James Robinson was a little disappointing with Superman but I'm still way excited about his move to Marvel. What's the deal with flitting between DC and Marvel? I thought there wold be restrictions like the stars under the studio system.
Theres only restrictions if they're exclusive and JR isn't exclusive.
And sometimes they can have it written into their contract that they can work elsewhere. For example Abnett and Lanning are Marvel exclusive but they have an exemption that they can work for british magazine 2000AD (the galaxies greatest comic tm.)
I'm way more excited for what Marvel is doing, only thing at DC I'm interested in is Green Lantern period.
I mean Marvel is hitting on all cylinders from Captain Britan, Ironfist, GOTG, Nova, even Asm Spidey is good. I'm pissed about the price hike, but title for title Marvel is kicking DC's ass.
I'm reading freaking Ironfist? Ironfist?? and it's good. DC can't even get Titans or Flash on track
lads, George Perez is worth waiting for, its only his previous injuries that slow him down these days.
I'm actually getting 10 DC titles atm and only 8 Marvel. Most of the DC titles are Superman or GL tho. I include The Haunted Tank (very good) even though thats a Vertigo book.
I'm looking forward to R.E.B.E.L.S drawn by Andy Clarke too. Marvel is coming out with some good stuff (Hawkeye by Andy Diggle!)
Hey, guys. I'm just thrown' this out there about "Battle For The Cowl".
Jose, I know in an earlier vid, you said that "Battle" is basically a re-hash of "Prodigal" from, I think, '94? But, I was thinking about it and does anyone even remember Prodigal? It was such a minor footnote in Batman history, that, I don't even think it mattered.
Everybody remembers "A Death In The Family", or "Killing Joke" or "KnightFall", you mention Prodigal to someone and they will say, "Wha?"
If the story didn't matter why has DC kept the trade in print all of these years? Why retell a story while the original is still available to those who want to read it? It would be one thing if they got some decent creators retelling the story but they don't. It's going to be just like the Reign of Supermen. The BFTC as a concept is completely unoriginal and, to me, quite boring.
All I'm saying is that nothing profound happened in Prodigal. I'll go as far as saying it wasn't even needed post-Knights End.
So (for whatever reason) Bruce doesn't take back the cowl after beating Az-Bat, lets Dick fill-in for a week or two, in which time he fights a bunch C-List villians and Two-Face, then Bruce comes back and takes over again.
Why didn't he take over as soon as he beat Az-Bat? Jeez, I don't even recall why.
The thing that I am looking forward to is the part that Jason "The Red Hood" Todd will play in this. I liked the concept of the former sidekick, coming back as an enemy.
The idea of the masters prize pupil (Dick) fighting the student the master failed so miserably (Jason) fighting over their teachers place is something I find appealing.
Now, I'm a Batman junkie. I'll read anything Batman.
The only BOTC comic I've seen thats interesting is the Oracle series and thats just because the cover artist seems to be great at drawing boobs, otherwise its all meh.
Those Oracle covers a pretty nice. The artist's name is Guillem March. He just did a two part story in Detective #851 and Batman #684. I like his stuff quite a bit.

but this 3.99 thing with Marvel is a major stumbling block. If all the books were 2.99 I'd be getting maybe 15 marvel books a month.
