@1997WoRm the point of remnants was to create a opening for the album. disturbed wanted to create a rhythmic piece, devoid of lyrics, to set the mood for the rest of the album. although it acts as an opening for asylum they didn't want to make it part of the song.

Well the songs were originally one track, but disturbed thought that a 7 minute track was a bit much, especially sense some people don't like the long opening. They made sure to place the tracks to flow right into each other on the CD opposed to the 2 second delay that the rest of the songs have. : ) BTW this song is amazing in concert.
