  • Get some Shamu

  • "the chiiling sounds of teeth crushing bone.."

  • ok so I clicked on this video and my itunes just happened to start playing Chi Mai (The Professional) by Ennio Morricone at the perfect time, it fit so well that and was so strange that I thought you might like to check it out, keep the audio up on the video, and start Chi Mai just after the narrator finishes saying "the very breathing of distant prey." it is lined up right if the very first close up of a a porpoise surfacing matches the first crescendo.it is definitely epic and oddly soothing

  • now i know y they call them killer whales

  • FUCK-AH YOU DOLPHIIIN! AND FUCK-AH YOU WHALEH!

  • orcas pwn

  • I think the footage is good enough to show people, who have only seen orcas in theme parks, what they really are about.

  • Fuckin' whales.

  • I bet it's nice being on the top of the food chain

  • that suck 4 the dolphins fuckkkkkkkk u kiler whale killer whale

  • OMG, that's Pender (T14) at 2:25 !!

  • @NicolasJz Yeah I recognized him too, I wonder when this was filmed...? He looks so big now!!

  • @afirminger if u harpoon an orca THE ORCA WILL RIP UR ASSHOLE INSIDE OUT

  • sick

  • if you hate the orcas then take that back, we hunt pheasets and kill lifestock.

  • they hate you too you bitch

  • isn't nature wonderful!!

  • that was no accident. they did that on porpoise

  • Comment removed

  • I DON'T LIKE PUNS.

  • Then I whale not make another one

  • haha

  • The orca in the first 8 seconds is a whopper...looks probably 20 foot plus!!

  • Wow, leave it to National Geographic to get some fantastic footage like this.

  • thats quite some footage there.

  • Killer whales will eat other whales and even cannibal if they have to. Food is food to them

  • I've never heard of such a thing in my life. And by now I think I would have. There is no scientific evidence to prove that orcas prey on their own nor has it ever been witnessed. I have a book about transients written by some of the top Orca Researchers today. I'm sure they would have mentioned it if it were true/fact.

  • killer whales arnt whales thier dolphines thier names is cause they kill whales

  • Porpoises are in the same family as killer whales and dolphins. Don't know why the Killer whale eats another member of its family

  • What is this clip from?

  • from dolphins the wild side on national geographic channel

  • There were killer whales in Australia who co-operated with man to kill migrating humpback whales. The men would follow the killers to a whale and after the killers trap it in the bay the men harpoon it. The men would then leave the carcass overnight so the killers could eat the lips and tongue. The men could then process the rest. Search for "killers of Eden"

  • daaaamn he took a big ass chunk outta that dolphin

  • actually it's a "SHE" as the females do the hunting...the males are the one's with the long dorsal fins!

  • Male orcas hunt as well.

  • no they are really too large and bulky to take part in the hunting, like a pride of lions it's the lionesses or females that do the hunting, the male stands aside and may take part somehow, put the females are the one's that bring home the bacon, for example the whale that made the hit was a female.

  • The males may be larger and bulkier, but with that extra bulk comes more muscle and larger fins to propel themselves. Full-grown male orcas are perfectly agile and capable of hunting. It has been filmed before.

  • so are orcas faster than dall's porpoise i really want to know. Has there been any videos showing how fast orcas can swim, cause most people say that orcas can swim fast but i dont they're really that fast.

  • they can swim up to 35 or 40 mph..a dolphin can only do 25 mph.

  • And yet, males hunt...

  • i'm sure the can as well as a male lion... but it's the females that do most of the hunting is my point, the are smaller and more agile

  • they're not "too large and bulky", the male lions are the ones who bring down larger prey. they don't go after larger prey that often, so the males usually conserve their energy by resting up to 20 hours a day to prepare for the large hunts, intruders, and other male lions who might challenge them for the pride

  • my new favourite this is a beautifull video but a good reminder that while the shark may have big theet the orca with inteligence and teamwork wins every day

  • Why do so many simpletons post their idiotic comments on Youtube? Nature is red in tooth and claw. Why try to ascribe human attributes to simple sea creatures? Y'weirdos.

  • No kidding. Apparently 'God' designed the world to function this way so why cry about it? All part of the mysterious plan and what not. Supposedly, anyway.

  • Word.

Thanks for your support -- I suspect this fine film will be inundated by the 'dolphins are soooooo cute!!!!' squad.

I love nature films like this, and I love to see the reality of what happens,

Oh, by the way kids, Orcas are calleed 'Killer Whales' because that is a mis-translation from the Spanish, and accurately translates as 'killer of whales', which puts an entirely different spin on it, don't you think?

For my money, Orcas rule hard, and I LOVE to watch videos about them.

  • @gregtube88 lol. i know. stupid idiots

  • pwnd

  • What a lot of people forget when calling Orca whales killer whales. Is comparing humans with these whales. I mean, to be honest we are much more of murderers than these beautiful creatures. We eat everything and own every place in the world as if it was built for us and only us. I think we are the true killers. Yes it's sad for the porpoise, but do we greeve eating duck, cow, pidgens, pig,... ?

  • Did you know they're called 'killer whales' because there is a slight mis-translation? In fact, they were called 'killers OF whales', because that's what they eat sometimes.

Whatever, the orca is one of the most beautiful animals on this planet we occupy.

  • "because of Orcas bad sight, they often mistakes human for beiing seals"

Actually, from what I understand, Orcas actually tend to have quite good eyesight.

  • Orcas own shark ass but sharks are just cooler :)

  • ohh well , life goes on, this happen every day and we can't stop it. ha ha ha !

    orcas r beautiful!

  • i cried but thats life i cant stop it cant complain thats good footage

  • Poor porpoise, but that's life: Eat or be eaten. 'Course for killer whales, they don't have to worry about being eaten. :D

Those are Transients, by the way. They are the only type of orca that eats marine mammals. So when you see an orca attacking a seal or dolphin, it's a transient. Residents only eat fish.

  • because of Orcas bad sight, they often mistakes human for beiing seals.. Human doesnt look to good to the orcas..:P

  • @TheMandolinMan thats not true at all

  • For all their hunting skill, Orcas have never been known to deliberately attack humans in the wild. But yeah, it's probably a good idea to keep a respectful distance when kayaking or whatever.

  • ouuuu, such a creepy ending with that poor porpoise being crunched on while still alive and wounded, what an end phew :X

  • Hell freaking' ya. Orcas rule.

  • i wouldnt worry, there are no known reports of orcas harming humans

  • Well, I don't want to hear the first case and stain the reputation of this beautiful species.

  • what about in seaworld where shamu nearly killed his trainer? she was sent to hospital toget 100 stitches

  • im talking about in the wild.

  • The only recorded attack on a human was in 1972, when a surfer off Big Sur, Calif., was badly bitten by a Transient who accidently mistakened him for a seal from below.

  • Now that was just crucial. Those porpoises should follow their dolphin counterparts by ganging up on the killer whale and continually ramming into it.

  • The orcas are too large and too many.

  • That works against sharks sometimes, with a skeleton cartilage and breathe through vulnerable gills...would not work against a huge Orca made of bone and blubber and muscle.

  • Actually, killer whales (orcas) are the largest member of the dolphin family

  • Nature is beautiful, yet brutal.

  • I don't know if i should say awesome or brutal so there are,is,or was both. Mental note: don't swim with Orca whales (killer or not) they might just do ya ugly style.......mean...mean...killin machines!
