I seem to remember that this was the second version of Donkey Kong that Ocean software released. This was the better one... the earlier one was even worse than this one. Think the first version was just called "Kong" rather than "Donkey Kong".

Donkey for the Sinclair Spectrum ZX has got to be 1 of the hardest versions of all DK ports. The collision detection is Waaaay way to sensitive. It's hard to even clear the 1st board. Personally I find Texas Instruments TI99, and Commodore 64 to be the best ports made. NES was a let down. Why the NES version (when Donkey Kong is friggen MADE by Nintendo) didn't have the pie board (aka cement factory, conveyor belts) is beyond me.  There was memory'o plenty on the carts. Oh well.

I mostly really liked the conversions of arcade games on the spectrum, but this was really really really BAD. How could they made it this bad, damn. I think the spectrum deserved a better version.
