Im sorry but U571 was a complete rip off of das boot, it looked cheap and not uch imagination and historical research went into it, it was trying to be something it wasnt....epic fail hollywood!!!! leave the war films to us germans!!! das boot blew hollywood apart, not bit cleiched, Its a film to be passed down generations! Sorry U571 but you sunk far to early for my liking! sadly they had no crackshot engineer on board :( 2:28 johann is da man!!!!

Amazing montage. The original das Boot's OST was also excelent. U-571 wasn't a great film. too american. Also, the real story was portaited by the UK Navy.

Think what Captain35000 is getting at is that in U-571 and American crew is depicted as captureing the German Navy enigma machine and codes (the best codeing system in the world at the time i think) when it was the destroyer HMS bulldog that accomplished this 4 months before America entered the war...
