I'be just listened to Jay Dee's 'On stilts' and have to say that...he's flipped this very nicely indeed. I think the thing that ranckles with GG fans is that hiphop fans may just credit Dilla entirely, when they should obviously be giving props to the musicians who played the music in the first place.
Madlib also samples the Giant on loads of his tracks, but hey, he's obviously a man of great taste!
@amaru2500 Rap stands for repetitious anoying profanity or retards attempting poetry-rap fucking sucks.you are a caveman and the rest of us have evolved and have realized that gentle giant is the greatest most underated band ever
@gillmalka19682 You're looking at this all wrong; sampling is an art. Crate digging is such a beautiful way of discovering music as I'm sure you know. Dilla probably discovered this track and felt the same way you do when you hear these sounds and wanted to spread the soul he heard in the record. Both Dilla and the Giants are masters
I think this song may have inspired the song that the Satyrs play on bagpipes in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage at the Fracture Hills level. Sounds a lot like it to me.
amazing sample. to be honest im not surprised. its dilla. but as much as this was an amazing sample, the Drums he programmed on this beat were just as amazing and memorable!!!

Gentle Giant are the best band ever! I also like rap music! but only when it was good (in the 80's)
bboysattherave 5 months ago
I think Gentle Giant should be the main focus of these comments! not some dilla guy.

This is Mannheim Steamroller-esque "modernized Baroque" with a few screws loose. Wonderful stuff!

Lol people still think rap isn't a viable art form. Are we in the fuckin 80s? Or have we evolved and learned that rap is fuckin good.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
thumbs up if you think that stealing samples from other artists makes you a thief who thinks he can rap, not an artist.

@cooldogface- by investing a lot of time into digging for samples. if your not making beats your looking for them type of mentality
