  • trivial pursuit...many refer to the actual cutting part as the drill bit. Some refer to this same part as a drill and what ever tool used to turn it as the driver. What is the origin of the term drill bit? If that is not properly called a drill bit then what is it? I don't know so that's why I'm asking.

  • Hey folks!

I'm new at this whole DIY concept. Could somebody please tell me why he is drilling a hole in the first place? what are the holes used for? I'd really appreciate an answer since they're not so easy to come by.

  • @Verradonairun im not 100% sure but i think its pre drilling like you drill the hole then put a nail in it you do this so you dont split the wood but thats just my thought

  • @DipinAllDay Excellent! thanks, man. Appreciate it. :)

  • @Verradonairun no prob glad i could help

  • Does anyone know the name of the attachment that looks kinda like a chuck or angle chuck, that speeds up a standard single speed electric drill about 3 times as fast? I used one overseas and it worked GREAT! But they called it a "speed reducer"when it actually INCREASED the speed a lot! Please reply, thanks!

  • This was sooooo damn helpful!!! I jus bought a power drill kit and was clueless so as on how to use it!!! The instruction manual sucked bigtime!!!

  • "Usually.. these are just referred to as drills."

  • This is very helpful as an overview.

  • Caution: This product not intended for use as a dental drill

  • I have an old drill thats 200RPM uses

2" bits I think and is very heavy. So what your saying is that the lower the drill speed the more Tourque it has witch is beter for heavyer jobs right?
