  • "Overrr the phawn"

Why is he singing in an American accent? What an idiot!

An American would never sing the Star Spangled Banner in a British or Australian accent. lol

  • @Nancy99999 you don't deserve to live on this planet if you that ignorant.

instead of the 'accent' of his voice how about you realise the message he puts forward..not to mention the nice melody and song structure that's there as well.

OH and before i forget...what happens if his parents were from over seas and that's how his voice adapted?

my dads american and mother my is italian, i can tell you i don't speak with an australian accent.

  • Beautiful song! The first time I heard this song, I cried. I'm not from Australia, nor have I visited. But I can understand the sentiment this song invokes.

  • You spelt 'basis' wrong in the description.

  • This is a very good video. I like the pictures.

  • I love Australia. We are a perfect mix of British and American culture. We have a great economy and are a safe-war free country. There is such a good sense of Unity and mateship, not only in our military, but in the whole country. I love it.

  • I love it!

  • I left Australia to find that the grass in not greener on the other side, that the new sun is not shining as bright as it does back at home and that no matter how far I am from home, my hart and sole will always be under tha Southern Cross in the Land of Down Under.

Cheers from cold Canada = )

  • 3 people are jealous that they arent aussies ;)

  • Peter Allen doesn't get enough recognition. A wonderful song worthy of being the national anthem. He was a brilliant performer and composer. His body of work is wonderfully diverse. He is missed by many.

  • He sings it with an American accent. More like, I Still Call America Home now.

I prefer the Qantas 1998 version.

  • @LisaSpringfield Most Aussies sing with American accents.

(They speak like themselves, but they sing like Americans!)

  • beautiful song:) greets from finland.

  • im not australian but in 3 years i will be

  • @Aussie18McCabe Wonderful decision! Say your Australian loud and proud my friend!!

  • Happy Australia day mates!

  • Yeh and i notice i cant find a single version of peter singing it live or vid ,,,,You sux arse Qantas we all know you own the rights to the song but for fuk sake let the man sing it ,,its his words ,,he cant hert you from the grave

  • Happy Australia Day, folks...

  • I'm not even from Australia and I love this song!

  • I've been listening to/watching various versions of this song here since I heard it on Oprah this afternoon and it really touches me. Even though I'm not an Aussie (I'm a Yank) I think anyone can relate to how it feels to be far away from the people and places you love and what it means to come back home after having been away from home for a long time. I've always had a fondness for Aussies anyway. Curtis Stone,Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe... ;}

  • @XKat2 I'm an Australian and I want you to know I'll accept you as an American Aussie.

  • I am very proud of the way all Aussies came across as tough, practical & no non-sense in the international press.....So well done!...we haven't lost any spirit of defiance nor have we failed one another as a community in such desperate hours for many!! Apart from our politicians, we look great, proud & caring on TV to the whole world! Hang in there, Queensland! Yes there is not a single Aussies, Aboriginal, White, Yellow, Black or Red who do not love the land itself! Stay strong!

  • I'm an Aussie who has been living in London for nearly 8 years.....I've travelled the world....and seen many places, met many people and tried many new things......but Australia is where my family, my friends and my heart is and always will be!

  • This should be our national anthem.

  • @tony999Melb i would LOVE IT TO BE OUR ANTHEM I LOVE THIS SONG AND I MIGHT DO IT IN CHOIR!

  • @tony999Melb yes! u from melb?

  • @runescapefisher Yes I am....why?

  • @tony999Melb this or i am australian

  • @tony999Melb problem being with the line...."no matter how far or how wide i roam" 90% of Australians have never been out of the country...and the whole point of the song is being away from Australia and missing the place!! :P ....I may not be In Australia now, But "I still call Australia home!!!!!" I'm proud that we are respected around the world....even tho some in Australia may not respect other countries.

  • @axesent Approximately 1 million Australian citizens currently live overseas. That is 5% of all Australian citizens. I don't know where you got your 90% statistic from. It is a difficult number to measure, but passports being required for overseas travel are a good indicator: over 60% of Aussies have passports, whereas closer to 30% of Americans do.

  • @tony999Melb Nah mate, this should be NZ's national anthem.

  • @Royacid

The more the merrier mate. Just don't come by boat or some douche bag named costello might try stop you.

  • @onoaptelunga True, true. It's my home, I'd rather be here than anywhere else in the world. You might call somewhere else home, but I still call Australia home no matter where I go.

  • I love this country, no where else in the world can you be accepted with such open arms, warmth, humor and friendliness. Where else can you find such vast open land and freedom? Where else can you meet people from so many different ethnic backgrounds, cultures and ideas.

Yes, Australia will always be my home. Thank you for the video.

  • Australia is going to be my new home

  • @themajormotokok Same :)
