Dan Brown had a video about michael jackson after he died :')

he told that michael jackson was inspired by 'walking against the wind' (this) and somehow he made the moonwalk with that inspiration ^^

So people went to search for it too xD and that's why most viewers here came from Dan Brown ^^ (just like me xD)

Totally not true. He may have watched Marceau, and incorporated his movements in the "backslide" or moonwalk as it is commonly referred to as. However, that dance was derived from the Urban neighborhoods, but taught to MJ by dancer/singer, Jeffrey Daniels of Shalamar fame. Famed dancer, Bill Bailey, also did it way back in 1943 and can be seen on youtube doing it in 1955. I know that jackson was a fan of Marceau's, but did not get his inspiration from the legendary mime. I did it myself b-4 MJ.

Michael got the idea from watching black street kids doing it, he said so himself in an interiew. He NEVER once said that he got the idea from Marceau.

Actually, the illusions of walking in place and against the wind, etc., were created for the Chinese Opera years before Marceau was born. There street dancers got it from copying the mime illusion, and improving it.

I am a modern mime artist myself, and I am soooo tired of seeing the cliché of the white-faced, beret, striped shirt look. Oy! There is more to the Art than that! Look at Mummenschanz, Tricicle, or Bill Irwin for some examples of mime that is worthy of the 21st century.

@TheMitchelEvans well the tecnique of walking against the wind was first recorded in the ideas of Marceau in the western world and it has been used in many areas. As you have mentioned mime is an art and it is not only a street show but it is definately more than Mummenschanz and all that. Mime could be used in normal realistic theatre or epic theatre or forum. theatre it could even be applied to puppetry. Mime is like micro expresions. It is universal.
