What ever happened to 'I'm in the clear, ok to give it a stretch?' Lucky. I made a hitch like that one time and the damned pins never fell. had to walk back to my 2 block which was 30 or so cars back. Looks like you don't have to buy the Coffee today.

@MrBNSFconductor Being a Conductor in training myself, I never couple up withoug making certain I stretch it and the pin on both the locomotive and car fall (I'm one of those that opens the knuckle on both).
