Every dog we had was spayed and neutered, and they were ALL abandoned, which is how we ended up with them.
I know what culling is. I have NEVER heard of any farmer condoning cruelty toward any animal or witnessed it. When you kill an animal, you do it quick and painless. It's a FUNDAMENTAL responsibility.

Pesticides are sprayed that kill insects, rodents, mites, and other critters in pretty horrifying ways by the millions. Traps are set and farmers shoot foxes, groundhogs, deer, rats, mice, etc. There's blood on everyone's hands, but if you live in the city you can pretend that your food just magically appears.

And obviously hydroponics being indoors, there's no need for pesticides, and no "Foxes, groundhogs, deer, rats, mice, etc." I'm afraid your information is like conventional farming becoming outdated quickly.

And no, it's hardly outdated. Some specialty crops may be grown indoors, but the overhead costs for these is far higher than traditional field till. Unless you're filthy rich, most of your food still comes from the ground.

The people who sent the cats and dogs there didn't have any other choice. Instead of killing them instantly, the animal shelters shelter them. Obviously they have to be killed because otherwise, they would overrun the place. But this is only 6 puppies and not 5 million! Chickens and cows are killed for food.

If you live on a farm with a small pack of dogs and you let every dog live when a new litter is born, you will quickly be overrun. They will eat you out of house and home, bring in parasites and diseases, and cause problems with the neighbors. That's why you sell them if you can. If you can't, you drown them. It sucks, but the alternative sucks more.

Hey. I grew up in a rural area.
Every dog we had was spayed and neutered, and they were ALL abandoned, which is how we ended up with them.
I know what culling is. I have NEVER heard of any farmer condoning cruelty toward any animal or witnessed it. When you kill an animal, you do it quick and painless. It's a FUNDAMENTAL responsibility.

For example, Dalmatians are very difficult to own. They had an explosion of popularity when 101 Dalmatians came out - serious Dalmatian owners say it ruined the breed, and it did, but not before hundreds of thousands went to a shelter to die.
Those are the reasons people give. Seriously, talk to a bleeding heart at a shelter, they learn it themselves, and then they quit.

At least these puppies had a relatively quick death. While it's sad and disgusting, I hate how people turn a blind eye to other animal abuse happening with even our own borders (the U.S)... either through animal testing, or slaughter houses, or other industrial complexes designed to create food for us.
