  • There aren't enough words to express how grateful I am to you for creating & uploading this video. Thank you dearly. Alanis is one of my favoritest people ever, and even at the "Huh?" part on the video, I "got" her. So excited!! It makes me feel REAL and important and needed in this world when I watch videos like this. Btw, I have INFJ preferences so thank you for highlighting NF qualities in the vid.

  • She looked to me as INTP. I am ISFJ so don't resent me telling this. : )

  • I always liked Alanis didn't know why...now I do.

  • OH, god. That makes me laugh its so on point! She's definately and INFP. I am one, and I struggle in the exact same ways she expressess here. Its hilarious, cause we both take ourselves way too seriously. but there's like nothing we can do about it! Dammit! We just keep going in our circular, crazy, BS for ever and ever.............I try to figure myself and life out all day long, but guess what? Not going to find it. Life is the process of churning, basically. Oh, god, I sound rediculous.

  • i didnt even kno about her, as an infp i'm going to make the commitment of doing so immediatly!!

  • Yep. I think she is probably an INFP. I wish the volume on the video were more consistent so I wouldn't have to keep turning it up to hear it, then down to keep it from being painful to my ears, but that is a minor complaint. I really liked how you compiled all of these interview fragments. I liked this video.

  • hekekkeke <3

  • Thank you A.M.! I identify 100% with @ 4:44 - being an emotional content person. I realized a few years ago that I am like that, and since then have wondered if anyone else was too.

  • Genius insight! Love the video. Listening to her speak I was taken with her idea of being like a flower. If you are in the flow of life you are a flow-er. A flower. A very INFP thought thaqt I recognise as one myself. Bless you and Alanis for this sharing!

  • She's Crazy!!!! I'm in Love!!!!

  • I see ENFP as a strong possibility for her...she could easily be a very chatty INFP - I know I am...I'm just saying, I think ENFP is quite plausible also...

  • I don't think she's a Introvert. She communicate well and easy. I think she's more of ENFP

  • @equitando Anyone who thinks she is anything other than an INFP doesn't know her very well.

  • @equitando

Introverted in the myers briggs refers to looking inward when decided upon who you view the world, it has nothing to do with being open, having good communication skills and being sociable, and INFP can easily be a the life of the party while an ENFP can just as easily be deathly shy.

  • @equitando I'm definitely INFP and I'm quite extroverted. Introverted in INFP description comes in terms of deepening inside for creating or for contemplating the volcano creation starting the birth inside you. We are not afraid of talking as some introverted people are. So, I think you should see at personality types in more broader way.

  • @IleSpasev The more I study myer briggs the more I understand you are right. Thank you. Anyway, Alanis rocks!

  • @equitando I'm an INFP and I'm always mistaken as an extrovert. I think you misunderstand the definition of an introvert.

  • @equitando Introverted doesn't mean people can't communicate or are withdrawn or shy etc. It means you get tired from being around people/strangers all the time and need 'alone time' on a regular bases. Alone time recharges introverted people, whereas extraverted people go to a club or a party to recharge.

  • this video is badly edited and the volume keeps changing. get it together yo

  • @CoolVallieJean

Actually, most of the clips I used are just general NF things. There's very little to indicate a dominant function. Trust me, she's an INFP. I've seen just about every interview she's ever given. And don't even get me started on her song lyrics. They are about as Fi as you can possibly get.

  • @CoolVallieJean To put it in a less rude way, If you get to know her better, you'll see how there's not a snowballs chance that's possible

  • @bobbitsneazer Okay, but all the Introverted-Intuition, Extroverted-Feeler clips were selected instead of the opposite Functions of the INFP. This isn't a bad thing, INFJs & INFPs are very similar, we have the same Idealistic view of the world, very creative & imaginitive, but their emotion/purpose is expressed outward. Think of it like being Right- or Left-handed, we can use both but each person has a more dominant side.

  • @bobbitsneazer I know less of Alanis, she's awesome though. A nice example of an INFP musician is Beck. watch?v=fBk5tNrxXC0

  • she's a total INFJ!!! deeply caring about others & their rights, HIGHLY developed intuition, even catagorizing different types of people, INFPs are much more selfish --not that that's a bad thing :D ha

all NFs are 'idealists' but hers is outward for others (Extroverted-Feeling) --> 5:00 6:00 ....INFJs are also known as the 'Mystics'

  • @CoolVallieJean not necessarily. I'm an infp but I have learned to use my empathy and knowledge of others more extravertedly. I'm not as selfish with those traits as I used to be.

  • @aelishaful agreed. of course we're able, I just meant those Functions come very naturally to the INFJ, we typically have to work at it. :)

Patch Adams is INFP and loves helping people, but look at his life. he became a doctor from a deep frustation of the system of how people were being treated in hospitals (idealism). from that, because of that, he loves helping people.

  • @CoolVallieJean Also, check socionics (something) com, they switch the last two letters for Introverted types, but it's the same theory.

  • @CoolVallieJean

"Categorizing" is a judging trait, not perceiving. Intuition may 'categorize' information, but they do it through complex relations, and commonly don't project their results.

Also, note that INFPs are Dominant Feelers, and INFJs are secondary feelers. The latter may be mistaken as less emotional as they perceive first, and judge second. To emote is to judge.

I don't know about the mystic part, but every INFP I've known was very spiritual, whether an atheist or theist.

  • wow.. she's really such a beautiful being inside and out.

  • I, too, am an INFP in every sense of the type...

  • shit i guess im an infp

  • i think you're right. i'm an infp, and this really resonates with me.
