It was a pretty insane knock. A pretty important part went through the pan at one point, and that was about it for that shitty engine. i think 2 years had these 2.8L gm V6 in them... junk engines. total shit. and oddly enough, mated to a chrysler A908 trans

@tommartyn 2.8l v6 engines were great..my 1985 Buick skylark has one..its Amazing..they were good engines...just slow in these Jeeps

I've heard one other person say they are really awesome engines, but everyone else i've heard from or talked to just told me horror story after horror story about the quality and power of these engines. From a few people i heard that they came stock with a rod knock :) just a joke of course, though this one seriously had a bad one. The 2.5 (i think) liter 4 cyl's sopposedly put out almost the same power, but held up, and used less gas in these.

go beat up on some MTD tractor, leave the bolens/wheel horse/etc to us.

I'd be 'hatin' about the Cherokee, but it's got a GM 2.8 v6 under the hood... poor lil bastards should have never been born.

Nice! thanks for the advice, we probably wouldn't have thought of those things, and would have quickly failed again. which it might anyway, because the oil pressure starts normal, and quickly drops down way low as it warms up... so its pretty much doomed. but it'll be fun to get some more runs out of it. Then hopefully we can find an amc 4 for the beast :)

Tom, When you take the pan off to weld it, grind the rod off where it doesn't hit anything and let 'er eat on 5. Or, if thr od is busted at the big end, Hose clamp some sheet metal around the crank for oil control and come alive with 5.....LOL

we do the wheelie action with the wheelie horse alot, but alot of it doesn't end up on camera for some reason. haha, nah, i wasn't mad. just having some fun :) cause i got the thing stuck.

Yeah! us too, that was really impressive for sure! The thing loved it! yesterday, we threw a rod through the oil pan though. still runs, so we're thinking about patching the hole, and driving it on 5 cylinders or what ever till it breaks again :)
