Lessons 13 and 14 may be swapped around. I was a bit unsure due to the picking in the Exercise 1 Backwards video, as he alt picks in it. Also, both lesson 6 and 8 say that the next lesson is tuning the guitar, so I just put it as lesson 8.

Anywho, please thumbs up so everyone who watches the videos can see the order. (Y)

And please leave thanks to Bryan and expertvillage.

  • this is strange when i try to watch the video, i can hear the audio but the video is frosen :(

  • that guy is stoned

  • treblier?? thats not a word dude... no offence =)

  • someone please reply i am getting a guitar for this up coming x mas and i was wondering if i should start off by learning from a book internet or instructor

  • @lougnut

Well, when i got mine last February, i thought that i would need an instructor, but i learned everything from the internet and devoted practice. I even learned how to sweep pick, just from watching a video.

So i would go with the internet. (Its free, and there are tons of videos out there.)

  • i'm not so sure if i agree with you on the internet being free.. lessons are, but u gotta pay for that internet usually.

  • lol if you have wireless

    xD

  • @thekcor hey i am trying to learn to play can you link some good video´s thx :)

  • @thekcor Technically, the internet isn't free..

  • @tobisinn

borrowed wireless tends to be for the person borrowing it

  • @thekcor "Borrowing" Lol.

  • @tobisinn

    Exactly

  • play around with it a little bit but try not to mess it up and always make sure to have clean hands before you play. then see an instructor

  • teach yourself, its not that hard, more self taught guitarists have made it to the big time than ones who went to an instructor :)

  • @TheBunEater but sometimes an instructor is just what you need to be motivated to practice. Like me it is hard for me to keep motivated unless i have someone expecting me to practice.

  • @TheBunEater name them please

  • @dako89 just a few; Mick Thomson, Kirk Hammet, Corey Taylor, Synyster Gates, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Dave Mustaine and Eddie Van Halen, and I personally bet those self taught guitarists are more famous than the millions of people who take lessons today

  • @TheBunEater being more famous it doesn't mean to be better players, how about Alexi Laiho, Roope Latvala, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Chris Broderick, Michael Amott, Slash, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, DIMEBAG DARRELL ABBOTT they all took lessons and kick ass. Lessons help you to be a better player in a lot of ways.

By the Dave Mustaine took lessons (search the video - Dave Mustaine - Guitar Lesson) take a look at 3:54

  • @dako89 obviously if they are more famous it's because they are better players... lol

Slash pretty much taught himself, took 2 lessons then left, Dime also left after only a few lessons, and whether you like it or not, the best guitarists in the world are self taught and nothings going to change that

  • @TheBunEater

Kirk Hammet took lessons from Satriani.

  • @TheDeuxExMachina yes he did but he's mostly self taught

  • @TheBunEater

Man, I don't think that ANYONE who had lessns fron Satch is "mostly self-taught".

  • @TheDeuxExMachina nope, or maybe someone who went to 3 or 4 lessons after spending years self teaching themselves from age 15.

  • @TheBunEater He had 2 years of lessons with Satch and Satriani also had a contribution on some Metallica solos. You can look on the Internet.

  • @TheDeuxExMachina ok guess i'm wrong then, sorry :(

  • @TheBunEater No problem, mate. Keep on listening good music!

  • @TheDeuxExMachina gotta admit though, Kirk sure has developed his music a lot further than Joe

  • @TheBunEater how its so dificult lolz

  • @TheBunEater i totally agree.. but that does not mean u don't need help... tips are really useful

  • @TheBunEater haha ur comment made me feel good about being self taught thanks dude

  • @TheBunEater Fallacy...A Self made man is a fool's philosophy. Even Jimmy Page learned classical guitar in school before he moved on to Rock. He had to even go back later because he couldn't read music =O...Stay in school kids!

  • @TheBunEater well said, i play bass, guitar and drums, and i showed myself how to play! its WAYYY easier then looking at a video!

  • @TheBunEater Not many people are trying to make the big time when teaching themselves guitar. Also, what does it matter how you learn how to play, if you can play, you can play.

  • @lougnut i have also just started playing i find it alot easier to watch someone playing than to read it off a book but i guess it would be personal preference

  • utilize all three, expcially these videos they are very enlightening, but if ur money is low utilize these internet vids and books...if u have money for an instructor why not, im sure that wud be great for u as well

  • Hey what did you start with ?cause im getting a guitar for my birthday and i dont know if i use the internet or instructor to start with :)

  • i just went with internet its not bad just search up like how to play a plucking song not struming

  • Alright cool :) , are you good at it yet then?

  • oh yea i can play a bit of raining blood some paranoid by black sabith smoke on the water James bond and some stuff i made up once you get the hang of the song just learn one littler part then another put them two together and do it over again

  • ohh cool , looking forward to getting my guitar now :) thankyou for the help

  • up too you if you learn best by your own self learning then do it that way its definetely cost effective too but it's entirely up too you and buy guiatar for dummies the best guitar book in the world seriously. good luck and message me if you want any help or guitar knowledge etc.

  • I have ordered guitar for dummies so yeah try and learn from that and see how it goes, cause i have been all over youtube trying to find good tutorial videos for beginners but its a bit mhnn not so good, this video is alright though :).

Thanks you'll be hearing from me soon . .jk .

    =]

  • Runearch you should know how your guitar works so you know how to make it sound the best. its just like knowing your electronics and amps, your gonna wanna know what it is to sound the best. If you guys just want to learn some songs visit my page i have a couple songs so far adding more. Come check it out!

  • acoustic

  • I have a guitar , but no pick! is it recommened???

  • yes, its easier to learn with a pick, and there not expensive or anything so go get one =)

  • ya get one there like 25 cents at some music stores

  • GET SOME PICKS!!! I think its best to get medium picks but its up to you what you get... but yes picks are very recommended

  • it is easier but then again i use johnson heavy picks

  • actually, you can also use a coin. but you dont need one.

  • hi im going on guitar lesson but i start with electric but much people say i must start whit acoustic whats better?

  • it's not wat's better. it's what you like more. Pick something that you would want to play more. If you start off with an acoustic/classical ur fingers will harden up so when u advance to elec it won't b so hard and ur fingers won't rip. Also depends on what style you want to play. also, imo electrics are more versatile bcos u can do more things with it. IMO

  • electric is a lot eaiser to play acoustic hurts like crazy

  • yes, but it hardens your fingers making it easier to play later on and once you can play with normal plastic strings on acoustic switch to metal strings then you can play electric so its really easy to play but still practice with an acoustic whenever possible helps you make everything easier

  • it depends on the style your going for, if your going for a metal genre of playing, i suggest an electric - specifically an Ibanez - for jazz, i'd suggest a fender, for rock, a gibson (all electrics), but if your going more for country, gospel, etc. go for an acoustic (idk tht many acoustic brands, sorry =( )

  • acoustic

  • acoustic the strigs are harder than electric but when u gain calis it will be easier on the electric i started like that im recommending acoustic

  • Accoustic :)

  • same here. i have played piano for like 11 yrs since 6. lol.. and i regret that i didin't learn guitar be4. but i'm getting my first guitar soon ;P

  • An Acoustic is much harder to play than an electric, soley because the strings are much thicker. I recommend starting on an acoustic because it helps to build strength in your fingers, as well as the caluses that are esential.

  • aucoustic

  • He forgot to mention that doobie he lost while filming this. Hell, at least he's got a real Gibson SG and not some knock-off. I have both a Gibson SG & a Gibson Les Paul. Two of the greatest guitars ever made!

  • he sounds like he's being forced to teach us noobs

  • hes a good teacher

  • duhhhhhh u didnt help me

  • i'm just wondering when you play frets do you press your finger down on the string over the actual silver bar or the space in between the bars? because i always hold the string down on the block of space between, is this wrong? i can never tell when i watch people play where they're putting their fingers..

  • between them

  • press down just behind the fret bar :)

  • thank you for all the lessons :) im good at it now like my friends (im 11)

  • he looks stoned

  • idk, for my first guitar ever i got a epiphone sg special. like his but epiphone. u think its a good idea to start at my age? im 15. i just started getting into guitar. or is it never really late to start?

  • not really i started playing at 14

  • Nah, dude. Kirk Hammett of Metallica started playing at fifteen and so did I (23 now). Practice a lot and be disciplined, never afraid to learn from somewhere else. You'll be a-okay, my friend.

  • what do u think i should do? im thinking of getting some lessens like the basics (about 5-7 lessons) and thats it.. but idk dont wanna throw away money if i dont need it.

  • Well, lessons are always good but I found it better to save my money for the harder stuff. As you can see, a lot of people post beginner lessons on YouTube and other websites. The best advise I could give you would be to a)watch other players (on youtube, your favorite guitarists and your guitar-playing friends), b)invest in a chord chart (it's cheap and easy to learn from) and c)practice and take it slow, focus on one thing you want to learn. Most of all develop your own style. You'll be great.

  • i'm somewhat happy i watched K-ON XD

  • and i just got yui's guitar XD $650 omgzzz but its an epiphone, not a gibson like yui has

  • :o wer?!?!?!

  • wow a 1500 dollar guitar with a cheap amp you are supose to have a good amp when are going to play

  • that looks like a gibson 1961 reissue with a lyle vibrola.. more like $2000 and maybe he likes the sound from that amp or just cant make too much noise cuz of dumb neighbors.. everyone wants a marshall full stack.. but those are LOUD. :)

  • You're supposed to deal with it and hold down the string despite the pain. Don't worry, soon your hand will grow calices and you won't notice it anymore. But getting your hands used to the strings is an essential part of learning guitar.

  • I have a question. When i hold down a string it hurts my fingers and if i do it softer it wont make a good sound and some times the string next to it will not make a sound cause my finger hits it. What am I supposed to do?

  • It's perfectly normal, how long have you been playing for?

  • 304754 no that's not true ^^

It's mybe helpfull wehn you learn to play e-guitar but you can begin your playing with a e-guitar without problems...

  • whats the black piece on the body called?? & what does it do??

  • a pick guard stops you scratching your guitar when you strum

  • I got a question........... My cousin said I HAVE to know how to play an acoustic guitar to learn how to play the electric. Is that true? I'm getting an electric guitar soon..... Some one PLEASE reply.... Thanks.

  • lol no u dont have to hes just being a prick

  • no thats not true. Ive been playing for 5 years and i have a electric and acoustic and there pretty much the same sep that electric you can do different sounds and pitches so you can start on either one.

  • no...plus an acoustic and electric have 2 TOTALLY different feels

  • no its not true i learned electric before i played acoustic...so it doesnt mater

  • wow..i though i knew what parts were on a guitar..but i have an accoustic. Kinda looks like cliff burton

  • can someone tell me what is the "bridge" position for a 5 position pick selector Fender Squire?

  • bridge position is when the pickup switch is to the rear of your guitar switching your bridge "back" pickup on.

  • Wow, this is awesome, especially for me. I know absolutely nothing about the guitar but now I do. I've always wanted to learn to play. Thanks so much =)

  • same.I have just orderd one but i dont know much about it so thanx

  • You'r whrily good teacher =]

  • thank u for this!! :)

  • lol... head

  • this guy is a good teacher

  • Some people need stuff like this, ya douchebag

  • i agree!!! he's better than mah teacher :)

  • longest middle finger i've ever seen!

  • cool thanks for that

  • tryna get a guitar for my birthday, dnt know if i shud get an acoustic or electric...sum1 help me out..?

  • electric

  • electrick

  • No get an acoustic if it's your first guitar because it's better to learn how to play on the acoustic

  • esay

  • Great Teacher!

  • thanks

  • no strings?

  • best lessons on youtube. :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it would be good if you could name the lessons in sequence from 1, 2,3... and so on. Then would be a systematic way of learning

  • That's what I been trying to figure about for the past ten minutes. Organize the dam lessons

  • @Expertvillage

It would probably be good to number your guitar lesson videos. I've seen 5 or 6 now, but a systematic search is hard to do, to do them in the right sequence. I solve it as best as I can by typing both search terms "expertvillage" and "guitar".

  • I think you have a very good teacher here on youtube already. If you really like it, you can even go faster than a lesson once a week. Why not?

  • i'm like so fucking pissed cause i wanna learn the guitar so fucking badly but my mom called the guitar teacher and she said she arranged lessons for me on wednesday @ 5. and she said she would call us to let us know if we can come or not. and give us information about that place. so that wednesday came, and she never fucking called. and i've been waiting for years to learn. i guess i'll just learn from a guy friend of mine. ugh ]:
