  • The cause of this problem is simple: not enough funding for schools. It's all being funneled to special interests, big corporations, and of course, the war. School just isn't important to administrations any more. They'll be sorry when Asian children own everything in America and we're all speaking Chinese.

  • It is the American people's own fault! We allowed the government to grow and asked them to "take care of us"....what did you expect would happen? I have been preaching for liberty and freedom for so long yet it seems like no one listens! They just build up their monolithic centralized federal systems....something we know doesn't work! It isn't like more funding will suddenly fix everything! McCain and Obama are horrible candidates! I hope you research my page! Peace!

  • Liberty and freedom is great, but we still need more funding for schools. ;)

  • On a federal level? Why can the more efficient states not handle that allowing the states to compete instead of monopolizing education in D.C.? As long as federal government's decades of scope growth continues and parental choice is limited....schools will continue to decline regardless of how much money you throw at the problem. When will we start hacking at the root? Why give a failing system more money? Why not fix the system?

  • You seem to be advocating running government like a business, which I am at times and in places in strong favor of (at least, that's what I'm getting from your comment). There's only two places I disagree with that notion, and that's education and health care. My wife is a teacher and my dad works in health care. Their main problem? No funding. Sorry, maybe you'll have to agree to disagree with me in that regard. But yeah, the goverment in general? Way too bloated. Totally agree with that.

  • Actually I am trying to make sure the government doesn't turn into a business like every other monopoly it touches. Our kids are too important to be placed into a non-competitive centralized system! The parents need their dollar to go farther with greater value, more choice of materials, more chance to improve children instead of keeping them all equally down. Only through a voucher system or private schooling can efficiency be achieved because the consumer demands must be met!

  • Well, I can't say as I agree with private schooling, at least not pure private schooling, but I do know that when I hear people say "Only through (insert words here) can we achieve (certain outcomes)", I get worried. Sounds a little too extreme to me. Best of luck to you.

  • The extreme is government monopoly schools that our draining our economy while at the same time giving our children horrible results! You should really research the voucher system. It allows every kid the best education! The parents would get to take government vouchers to any school of their choice and private schools would flourish! This would also end the whole prayer in school, what kids learn....all those problems because the parents would have choice! The public monopoly has to go! Peace!

  • Peace! ;)
