So, let me get this straight: I don't have the right to know if my food has been produced using tissue culture, grafting, somaclonal variation, chemical/radiation mutagenesis, induced polyploidy, marker assisted selection, or any other form of mutation or trait breeding, all of which are totally untested and unregulated, but if a gene is inserted directly, THAT needs forced labeling, but without distinction as to which of the near infinite properties the gene has?

@Zhavlon Stop trying to make it sound as if GE crops, etc. were a previously unknown variety pulled out of a rainforest somewhere and then genetically engineered. GE crops have undergone virtually all of the same conventional breeding techniques in addition to genetic engineering techniques. The consumer should have the right to choose not to consume any GMO or any specific GMO, the same way they can choose to avoid all artificial colors or just avoid blue#1, that requires labels.

Even if one were to get in whom has legitimate and pure-of-heart intentions he'd be fighting the giant to make even the smallest of changes in a positive direction. Beyond the flawed people elected within the governmental system, I believe its the system itself that has critical flaws. Also dont believe any significant change could come from within by a few noble politician's efforts..
