  • great point about alphabetizing. ill scratch that from my future displaying ideas. i like your method way better.

  • alright! i see some big love! love that show.

  • oh wow! i would love to have that shelf. i am not doing my dvds justice right now. they're all cramped and hidden away because i have nowhere to display them. id love to alphabetize them and then just go and sit on my couch and admire them for a while. lol.

  • Sorry if I missed it in the video if you said it, but how much was this shelf and where did you get it? I really need to get a new dvd shelf and this looks pretty good.

  • @TheAlexFiles17 It was either 89.99 or 99.99 at Best Buy and I believe they still have them.

  • your the best guys love your finds hope your save after that huge storm

  • Will you be doing a in depth dvd collection video like your bluray collection video's? It would be nice to see what dvd's you have in your collection. Great video. I really like that shelf and plan on buying one soon.

  • I have two shelves for my movies and I keep all of mine alphabetized. And you're right: whenever I get another movie I have to shift all of the rest down and reorganize which is a hassle. Although I'm going to keep them alphabetized since my friends, girlfriend, and I are able to find stuff without me explaining any strange system of organizing.

  • what i forgot to ask u again was this when u look at the box right where it said how much does this shelf hold in dvd and blu ray is it right can this really hold what it said i seen this in the best buy today and it said on the box that it can hold 630 bul rays because if so i will buy it let me know asap thank u and keep up the cool videos dude i watch your channal alot .

  • @joseph10704 I don't know for sure, as I'm using this shelf for DVDs, but I'm sure it can hold that many. Good luck!

  • @TheKrazyJason ok cool thanks buddy if anything i think it will hold all of my blu ray's hell i think it will hold more then 630 we will just have to wait and see right have a good one buddy :)

  • Alphabotising saved me alot of time looking for themovies i wanted to watch

  • Hey buddy, the new shelving is looking really awesome, the dvds look great displayed. At this moment i don't have my dvds in an alphabetical order only because i've ran out of room and am now waiting to move house and finally get my dvd movie room . I've wanted one for years the dream is almost a reality...lol... Fantastic idea for the goonies boxset, i have this edition and have the same problem, awesome idea my friend, This also happens with my ET gift set aswell. not any more!, good job,

  • yea i did the same by alphbitzing my dvds and did not workout because every time i got a new dvd i would have to put and old one on another shelf and put the new one in

  • What's up KJ. I have a question do you own the blu-ray 300 ? If so, is the PQ any good?

  • @horror408 Yes I do, and the PQ is Incredible.

  • I know exactly what you mean with alphabetizing , such a pain to rearrange dvd's when you get a new one, unless you make sure to leave space but eventually it will get filled up, it can become tedious.

I saw Northern Exposure jacket series sets :p

Great idea with the velcro for the Goonies set! Great looking set up friendo!

  • @Absolutesublime1 Thanks, man! I'm a HUGE Northern Exposure fan. I watch all six seasons (well, really just the first five) once a year. Tmi?

  • nice shelf, did u hate the screws that hold the back to the unit, they should of provided finishing nail. my freind has the same unit.

  • Nice set up,I dig it

  • Great shelf unit! I need one, myself. My system is grouped by blu-ray, HD-Dvd, dvd, and TV; within those groups they are alphabetized. Yes, it takes shifting when placing new titles, but to me it's worth it to be able to find things easily. Also, I'm pretty weird in that I actually enjoy shifting all of the titles as if to say, "move over for the new kid." Yeah. Weird. I also slightly pull out titles I have not watched since purchase so when I want to watch something, I can look at those 1st.

  • @TheAceHunter And I usually keep 'blind buys' aside and watch them first before putting them in the collection on the shelves (in case I don't like it and I want to sell/trade it later).

  • @TheAceHunter I do the same thing, I have another shelf where I keep my new pick ups and "to watch" DVDs/Blurays/HDDVDs.

  • amazing great idea on what you did with your Goonies blu ray set. It has pissed me off to no end that they didn't add some kind of magnet so the front sleeve would stay close. Didn't realize there were other dvd/blu ray freaks out there that thought the same thing. I also just about shaaat myself when I saw the back to the future packaging. Looks great till you open it and see a plethora of nightmare before you!!!

Great shelf. Great dvd's....great man. lol.

  • @evolutionsolutionco Thank you! Especially the part about "great man". I'm glad I could help by showing my velcro tab solution (patent pending, of course). Oh man don't get me started on BTTF. I have a solution to that one too, coming soon.

  • Looks great man, I wish I had space for another shelf in my room lol

I do have a very specific order: First they are separated by packaging (keep case, digi-pack, steelbooks, box-sets, TV). Then they are ordered by label (Warner, Universal), while the upper shelf with the keepcases is stuffed with the "independent" labels (e.g. Blue Undeground, Anchor Bay) and the lower shelf with the big major companies. Inside that system they are actually alphabetical then.

  • I would have loved to do a video response, but I don't have a mobile camera, sorry man!

  • @LiveFastDiarrhea Man I bet a video of your set up would be EPIC, as the kids say.

  • awesome collection u got there i was also wondering if u guys are into video games also i found ur channel when u guys did the fallout unboxing it was the very first on youtube i can guarantee u that but havent seen anything about videos games since i was wondering what was your outake on the u guys play them or u guys just into movies

  • @elkornu8 We're both into games, although OJ is into them a bit more than me. We have plans to launch a sister channel to handle different media, including games, so stay tuned!

  • Cool! Thats very similar to how mine is organized!

  • Wow, I just got a new shelving unit. Weird... As far as organizing goes, I could never even wrap my head around alphabetizing. Tried by director for a while, and now it's sort of a director/genre/studio thing. It's madness, but I can find things quickly, so I guess there's a method too.

  • @thecollector1138 As long as it works for you, it's good.

  • That is one nice looking shelf. Q: Do you have some sort of Music collection? That would be cool to see given your taste in movies.

  • @TheBSKILL You know, now that you mention it, I do have a pretty cool cd collection. I think I will throw some in there after all.

  • what size is the height and width of the shelf? i want to make a DVD shelf for myself

  • @TheDVDBastardo 40in. L x 9.02in. W x 71.15in. H. Good luck!

  • I have the genres in alphabetical order: Action/Adventure, Anime, Comedy, Drama, Family, Foreign, Horror, Sci-Fi, and TV, and all the titles in each genre alphabetized as well; this is only for DVD.

Steelbooks are off to the side on their own, and Blu-rays are on a separate shelf alphabetized; no genres there. I'd like to get some smaller shelves to put together things like all of my Anchor Bay movies, etc.

    Am I insane?

  • @beatenanddismembered No, not insane. It sounds like the ideal system, just alot of work. :-)

  • I'm OCD so I have to alphabetize or it bothers me. I totally get what you're saying about the problem with it though. Good thing I only have about 150 dvds and 40 blus, but that will soon change!

  • I alphabetize my collection and I understand the frustration of rearranging the entire collection, but I do like it alphabetized so I just waited until I get 50-70 titles before I add them in my shelves. That way it seems worth it. Or is worth it, to me.

  • Looks cool man. I like the top shelf idea... I saw some awesome movies in there.

  • @CJMolinaTube Thanks!!

  • i have the same shelf:) my only shelf but its still good

  • I used to alphabetize too and it's the worst way to arrange dvd's and blu-ray's for the reason you mentioned in the video. I just arrage by genre and I still have similar issues. I would arrange by director's but that might get really complicated. I haven't settled on an arrangement that really works yet.

  • iv been eyeballing that same unit

  • @josephga It's a good deal for what you get.

  • looks good. i built my shelves in to the wall when i bought my house. Still have some similar shelves from my old apartment up in the attic. Also bonus points for American Movie

  • @CameronMcCasland American Movie is a must own!

  • Right on. Nice shelf and your right about the alphabetizing thing. I still have my collection that way but I've got to figure out something else because it's a bitch to move DVDs and Blu-Rays just to fit one. Nice fix for "The Goonies" set pretty classy. I like the system. I might adopt something similar.

  • That set up is fine dude if it works for you. Mine is similar but I keep all the franchise movies together in order. I also have a shelf of movies I watch regularly. The tab idea could also work well too.

  • I alphabetize because I only have about 100 blus and 70 DVDs. lol

  • Personally I have my main collection all sorted by genre. Then another shelf I keep all my favorite sub-genres films, hammer films, and troma films together. I used to have mine alphabetized but it was always a damn shifting nightmare. To the point where I would let 10 movies stack up before I entered them in the shelf. Defintely not the way to go.

Good idea for goonies, I'm going to do that. If you got them from wallyworld, where exactly did you find them?

  • @Br4inDeadDan Pretty sure I got them where the fabrics and such are. Don't hold me to it, though. My brain gets fried in wally world. Great system for your DVDs, btw.

  • @TheKrazyJason gotcha. Got them the other day. After not looking too tardish in walmart.

    Perfect solution nonetheless.

  • great great collection ; - ) !!

  • How many DVD's does that shelf hold and what brand was that?

  • Hey KJ! are you gonna do a dvd collection, now that you got a great dvd shelf ? :)

And i have all my Dvd`s in genre, but i have my horror movies in one shelf for them self, because i love to collect Horror Movies ;)!

  • Can you put the link to the product in the description?

  • @diablo9333 I bought it in store. I looked on the Best Buy website, but didn't see the exact unit I have. But, it's the Media Tower Elite and it holds 531 DVDs or 633 Blurays.

  • @TheKrazyJason Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • The new shelf is great!! I put my DVDs in genre, but it is hard putting the DVDs together once yoyu get new DVDs in any type of order.

Love that Goonies edition!! I will have to check it out sometime.

  • @Rhine1988 Thanks, man!!

  • How Many DVDs to you own?? Nice shelf btw..

  • i`ve been there on the alphabetizing on shelves, freakin sucks. i use my top shelf for sequels and remakes with the originals, 2nd horror, 3rd sci-fi and documentary, 4th for comedy, and bottom for action and anything else.

  • @AtomicKingZilla Lol, love it man! Sequels on top. I love how everyone has their own, unique system for categorizing.

  • it doesnt matter it if its alphebeticaly ordered if you have some kind of way to organize them but dont just through dvds in there and say its good or youll never find them

  • @dudesrule27 I agree with you.

  • thanks, now i know what to do with my Goonies boxset :P

  • @playdangerous Awesome, glad I could help!

  • That's a really neat Cinema Paradiso box set! I didn't know that existed, I'll have to keep my eye out for that.

  • @Caitlin0120 Thanks! Yeah, I've had that edition for years. Cinema Paradiso is in my top 5 favorite films of all time.

  • the velcro tabs are genius!!!! it bothers me that mine doesnt close

  • @jrdnr87 Thanks, I hope it works for you!

  • Your shelf is nice and your way of categorizing is great =) The Goonies box set fits nicely on top of the shelf =D

  • @rondontori13 Thank you!

  • Cool shelf sir. I love your blu/dvd combo pack idea. I think everyone definitely has their own system and thats the beauty of it, you build your collection toi fit your own needs, etc. I think I have my HD DVD, laserdiscs, and blu rays in alpha'. and all of my DVDs are by genre!? hehe strange I know. My poor old VHS tapes are living in a Rubbermaid tote in the basement where they lie dormant until their needed resurrections!?!?hehe rock on sir!

  • @EnduranceProductions Thanks, man! Sounds like you have a simple stress free system for the most part.

  • What I do is I keep them alphabetized, and keep them in a Microsoft Excel document. All new titles I get I keep separate. Once or twice a year, me and a friend then take all of them out and put them in order. It really has worked for me.

  • @bigfoistfilms Hmmmm...a bit too stringent for me. But, it sounds like a nice tight system.

  • It looks really nice, I actually just filmed a video response showing off how mad my organisation is.

  • @fergmaster Love your video!

  • Cool shelf !!

I don't alphabetisise any more for the same reasons, i just try to keep films by genre.

  • @MLJK21 Thank you!

  • It looks really nice, I really must get some nice shelving myself

  • @dinolast Thanks! Yeah, good shelving is a real stress releaver.

  • Your Shelf is very good :)! nice find you got there KJ!

  • @kasper26702670 Thank you much!

  • i would love to just know my friend how much did u pay for this dvd shelf dude :)

  • @joseph10704 It was 99.99.

  • @TheKrazyJason thanks buddy

  • Love the new shelf buddy. I Alphabetize by Genre I know its a pain to move everything to put in the new purchases but thats my system.

  • Looks very smart mate! its very hard to keep up with A-Z when you dont have the room great idea about a shelf with your most watched dvds i try to keep them in some sort of order but i have a space problem aswell so they do get mixed up alot great vid mate!

  • @Bigal1982 Thanks, man!!

  • I like the idea of having your favorites on the top shelf. i'd definitely organize the rest of the DVDs by genre.

  • Nice Unit man and good luck with the order of your collection

  • What's up man. I have my DVDs and blurays in alphabatized. I had too it would drive me crazy looking through all my DVDs for a title that was just randomly inserted. How much was that shelf? I like the top part vaudeville hits tons of figures and horror statues and bobble heads. Awesome video.

  • @horror408 Thanks! The shelf was 99.99.

  • How much did the Shelf cost big dog?

  • @wetmovie1 99.99. I thought it was a pretty good price, compared to prices for similar units I was seeing online.

  • @TheKrazyJason Cool thanks for the info bro

  • i know wehat you mean mine are in alphabetical order but i find it easier to find a film yh its a pain in the ass but easier for me :)

  • Cool man that shelf was a good buy man! It looks good.

"Alphabatize" or however it´s spelled sucks man. The Way you talk about doing it seems fine with me, i have a similar way of organizing my movies man.

I go by director, genre, color, design, actor, company, and some other things and it is more simply then it sounds and i looks good when the movies matches each other a little more, i see the shelf itself as a painting :)

Good solution with the Goonies box man i like it.

  • @Heavymetalrille Your system sounds awesome, man!!

  • I alphabetize my collection just to know where movies are in order, but I don't have a shelf at all so all my movies are alphabetized on my floor as of now. The shelf turned out great, and I kinda like your order as well. I also have that Goonies blu-ray set and I hate that it flaps open, so i'll buy those tabs soon.

    Great vid!

  • @cores717 Cool man, thanks!!

  • Looks awesome. I agree about the alphabetizing, it is a pain in the ass moving everything for 1 damn dvd. I alphabetize and sort by genre which makes alphabetizing easier but i'm still thinking about doing something different. I really need a new shelf because currently I am using 3 smaller shelfs and need 1 large one, so you would recommend that dvd shelf. How much did it run you? I would be able to fit the majority on it. Great idea for the Goonies set. Awesome vid bro!

  • @TromaticAddict Thank you!! It was 99.99. A pretty good deal, I think.

  • " Under Balls" patent pending! lol
