I do not see him in near 1st round caliber, the only reason why he is being considered is due to the lack of depth of QBs this year. This guy is a project, as well as Mark Sanchez and Stafford. They all need at least a year or two with a club to understand nuances of being a starter in the NFL. Jet fans should wait this year, pass on cutler, and wait for next year..bradford.
Has the Jets GM showed that he can make moves in drafts to get the caliber players? yes (see d.revis). Bradford is amongst other talants that will be there. Tebow (proven winner) McCoy, Daryll Clark, and a trendy pick of Dan Lefevour of C. Michigan. All of whom would be better than Freeman that will be available next year. Watch film & watch them play before you make comments like that. Jets are perfect position to solidify LBs with a Clay Matthews or a plethora a great WRs here in this draft
I've seen all those guys play and none of them have the arm of Freeman. Guys like Bradford and Clark will be better QB's probably but they might not be great fits in the Jets system.
Tebow will never be a good NFL qb though. That's why every respectable scout has said that he will have to change positions in the NFL eventually.
jets offense is set up for a SMART qb, not one thats thrown 44:34 td:int ratio in a conference thats known for soft pass defenses. bradford 86:16; even lefevour (who has a strong arm, quicker release and known to look off safeties) is at 74:29. Mind you all have better career ratings. freeman is good, but he cant look a safety off, his delievery is slow, that will catch up to him in the nfl with fast dbs. aka more INTS. freeman will be a par qb, and i dont think HE is right for the jets.
I never said he was right for the Jets. I think the Bucs will draft him. What I'm saying is that they should take someone this year and start developing him rather than putting all their eggs in one basket and depending on getting someone next year. Maybe trade up and get Sanchez.
Sanchez will be good after a year or two of training under someone. No QB here is ready to step in like a flacco or ryan. Jets drafted Clemens in the second round, I think he and ratliff should show what they have and maybe bring in garcia on a year contract as a safety net (you know what your going to get with him). give that a chance and rely on L.washington and TJ to produce offense. smash mouth football, dont settle for a franchise qb here. sure up what could be a great defense now.

Yes, he does have a lot of McNabbs qualities. But not the young Mcnabb.. I'm talking post-knee surgery Mcnabb. Freeman does have the ability to get outside the pocket but his head is always up and he's always looking to pass first... early Mcnabb didn't do that and only recently has he adapted to "pocket passing". Freeman out of college has that ability, not saying he'll be as good as Mcnabb but only time will tell.

Has the Jets GM showed that he can make moves in drafts to get the caliber players? yes (see d.revis). Bradford is amongst other talants that will be there. Tebow (proven winner) McCoy, Daryll Clark, and a trendy pick of Dan Lefevour of C. Michigan. All of whom would be better than Freeman that will be available next year. Watch film & watch them play before you make comments like that. Jets are perfect position to solidify LBs with a Clay Matthews or a plethora a great WRs here in this draft

I've seen all those guys play and none of them have the arm of Freeman. Guys like Bradford and Clark will be better QB's probably but they might not be great fits in the Jets system.
Tebow will never be a good NFL qb though. That's why every respectable scout has said that he will have to change positions in the NFL eventually.

jets offense is set up for a SMART qb, not one thats thrown 44:34 td:int ratio in a conference thats known for soft pass defenses. bradford 86:16; even lefevour (who has a strong arm, quicker release and known to look off safeties) is at 74:29. Mind you all have better career ratings. freeman is good, but he cant look a safety off, his delievery is slow, that will catch up to him in the nfl with fast dbs. aka more INTS. freeman will be a par qb, and i dont think HE is right for the jets.

I never said he was right for the Jets. I think the Bucs will draft him. What I'm saying is that they should take someone this year and start developing him rather than putting all their eggs in one basket and depending on getting someone next year. Maybe trade up and get Sanchez.

Sanchez will be good after a year or two of training under someone. No QB here is ready to step in like a flacco or ryan. Jets drafted Clemens in the second round, I think he and ratliff should show what they have and maybe bring in garcia on a year contract as a safety net (you know what your going to get with him). give that a chance and rely on L.washington and TJ to produce offense. smash mouth football, dont settle for a franchise qb here. sure up what could be a great defense now.

I agree that Sanchez will take time to develope but don't forget that NOBODY thought Ryan or Flacco would be good so early on. 99% of qb's are not good at all early on in their careers.

The guy doesn't have big potential. The great QBs that come into the league are mostly always known in college. This kid was playing in a conference that was pretty much fluff until this year, and couldn't manage to win big. We will see how the cards fall, and I hope he is good, because everyone deserves a shot. But I'm not all that confident...

yep he played in the big 12 and wasnt even in the top 5 qbs for the conference, in fact he was the tenth best qb last year only beating out a sophmore from iowa state and a sophmore from colorado. Teams like Baylor and Texas A&M are not surrounded with "better talent" than K-State

Yes, he does have a lot of McNabbs qualities. But not the young Mcnabb.. I'm talking post-knee surgery Mcnabb. Freeman does have the ability to get outside the pocket but his head is always up and he's always looking to pass first... early Mcnabb didn't do that and only recently has he adapted to "pocket passing". Freeman out of college has that ability, not saying he'll be as good as Mcnabb but only time will tell.
