 knots faster, but she was not more manueverable.

  • ever heard of something like 'angular rate'

Yamato didn't need to be as fast as the Bismarck, since she just turned her rudder 4 degrees and still had all of her 9 18 inch guns pointed on a fast vessel.

at 20 miles distance a 4 degrees turn is something like (to lazy to calculate it) 2 or 3 miles - oh mh ;( that's a lot of distance

with 30 mph you still need 6 minutes to get there. I doubt that yamato needed as much as 4 minutes to do a WHOLE TURN

so math and thinking is > blahblah

  • Of course, water moves, too.

  • Got anything to qualify this by?

The only 2 advantages I can ascribe to Bismarck are her slightly higher speed and longer cruising range.

  • FFS ITS YAMATO !

  • 'JAMATO' as in 'jama' (邪魔)?

  • yes it was outdatet by the end of the war, but i cant help wonder how it would do against a US battleship 1vs1. I think the Yamato would humiliate all the US battleship in that time in a fight 1vs 1 that is.

  • It really comes down to how the battle happens.

In good, clear daylight conditions I would bet it to come out against any other ship in commission at that time, though the South Dakota and Iowa classes would definately put up a hell of a fight.

In low visibility, rain, nightime, or fog, I wouldnt like the be the Japanese against any of the Allied latewar BBs. Even the older ships refitted with good radar sets become a threat.

  • not Jamato

    itiis YAMATO

YMATO is old japan parat it is nar apref

  • whats the scale of that thing at

    1:35?

  • Jamato lol

  • Just like a samurai sword she was, a deadly outdated weapon running out of time. Love the song you used on the video. 2 thumbs up!!
