Mistreatment in Gitmo were only isolated incidents. Ordered waterboarding and the such was rare and only in cases where the Gov felt the prisoners could give valuable information. For the most part Gitmo served as a holding place for scumbags in limbo, so to say. Waterboarding and other forms of torture are absolutely wrong. BHO stopped legal torture with an executive order passed shortly after closing Gitmo. So, presumably, there would be no more torture even if Gitmo remained. It is all image.

The guy that became a high ranking member of Al Quida, did so during the BUSH presidency. He was probably not even a terrorist when he first went in. Most of those in Gitmo are innocent, sent there after being called out by Pakistani or Afghan civilians who collected rewards from the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT for turning them in. They went turned in any Tom, Dick, and Harry, regardless of whether they'd committed a crime. These were poor folk who needed money, willing to sabotage innocents to get it.

He doesn't make sense. He says he agrees that Gitmo is a blackeye to the US around the world but he doesn't like the way Obama says he will close it. If he really agreed then he would also agree that telling the rest of the world that we will close it as soon as we can would be the best idea available. He is just playing politics again as usual.
