  • Dude this song is phenomenal. I lived it already, you nailed!

  • This dislike-bar; can't see it

  • It could be about having the trust to be who you are, and not to adjust to other peoples expectations. Otherwise you're living a lie. So perhaps not just about the music industry?

  • I'm in luv!!!! just awesome *_*

  • This song is so true, it's a warning for people! Take heed!!

  • leroy bell on x factor should sing this

  • Awesome..............simply put

  • It's about the leaders of the world sucking us dry~

  • Just like Elton johns " candle in the wind "

This is about MARILYN MONROE. Relisten. :-)

  • I thought who ever dies with the most toys wins and Amos Lee Doesn't need anymore toys he has them all,so stop and think about it,its all in these words He has more talent and gifts from the almighty that make him better than so many others,He is a great man

doing great things, with his gifts, sharing with us some great music,Like they say a musician speaks though his music, and gives ppl feeling inside to take with them.

  • I thought who ever dies with the most toys wins and Amos Lee Doesn't need anymore toys he has them all,so stop and think about it,its all in these words

  • I don't think I have ever heard better lyrics

  • Amazing song with even more amazing lyrics

  • I always thought it was about "fame", but the illuminati is so well connected to the celeb world, so that makes sense as well.

  • i think its about someone who joined a cult

  • A great song writer like Steve Winwood. He sings to your soul.Thank you.

  • Just found out about this guys music through a song played on my pandora playlist. GREAT STUFF!!!

  • @sicksicksickness are u sure? source?

  • @heiohpei he/she could be right.. here's a source

    illuminati-news(dot)com(slash)art-and-mc(slash)used-artists(dot)htm

p.s., YT doesn't allow links to be posted on comments so replace the signs in the brackets.

  • @sicksicksickness this has nothing to do with the Illuminati? very few songs actually do.

  • @sicksicksickness It sounds more like someone singing about the music industry

  • @sicksicksickness He's talking about modern media, the commercial approach to any value that can be bottled

  • @sicksicksickness

    Get a life...

  • @sicksicksickness I think he's talking about the record industry...

  • @153redankh Maybe its not that specified... alot of people out there that manipulate other people to serve their own twisted goals,.. could be illuminati, music industry, or simple peer pressure...

  • Whatever he wrote it about ,think maybe personal and only he knows ,but read between the lines and let it suit your circumstances if it helps you dig the song and get deeper into it .Beautiful song .Believe this guys is a genuis that doesn,t come along to often.

  • Amos Lee is the best! True, amazing talent. Seems effortless for him. His album...from beginning to end is...flawless.

  • it''s a relax song...

    I love it!

  • this is more then music. <3

  • This is an amazing song. I love it :)

  • Amazing song. Definitely a personal favorite of his.

  • I think this song is about the music industry.

  • Yes, it is Indeed

  • I thought it was about the whole music industry or any industry for that matter. How they find you and tell you how to be and change your name. Amos Lee is AKA Ryan Massaro. Pretend to be the one who is looking out for you when in reality they are just trying to "suck you soul" from you and make what they think is theirs. Love the song! my fav so far.

  • I love this song. Does anyone think its about slavery? Especially with "Did you believe them

When they told you they discovered you

And that everything is free as long as you do what they tell you to" and

''When they told you to change your name"

and "And you will find one day when they put your soul on sale" I don't know. I could be reaching but thats what I got from the song.

  • I feel like it relates to the music industry, discovering talent and selling the person as an artist in a way that they think the public would like them most as opposed to who they are. hence stage names and such.

  • thought it was about a girl (friend of his perhaps?) getting a bogus record deal. Exactly every word he is singing happend to a relative when she was offered a record deal... complications of that nature occured.

  • its about selling out (your soul) to the industry, in this case the music industry. listen to the song again with that in mind and it should make sense

  • no, it's about the big label record industry, and how they own and control the artists they sign. so in a sense yes, the slavery that is the binding contract of signing to a major label.

  • i love this song...it reminds me of marilyn monroe.

  • oh my gosh..so true. i didnt find a connection until u mentioned it

    love this song

  • That high note on the lyric "my love" is so familiar, maybe from a beatles tune or something? Nice Lyrics, beware the soul-suckers out there!

  • This song is so.. Fantastic! how beautiful

  • Amazing song

  • sooooooo true and soooooo good this song is loved by everybody in this household

  • .. its done, its complete... a rap remix.. uch..

  • Waow. Wonderful.

  • Oh the song that started my love affair with Amos Lee!!! You complete me!!!

  • weinig kans frans

  • oh my how perfectly spoken! i couldn't explain my life better than this song does. Sad and awakening! thank you Amos

  • beautiful song. its my myspace song :)

  • one of the best songs I've ever heard. It has a Seal type of power.

I listen to Amos Lee so much I wake up with his songs in my head- which means they were in my dreams or pre-waking subconscious state.

  • Awesome!

  • luv this song

    its so truthful

    :)

  • Amos Lee RULES!

  • i always think of disney when i hear this

  • no words

  • Gorgeous. Lyrics are true, love his voice; he sings song with such emotion

  • "Nobody wants honesty when looking at a perfect frame"

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever.

  • right.. beautiful song. but my favorite song so far is colors

  • this is my favorite amos lee song it is soooo beautiful. his voice is so soothing and mellow i love it!!!

  • His best song by far ! Sleep to it, i did and it was niiice;)

  • Can someone explain me the meaning of the song ?

    If i understand it correctly...

He talks about a girl who beleve the words of all the boys who turn around her ? All these shitty don Juan ?

    Right ?

  • hmm..

for me it sounds like a song about a model/star. perhaps amos wrote it for all these new casting-shows.. don't know..

  • @heiohpei Yeah, sounds like the music industry to me.

  • @heiohpei

I agree 100% - I always thought of it in reference to a musician - starting out with their dream and eventually being transformed into a robot. Told what to wear, sing, etc ..

  • @heiohpei Its a song about a guy that used to be my brother but lost his soul to gain the world and all of its temporary things

  • @heiohpei I agree with you mostly, but I think its about an artist (music, film etc.) who gets caught up the mainstream and loses their own uniqueness/soul. Producers/promoters use them up, change them, then tosses them when their done.

  • I thought it was about record labels and how they can treat artists badly

  • That's what I thought of too :0

  • i think it means what can happen to anyone trying to make it doing anything if you rely on the opinions of others to get where you want to be....watch out for the soul suckers....i agree with heiohpei, he puts the message in the context of a model.

  • @Lionelvm I think its partly about him having to change his name to Amos Lee, and the music industry 'sucking his soul' out in order to gain fame or be accepted

  • @Lionelvm if he had to change his name, what was it before?

  • @Lionelvm i think he's singing about a girl who uses her beauty to seduce men so she can feel better about herself but that pleasure fades fast because instead of getting a higher self-esteem, she's only damaging it more. i dont know thats waht i thought

  • @Lionelvm its about someone who gets used and dumped by show biz people..he mentions that ask you to change your name, and once people in the industry get all they can get out of you then they move on to the next hottest new thing...sad..that is why its good for people getting into show business to have a sense of business so as the body or looks begin to change they can still survive

  • @Lionelvm It's about a young star who is on the verge of making it. He's warning her of all the 'sharks' and traps that are waiting for her. He is telling her be herself, to stay true to herself and believe in herself, not these fucken assholes!

  • @Lionelvm who cares this song is awesome:)

  • @Lionelvm hey its folk, folk is always all over the place unless you are the artist, but somethings folk make truth but they usually are all over the place.

  • @Lionelvm no the song is about the idustrie that they suck all your soul and change you from who you are and as soon as there done with you you'll never hear from them again

  • @Lionelvm music is what you make it, thats the great thing about it.

  • @Lionelvm I personally think this song is about a struggling musician who is being told to be someone he/she isnt in order to get somewhere with his/her carreer.

  • @Lionelvm its about a musician selling out. its about a guy. that is all....goodbye

  • @Lionelvm

Its about Marilyn Monroe. Similar to "Candle in the Wind" by Elton John.

  • @Lionelvm It is about the music industry. He talks about it on an interview with him I watched.

  • @Lionelvm Actually, what i get of this songs is about a girl/model who believes everything she's told about what to do to "triumph"

The beauty stereotype which is inside the model world where you have to do everything.

And how they dump you when you don't accomplish it anymore.

The boy tells here not to believe which she is told.

  • @Lionelvm why does it need a meaning?

  • such an awesome song and he has the most beautiful voice! its just so calming!

  • i got goosebumps when i heard this

  • i saw him at Wal Mart in ashevile today. that was weird cuz i didn't know who he was until my friend told me

  • Wish I would've been in your shoes.

  • thanks for the lyrix

  • I love this. I haven't felt like I was listening

to the future for a long time, but here it is!

  • this is my favorite amos lee song " nothing is more powerful than the truth my love and nothing is more powerful than beauty in a wicked world" those are my favorite lyrics

  • pięknie;)

  • einfach nur perfekt!!!!!

  • I love it!

  • Beautiful song !!!

  • Amos can carry a tune

  • love this song!

  • es una kancion de las mas bonitas k he oido en todos los sentidos.me enkanta la voz de ste chico y las letras aun mas.

  • No words ... actualy no words - beautiful is a word that is on thousands of space miles from the truth about this song. The human speech always was realy poor for things like art. One very Big "Thank You" for the poster of the song!!!

  • No problem... ;)

  • @OctanedBlood the human language has always been poor for expressing about ANYTHING we ever experience. language is impossible.

altho this song tells more then a thousand words!

  • This song makes my heart ache...seriously.

  • All his songs are good...but the lyrics to this one completely jump out at you...they're really true, and meaningful.

  • actually that was the reason to upload the masterpiece ;)

  • One more time - thank You!!! This is what i can call 'yeah, this is the language of my soul!'

    Thank You!!!

    Sincerely,

    Hundred octaned instead of blood,
