Ive known about this trac since it 1st came out,,,but just today I learned the title of it and who the singer is. I always requested this trac by singing ..walking in the valley of.....and hey yeah.....amazingly the djs always knew which trac to play.
Wow. Just heard of Danielle Dax for the first time today. What a great song here, among many others apparently, and what a smart person in interviews.Wtf! Danielle is something else! Very cool, amazing!
I remember this song from the Summer of 1987, heard it on the on the radio just the once. Initially I thought it was a Belgium singer from the French speaking region.
Love BIG HOLLOW MAN!! ..... She's IS great I admit,... but she was up against MEGA stars that were rising quickly around her, and which could produce many top 10 hit singles. Remember: the 80s were the single wildest and weirdest explosion of musical diversity mankind has, or will, ever see!!
She could rock those plumes! Heee... I remember when this was on the radio, late at night, the DJ said somebody called requesting this song but didn't know the title or artist and said something along the lines of "satanic chipmunks, Lena Lovich" and the DJ had the guy sing a few bars-- live! (did a pretty good impersonation actually)
R4949-she IS a huge star..dont confuse commercial success with actual clout.I cant imagine having growing up without her.I only saw her live once but it was a small venue and a moment I will always remember.I still have a leather jacket with a black and white painting on the back (goth standard) of Danielle. The jacket itself became known as Danielle ..by me and others..weird.I only wish she still fitted me.
I saw that same show in San Diego with Lush, but I went really just to she her. She was wearing this silver strapped hot pants outfit, hair tied tight on top of her head ( really long by the way ) and oh my god probably the most beautiful and talented female musician I've ever seen live and I've seen hundreds of concerts. I wish I could have seen Kate Bush live though. You know it's a sad world we live in now on what people believe is talent and beauty these days. Thanks for sharing.
@berniex2 think I played on that gig for Danielle (LG) - was the venue Irvine Meadows in San Diego ? - a pleasure of a singer to work for, v dedicated to her music, musicians, and also the fans - remember Lush singer .... big gig with SIsters Of Mercy too ..... Vision Thing era (.... I'll give my kingdom for my memory back ...)
@Homoholic yeah, was on that tour - we had loads of sound issues at one or two venues - I remember the road manager giving the mixman a huuuuuuuge bollocking on front of all of us and the sisters of mercy road/sound crew saying his 6yo daughter could do a better job (at Phoenix I think .... seemed to some the guy was out of his depth) - she deserved better (and later found it !)
cool!! hadn't seen this video in years. i 1st saw this at #'s Nightclub in Houston... not til late 90s, i was too young in the late 80s ;-) i honestly didn't really care for this song that much, but the more i heard it, it grew on me a lot. her music's kinda hard to come by though!
Thank you for sharing! I've always been curious to see this. I definitely had Inky Bloaters on vinyl, I remember from the beautiful cover how cool a video styled similarly would be. She's so pretty!
I had no idea that you did a video for Ms Dax, a brilliant songwriter-singer, in my opinion. She's a goddess and I loved this album. Well done for putting up this video!

If it's any consolation, we all LOVED Danielle back in the 80's. The Rock City dancefloor packed out for this tune as I recall :)

Danielle is truly very beautiful. Her good looks are more evident in other videos like 'Cathouse' or 'Tomorrow Never Knows' just to name a couple.
I saw her opening for THE SISTERS OF MERCY in Toronto in the 90s and she awesome (despite some technical sound issues).

Uber rocker!
She came from money, this is a truly authentic album: She really puts her soul into it, no BS half attempt.
That she used her resources to make this is really outstanding. Freaking cool name, voice that could kill on contact.

Her music is not hard to come by at all. She's got talent but, must she look like a 13 year old boy in his moms old 80's cloths? Throws me off.
