Great instruction on the free squat. Chielfy, because this vid actually shows the correct way to execute it, and avoid injury. This is great for increasing the metabolism and strengthening the glutes. Thanks for the upload. Great resource for the files archive.
The idea comes from that you're supposed to sit back into a squat and have more weight on the heels, and knees past toes could indicate excessive ankle flexion leading to be too foward. However everyone has different shoe sizes in relation to their leg bones so this is clealy an arbitrary point and you should just squat like in the video and not worry if you knees pass the toes. When your knees are excessively foward on your heels it puts more strain on the joint is all.
I was doing bodyweight squats for a while and my knees started bothering me. Turns out that my knees were coming too far forward and, after I corrected it, they felt better. I checked my form by squatting with my toes against a wall.
putting the knees in front of the toes changes the center of gravity and puts a higher amount of force and stress on the knees and as such, increases the danger of blowing out or damaging the knee.
@Soulandbone DO a normal bodyweight squat and when you reach the bottom position, ass to the grass, pause for 5 seconds, then from that position jump up into the air as high as possible.
Perfect. Like poetry in motion. Thanks

Hey.
I've read in a few places that it is important to not let the knees go past the toes. Where did this idea come from and is it really a big deal?
Thanks.

Really useful! Thanks a lot.
I just have a question. How do you do a squat with an explosive concentric?. The reps should be done faster?
Thanks
