I have an unclear mind right now . So are you encouraging young girls to starve them selfs ??? Because that is sick , and cruel . I don't see why you have to starve yourself to be skinny. That's just unhealthy. You can be very healthy, skinny and not starving if you eat healthy foods. :) This way, you won't slow your metabolism down by starving youself and the body won't start storing every calorie it doesn't use as fat, due to it being in "starvation mode".
Well I think that those designers should think a little more about how they infect children. Im fine with my weight, Im average and I dont envy people who are really skinny, but I dont mind them either. I mean it looks good on some people
Being skinny is not always that great. I'm skinny and I can't help it, I joined the cross country team and I basically looked annorexic because of all the running, yet I was eating junk food during all of my classes. That's just how I am and my family is the same way. I can't even wear adult clothes because my hips are too small and I'm 18 :/
I'm not envious or angry at supermodels or myself. What confuses me is the fact that fashion designers are supposed to make clothes that their customers will want to buy. What their customers want are clothes that are flattering on them. Their customers are not super models. Most of us aren't starving to death thin. So why design clothes that pretty much only look good on starving skinny people?
I fucking swear me an Onision could be freaking brothers we are so much alike from what I can tell and we agree on so much but not everything so there's still that stuff that's different so if we actually had been brothers we'd fight a little but for the most part be really cool with eachother. lol

Modeling is an incredibly depressing thing, people constantly telling you you're not good enough. I feel bad for the models. Also, girls, those models have had surgery done, wear a bunch of makeup, etc. NOBODY looks like that. I turned down a modeling contract with Tripp/Hot Topic for that reason.
It's there job. It's how they get by in life. I'm no divine person who can judge them and think I'm better.
Do doctors and actuaries and what important roles have you make dumb people feel insecure?
Unless it's gone to an unhealthy degree I don't care if they're job makes people feel bad about themselves. Girls should love themselves and it's they're own fault if they don't. It's not the models that make these rules, it's society, everyone, people in general. And they get by by following them
I am a skinny dude and a lot of my friends (both male and female) say things like, it is not fair, i hate that your so skinny or how can you eat so much and not gain an ounce, etc. I have a strong self image and I am proud of who I am. Some people need to start loving themselves and quit hating those of us that love who we are! Both us skinny and fat self loving individuals!
I believe that us souls, are in our costumes (our bodies outside flesh) God gave us these "costumes" and either we choose to modify it (starve) or ink it or pierce it. We are still insecure, our souls are insecure we just walk in "better" costumes

ADDING: recently i watched an episode of Americas next top model, where a girl was told by a designer that he prefers models to measure 35 around the hips(she measured 39) And she already had an eating disorder. He didnt know about it, but still. The judges also commented on her size, yet she was superskinny.... SUCK!(sigh in swedish...)
The fashion industry is hard core, particularly when it comes to models on the runway. Isn't it confusing when you think about it how much the ideal for girls has been to look like thin teenage BOYS? Strange ideal when the clothes are meant to fit FEMALE bodies... The female body is biologically DESIGNED to have A: more fat(20-25% bodyfat), B: A curvacious shape, C: babies. I would love to look inside the head of a designer who promotes a superskinny idealbody
It's not your fault if you have a eater disorder.I actually don't eat very much and people think I have a disorder. I'm mad at myself... I weigh 120 pounds and i'm 11 now i know i'm taller then almost everyone in my school (5 foot, 4 inches) and i have to wear a large in teens... i'm very mad at myself for weighing this much I'm mad at how there are all these people around me that weigh 50 pounds and have cute boyfriends.... i will never get a boyfriend if i'm taller then them and weigh more then them....
@TheMonkeyhuggerz Girl, I had the same problem. I was 12 and 116 pounds and I felt fat. May I note that I was taller than alot of people. My est friend was short and 68 pounds and I hated myself everytime i saw her. Please, there's nothing wrong with you . I figured that after I got over my eater disorder that I was normal. Your beautiful and need to embrace your flaws. Your not fat hun. Your perfect and any boy that doesnt see that doesnt deserve you. Im here if you need to talk :)!
for the longest time my own body actually rejected me eating food. because for the first 5 years of my school "career" i was called fat, when they didn't make my size because of how small i was. i was made at myself, and i saw the models and the people around me and how they looked and i hated myself for being me. now that im about to graduate high school, and i've matured more and seen more and opened my eyes, im more mad at them for pushing stuff like this on young girls in the first place.
I am unfortunately skinny (a guy, not becoming a model xD) and people say I need to eat more or they will shove a building down my throat (as if that makes sense). I eat at least 2,000 carbs and 3,000 calories every day. :(
I'm 16, about 5'3 and am 93 pounds. I have a hard time gaining weight. I usually go from 91 to 98, but only if I've had a few heavy meals (in one day, though). After about an hour or so, the weight's gone. I:
@TheMonkeyhuggerz Try changing your diet, or exercising a bit. I have a cousin a couple inches taller than me, who weighs about 120-125. She's put on a bit of weight, but has been losing it due to her change. Eats whatever she wants, but still maintains her regiment.
i REALLY like the way you handled this one. most people would say something like, "it's not natural to be that skinny, it's unhealthy, it's horrible". which is partially true- the methods used to stay that thin may not necessarily be healthy. BUT it IS their job, and it's what they chose to do, and that doesn't mean that everybody should feel that they are imperfect because they're not like them.
I'm skinny and healthy, and my mom was a model, but I don't believe in being a model on a runway. I don't have a problem with people who want to be or are models, I just don't think you should go to extremes to accomplish the stereotypical "beauty" of society.
You titled this video as eating disorders, but girls with eating disorder are really focused on being skinny. It looks that way from people who don;t understand, but not eating is the symptom to a much deeper problem.
I understand where your coming from, but I don't like your argument. A person doesn't HAVE to be a model. You said they have no choice. They do and if they wanted to, they could quit and move on to a different career path. People shouldn't hate people based on their bodies or for any reason for that matter, People should only be judged on the content of their character. (Thank you Mr. King) I sort of agree with what your saying, but like I said, your argument is ehhhh.
Skinny people who starve themselves are less pretty and selfish. Usually people don't see that though and use them as role models. They regret it later but now all they think about is looking pretty which they won't. But I don't blame the models, I blame the people who show them off to make their product more appealing. Girls who aren't insanely skinny don't try to be models because they will never be picked and that is why everywhere you look there is an anorexic girl on a poster or magazine
Models do sometimes Encourage Young girls to Starve themselves, Just because they are made to think that being that Skinny, Is the most Popular thing around.
Well there are thick super models not all skinny.Desingers relize that there are people who would love to wear those clothes but because they are to big cant buy it.I think desingers didnt realize that they would make more money if they allowed bigger sizes so now they have thick supermodels
i dont like skinny chics, i think its disgusting, im a little chubby and i like girls who arnt toothpicks, its ok to be skinny but i think the models r taking it to far
I wouldn't say a lot of people hate models as such just more the fact that the fashion industry puts them on the runways showing people that that is the body to wear the clothes and what not.
So I'm not mad at my self or at the models. I mad at the industry for picking the skinnier girls instead of the fuller girls or instead of both.
My sister is a supermodel, personally I look up to her. She in no way starves herself, she's not skinny by choice, far from it. She eats more than I do, she doesn't make herself throw up, doesn't over exercise, doesn't eat super healthy. None of that, it's just the way her body is. People can hate models as much as they want but is it really fair? My sister is a wonderful person.
Im Going To Be A Model, Some Time This Week, And In all honisty, im not the skinnyest person ever, but im not fat. i feel that god make me this way, why not be happy with what he gave me? [:
im mad at the designers who says they have to be unhealthy by making them so thin that they can die....there is nothing wrong with alittle curve to a girl.... i dont mean FAT i mean like healthy .....and people shouldnt feel bad for not being that thin...
@XxBlackEmoBloodxX I have been consuming three thausand calories a day and more for years and I can't gain weight. IT'S JUST AS MEAN TO CALL SOMEONE TOO THIN AS IT IS TO CALL THEM TOO FAT.
@XxBlackEmoBloodxX There's nothing wrong with what the designers are doing. Models should know going into the business what the requirements are. Though I do which there were more curvy models, because it is a factual statistic that most guys find that more attractive.
i agree with u on this. most people are saying that super models are making us feel fat but u can change that if u want too so dont just go putting your anger about your bady on the models. my sister is a model and she is very skinny but ive never felt insecure when i see her because i feel comfortable about how i look. :)
I'm a model but the thing is I feel horrible when I see my friends at school give tht glare when I know there a little jealous and they feel fat around me. I don't like being this skinny and I kinda wish I weighed a little bit more, but no matter how hard I try I litterally cant gain any weight.
I agree with you on this subject... BUT it usually takes life experience to realize that is ones own responsibility to feel good in your own skin.
a 5 year old girl is too impressionable to make this decision (body image disorders can start as young as this). It will take some trial and error. Since adult patterns start fom childhood this can be tricky.
btw, woman who are naturally thin can be judged also. society often berates them for not being "real" women. that is just as bad.
It seems like you're implying that supermodels have it right, and it's our fault that we're not as good as they are. But they aren't healthy. As someone who was severely anorexic for a long time, I can say from experience that the difference between being super thin and being healthy or overweight is not just a decision. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense. But the point is that these supermodels have damaged their bodies and are facing serious health risks, which is not something to aspire to.
I've never read a fashion magazine before, so I don't know textually what they advocate, but I don't see how visualizing a model would make someone feel like they're being forced to feel bad about themselves.
Just because someone smokes, eats greasy food, or don't eat at all, doesn't mean that you have too.
Eating disorders are mental and I know I( when I had these issues) never wanted to look like models but what I was working at was this picture in my head as how I thought I should look. Thats how it started then it went to being addicted to not eating and losing weight. Next thing I know I'm saying 'I never wanted to be this thin, I've gone too far, but I can't stop'.
Every story is different though. I say who cares about the runway model-its not like I want the clothes they're wearing.
Okay so that people have different metabolism, but the problem is not physically but psychologically. There were people who have committed suicide and who were overweight and the seeing in magazines, commercials, TV and all these things super thin people to feel uncomfortable in the world. There are also people who feel so beautiful resort to offend the other perosonas to make them feel less and that is what happens between fat and thin. But i don't care I AM A ENORMOUS BEAUTY.
I think people are forgetting a couple of things here, metabolism and body type. There are some people in this world who were not meant to be thin, others have trouble gaining weight, it's just accepting your body as it is and just trying to be healthy. I think super models are just born with that body type, though I'm sure some have eating disorders. Perceive yourself Wonderful and that's how the rest of the world will see you too! ;) peace
Models in most cases chose to be models. They chose that life style. They chose their own unhappiness. Personally I dont care about a weight of a person or if they have a tummy roll the fact is, is that people still think there is people out there wanting to see sticklike people. As they say, fat is the new thin. Photo shop and all that bull is just catching kids at a young age.
I would have to say the supermodels, if I even cared what they looked like or how skinny they are. It's unhealthy is all I think when I see someone at their age as skinny as a 13 year old should be.
I am mad at myself.I need to get off my fat a** and exercise everyday for an hour.I will start that tommorow.I say tommorow not because I am putting it off but because it it like 8:00 PM and dark and freezing outside.
It's not the supermodel's fault that other people have eating disorders. I have also been bulimic for years, but mine didn't start with comparing myself to models because I realized that they are an unrealistic representation of what a person should look like. My problem started in high school when I was taunted mercilessly. I get called fat at a size 8. Is that fat? Idk, but no I am not mad at the models. I did, for a while, completely and totally hate myself enough to destroy my insides.
i don't think that super models can be blamed for eating disorders i do however think that the modelling industry along with most other areas of the entertainment industry are definately a factor in the cause of the disorders. i have had issues with bulimia and anorexia for four years. pressure from the media is definately an factor but the underlying issues causing people to go to such extreme lengths needs to be examined more closely and prevented.
love yoru body no matter how skinny or fat you are. and you probably think your fatter than you are. most of you are HEALTHY SO DONT CALL YOURSELF FAT.
Uh neither. I don't get mad but I'd put the blame on the fashion industry for pushing that ideal on society because what's the point? Do the clothes look better? Are they easier to make? Yeah people could just let it not bother them, except everywhere you turn there's reinforcement of how inadequate you are. So if people are mad, yes they are really mad at themselves but it's b.c. there's been a whole society which says that you're inferior if you don't look like those models.
I'm skinny, and I'm gonna be a model. My mom and I both have incredible metabolisms, we can't help it! But people we don't even know still hate us . . . just love your body!
@baeuthys I am thin too, but I'm healthy. I also have high metabolism, and I agree! Bigger people don't like to be bashed, and neither do us thinner people!
Wow, you've just realized the same thing every eating disorderd teenage girl already has. It's your own fucking fault if you look disgusting. Not the people's they use as thinspiration.
i say if u want to look like a super kodel u must be stupid!! EVERYONE has something special about them everyones unique..... and everyone is beautiful in there own way...oh and if u starve yourself your body will put out sugars and they will put out to much causing fat ^_^ just sayin
its quite sad that society consider the thinnes of supermodels to be beutifull. it seems unhealthy to me for girls to idolise unhealthy looking people. if society idolised models that had more realistic figeures there wud be alot less people trying to be thinner wen their already as thin as a healthy person can be.
Considering all of the pressure pushed on these girls I'm not surprised they'd have such troubles, when we're teens we aren't exactly the most educated, independent people out there, we're still pretty damn stupid and can be effected by others dramatically, we do ultimately choose to act like that, but it's hardly a choice at all for some people.
Hmm very interesting topic. I've been told lately that I should model... i'm actually not tall so I dont know if I still qualify. And well some models dont actually eat but I do. And well there's been horror stories that once you get in they say you need to lose more weight... so I don't know... good subject.
Well we all have our points that we dont like about our selves.
seeing models makes me want to run 20 miles tho.
yeah im pretty skinny, but im pretty sure theres some guys that dont want twigs as girlfriends because their scared to snap them in half, as i look at myself i realise i dont need all that make up that they do wear, but i dont relitivly like what i see looking back at me in the mirror.
i think that society, in this case, is a negative spiral down. that people look up to people how are famous and want to be like them, so in the case of models they want to look and act like them. the models then, because society says to, have to be even thinner because thats what people expect and then the fans want to be even thinner to be like them and it just back and forth.
I love this channel and how you've recently been firing out these types of videos. I've been posting them on my facebook to get your words out there and it's really helped a lot of my friends. Thanks again for a wonderful video!
im a guy who has starved himself before and i didnt do it cause of some model i did it cause i felt i was to chubby and i personly found it to be unatractive so to loose to weight in a hurry i starved my self i know its unhealthy and yada yada but guess what i did it out of personal choice models dont make ppl skinny nor does society ppl make ppl skinny
You know, quite to the contrary, starving one's self will lead to weigh gain. Your body will hold on to what it has with diligence, since it believes itself to be starving, it will shut its systems down, and switch to preservation mode.
And you must admit, if you eat MORE than you use you WILL gain weight, if you eat as much as you use your weight will not change, and if you eat less than you use you will lose weight. You also must admit that there is no other way.
If you eat several smaller meals you feel hungry less, but you still eat less.
You cannot take in 2000 calories a day, burn 2000 calories, and lose weight. If you can, you either paid for surgery or you are terribly terribly ill.
How do you think you use the food you eat? Thinking really hard? Why did I mention burning calories if I wasn't talking about exersize? Was I talking about setting fire to your belly fat?
in truth, girls have a totally warped view of mens preferences on women. men dont particularly like really skinny women, because they look sickly and thats unattractive. guys like healthy looking women, which only means eating right and exercising maybe 4 times a week. try asking men their preferences instead of assuming based on social norms and beliefs you get from magazines.. you might actually be suprised.
Wow, you totally made a point that I have never really thought of. I'm mad at myself, I guess. I don't like being as big as I am, and I have tried everything. I recently got over my purging disorder. I still struggle and slip up, but I am learning to love my body the way it is, but I just think that every girl wants people to look at them, they way people look at super models, and it's really hard to be that thin.
if women think their fat at a size 5. Good luck in life. girls are obsessed with looking great. so are guys. i dont look good myself. neither am i ugly in my opinion. but if they dont like me for who i am. fuck off. I WILL BE WHO I WISH TO BE.
neither at them or myself, I know I could lose some pound but I'd never be as skinny as they are 'cause I have my own complexion, certainly I think most of them look just more than beautiful but I'm just thinking about their face features, as humans we have not only one shape, (glad we don't) so I'm tall and some clothes look good on me, so I'm not skinny some clothes look so not good on me, finally who cares? I wear what I like and I like how I feel about it
I have an unclear mind right now . So are you encouraging young girls to starve them selfs ??? Because that is sick , and cruel . for the longest time my own body actually rejected me eating food. because for the first 5 years of my school "career" i was called fat, when they didn't make my size because of how small i was. i was made at myself, and i saw the models and the people around me and how they looked and i hated myself for being me. now that im about to graduate high school, and i've matured more and seen more and opened my eyes, im more mad at them for pushing stuff like this on young girls in the first place.

BUT it IS their job, and it's what they chose to do, and that doesn't mean that everybody should feel that they are imperfect because they're not like them.
passthespazplz 1 year ago
I'm skinny and healthy, and my mom was a model, but I don't believe in being a model on a runway. I don't have a problem with people who want to be or are models, I just don't think you should go to extremes to accomplish the stereotypical "beauty" of society.

@XxBlackEmoBloodxX There's nothing wrong with what the designers are doing. Models should know going into the business what the requirements are. Though I do which there were more curvy models, because it is a factual statistic that most guys find that more attractive.

I'm a model but the thing is I feel horrible when I see my friends at school give tht glare when I know there a little jealous and they feel fat around me. I don't like being this skinny and I kinda wish I weighed a little bit more, but no matter how hard I try I litterally cant gain any weight.
JourdansKandyLand 2 years ago

I say who cares about the runway model-its not like I want the clothes they're wearing.
lhsdixiedoll 2 years ago
Okay so that people have different metabolism, but the problem is not physically but psychologically. There were people who have committed suicide and who were overweight and the seeing in magazines, commercials, TV and all these things super thin people to feel uncomfortable in the world. There are also people who feel so beautiful resort to offend the other perosonas to make them feel less and that is what happens between fat and thin. But i don't care I AM A ENORMOUS BEAUTY.
estefaniamenar 2 years ago

TheHurtAndTheLost 2 years ago
I would have to say the supermodels, if I even cared what they looked like or how skinny they are. It's unhealthy is all I think when I see someone at their age as skinny as a 13 year old should be.

StaceSlutface 2 years ago
i don't think that super models can be blamed for eating disorders i do however think that the modelling industry along with most other areas of the entertainment industry are definately a factor in the cause of the disorders. i have had issues with bulimia and anorexia for four years. pressure from the media is definately an factor but the underlying issues causing people to go to such extreme lengths needs to be examined more closely and prevented.

Uh neither. I don't get mad but I'd put the blame on the fashion industry for pushing that ideal on society because what's the point? Do the clothes look better? Are they easier to make? Yeah people could just let it not bother them, except everywhere you turn there's reinforcement of how inadequate you are. So if people are mad, yes they are really mad at themselves but it's b.c. there's been a whole society which says that you're inferior if you don't look like those models.

its quite sad that society consider the thinnes of supermodels to be beutifull. it seems unhealthy to me for girls to idolise unhealthy looking people. if society idolised models that had more realistic figeures there wud be alot less people trying to be thinner wen their already as thin as a healthy person can be.

Considering all of the pressure pushed on these girls I'm not surprised they'd have such troubles, when we're teens we aren't exactly the most educated, independent people out there, we're still pretty damn stupid and can be effected by others dramatically, we do ultimately choose to act like that, but it's hardly a choice at all for some people.

i think that society, in this case, is a negative spiral down. that people look up to people how are famous and want to be like them, so in the case of models they want to look and act like them. the models then, because society says to, have to be even thinner because thats what people expect and then the fans want to be even thinner to be like them and it just back and forth.

Starving yourself is the only way to lose weight. To lose weight you have to consume less food than you use.
AbsalomPitchingfork 2 years ago
You know, quite to the contrary, starving one's self will lead to weigh gain. Your body will hold on to what it has with diligence, since it believes itself to be starving, it will shut its systems down, and switch to preservation mode.
SketchyBob 2 years ago
Starving oneself does not necessarily entail not eating anything at all.
AbsalomPitchingfork 2 years ago 2
And you must admit, if you eat MORE than you use you WILL gain weight, if you eat as much as you use your weight will not change, and if you eat less than you use you will lose weight. You also must admit that there is no other way.

in truth, girls have a totally warped view of mens preferences on women. men dont particularly like really skinny women, because they look sickly and thats unattractive. guys like healthy looking women, which only means eating right and exercising maybe 4 times a week. try asking men their preferences instead of assuming based on social norms and beliefs you get from magazines.. you might actually be suprised.

Wow, you totally made a point that I have never really thought of. I'm mad at myself, I guess. I don't like being as big as I am, and I have tried everything. I recently got over my purging disorder. neither at them or myself, I know I could lose some pound but I'd never be as skinny as they are 'cause I have my own complexion, certainly I think most of them look just more than beautiful but I'm just thinking about their face features, as humans we have not only one shape, (glad we don't) so I'm tall and some clothes look good on me, so I'm not skinny some clothes look so not good on me, finally who cares?
